It just sounds like Zeus wanted to kidnap a girl and when Sisyphus told on him he got pissed. The fact that Sisyphus was a tyrant was just really convenient.

Because he gets better and better at pushing the ball and doing something to perfection is one of the purest forms of joy.

Sisyphus is literally all of us when we struggle day to day. Sisyphus is happy because each day he gets a little closer to a new high, just as we get a closer to our goal, and once its accomplished, while we dont start from 0 like Sisyphus, we start something new again, which is a new kind of 0. So one must imagine Sisyphus happy, because we are ourselves happy when we roll our own boulders.

I’m pretty sure the reason for Sisyphus never stopping is because he does not want the gods to win. He wants to continue, as the moment he gives up pushing the boulder up the hill, is the moment he loses to the gods. Sisyphus (I think) is supposed to be the story of the indomitable human spirit and the will to continue.

The Sysyphus story conveys a sense of playfulness. You just have to look at it from the rock's perspective.

I feel like the role of the rebellious, the revolt, in Camus is never fully recognised even though it is central to his writing. We recognise that the search for fulfilment, the search for happiness, is a sisyphusian task, yet we never give up, we are in constant rebellion, we keep looking where nothing will ever be found, but this is enough to fill ones heart. Sisyphus happiness doesn't stand from a recognition of the absurd but precisely by his everlasting denial of it. Because even if punished with eternal torment, Sisyphus says to himself: All is well.

Sisyphus's struggle reminds me of the same struggle of samsara the cyclical nature of existence. His existence was changed by the gods and yet he still derives meaning from it i think thats the thing that makes me incredibly intrigued with sisyphus the meaning and struggle that allows him to experience those moments of bliss and happiness at their fullest no matter how small they may be.

that has to be the most depressing ending I have ever heard, endlessly chasing for love, money and happiness, is that what we were put on this earth for, is that why we exist in the first place, just to 'live in the moment' our entire lives were just for nothing, I simply cannot live with the fact that we must search for something that will never come to us, for it will never be enough, nothing is enough to the human thinking. That chase to happiness isn't even getting it but instead just living in the moment. Live our lives to the most as possible, and what do you propose that is, raise a family, eventually that wont be enough, gain money and wealth, eventually that wont be enough, find a new practice that would benefit the earth, eventually that work would wither away and so few would remember it. I hate that sisyphus is getting cliché. I remembered him bcus in high school I once said a task was sisyphean, and my friends bullied me for liking the myth and legend class. Then years later the game Hades came out, and I was like I know that guy! But now man, there's no cool moments when someone references him and you understand. I wonder if historians felt the same way when Sun Tzu became a meme.

Sisyphus is about control of one's self. His own destiny. Even though he's condemned to eternally roll that rock up that mountain, the purpose of the task is to break him. So one day he gives up, a broken man. But he's not broken. He keeps going. He is happy, because this is HIS task. In that way, he has control. In that way, he's won.

Sisyphus has escaped punishment and fooled the gods multiple times but I think him enjoying his punishment is an even bigger middle finger to the gods lol

Asking what's the fycking point would be ironic. It's so damn fycked up. I get to play video games all day long, but when I stop playing them, I feel like shit. I can get drunk, party hard, but after it ends, I'm gonna feel worse than initally. I get it's all about the mindset, that Democrit of Abdery didn't have shit, and he still was happy, but that's kinda a leap of faith as well. I've also heard about those "abusrd heroes" Caus wrote about, about conqueror, and shit, but idk, it's a hard pill to swallow. If I'm gonna end up as a feast for maggots, then better sooner than later, even though I'm gonna say otherwise, when I actually face death. I'm gonna notice the value of life, and I'm gonna think of all the things I didn't do but I wish I did. But now I don't feel like doing any of these (or rather to fight to get them), and that adds to this whole absurdity of existence. It's such a fyking cruel yoke.
