One light - Many Fun Modifiers

Using just one Profoto A2 and a bunch of modifiers, we get to see the benefits of this setup and the few pitfalls. Of course any one light will do, like the Godox AD100 Pro or a simple speedlight.

I have expected a much softer image at 5minute mark from that setup. One way to create a separation between subject and background with one light is to place the light behind and above model, put a reflector in front of model and shoot light into reflector. It is a very "poor's man" solution but it worked for me a few times. I saw it somewhere on youtube recently and was like "ooh yeah, I used to do it when I had only one strobe!" :)

It has a use case for sure, but it really depends on the models hair and how much the backlight will effect the flyaways. For me, that is an issue for a lot of the subjects I shoot.

She started with me as timid as they get. She still has a little hesitation when she walks in the studio, but show her a few shots and her confidence comes back quickly.

Really like the HighKey images at the end... I think you proved that most modifiers can give you similar results... I resolved the speedlight off angle in the umbrella by mounting the speedlight on a separate light stand or using a Smallrig magic arm clamp... this model's outfits really matched well to her body style and obvious personality... thanks for sharing!

I'm with you on the soft bounce. I figured it would be a more robust version of the bounce card adapter but I don't find an appreciable difference between them, and the soft bounce takes up a lot more space when traveling.

do you have a preference of background color between black, white and gray? Not which is more versatile, which one you find more visually appealing in the final image. I feel like the more I see and use, low key backgrounds seem more visually appealing to me personally.

Can you try the profoto fresnel magnetic attachment on the AD100 or V1 and compare it to a Profoto light with that fresnel attachment? I'm curious about the results of this comparison

I can tell you it works. But the frosted lens on the Profoto A2 makes for better consistency in light compared to the AD100 and for that matter the A10. If I was buying for the AD100 (or A10) I would get the Clic Magnum instead.
