Saw Tommy in late previews. Agree that "the future" concept was a bit confusing since the show is set initially during the WWII era, but the staging was inventive. Shout out to the terrific orchestra and Ali Louis Bourzgui whose voice was strong and rich. The audience (including me) was standing and cheering midway through the finale. This is one of the few Broadway productions which I would have loved to go back to the box office and get in line to experience it all over again! Alas, I could not.

Oh man, I loved this album when it came out. Wish I could see the show, even though I'd be one of the people who would nitpick every detail that got changed....

I saw it a couple times, pre-broadway in Chicago. Really loved it!

Just saw it. Having seen the ‘93 version as well, I’d have to say the new revival even surpasses the original. Great show. I think the “in the future” message is a metaphor for a cult of personality with its fascistic overtones (which Tommy rightfully rejects) as a circumstance never too far away. (Witness our current times).

I saw this production not too long ago and I really loved this production. It's not perfect, but I feel it gets across the messages it's trying to tell without it being too confusing. Here's my interpretation of what the futurist aspect is supposed to represent. Modern mirrors these days are our phones and screens. We like to project and REFLECT what we want people to see without actually truly looking at our real selves. The future headset is like the Oculus VR headsets we use to project our Avatars in VR Chat rooms. Hence why during the second act of the show all the blank heads we see are Avatars, the mirrors we create for ourselves to hide our true reflection. Call me pretentious, but that's what I got out of it
