i loved this video so much! you've stuck by him the whole time during his rehab and by the end of it your bond is going to be so so strong, you'll both have so much trust for each other and you've both got each others back!

It may or may not work for you and Woody - every horse and rider and situation is so different - but when I first got my horse who hadnt done much trail riding out to new places especially on roads with cars, dogs lawnmowers etc. I hand led him on the lead rope the first few times and practiced him trotting alongside me as I jogged and changing gaits from first my energy, breathing then voice cues and then halter and rope if I needed to. Took the extra stress of a rider on his back out of the equation while taking everything else in. And if I feel my horse is at his tipping point and its safe to do so I just get off and lead him until he calms down and then I get back on. I don’t see the point in staying on until the horse throws you off. So glad Woody is recovering so well enjoy every moment ❤

All I do is hack out on riding school ponies who are gorgeous and well behaved and I love it but I still have to go to the loo about 3 times beforehand and get the butterflies so don't worry too much about how you feel riding Woody atm!!

You really couldn't ask for a more well-behaved horse 💙 Woody was amazing, and I can only imagine you feeling anxious for many, many reasons before your hack. The huge worry when Woody has come so far ♥️ It was so lovely to see you out hacking 😊

I changed to a chest mount for the same reasons you outline here! Agree the hat mounted camera is best for overall viewpoint, but its hopeless to control.

Go Woody!! Don't blame you being anxious at all, definitely a challenge! You're both doing so well, it's so nice to watch ☺️

I Havnt watched in ages as don’t often go on youtube now with 2 horses both ridden by myself and work I’m pretty busy . I’m so pleased your able too ride him again and he’s actually quite calm after rehab . It’s not easy . I had too do the same after Tom my Dartmoor had really bad lami so off for a year only started work last feb but he wasn’t as calm as this out hacking. Trying too canter on the lanes again when trotting lol 😂 he’s perfectly fine now and in full work . Is the sedaline good from the vet did the vet recommend too take the edge of ? The chest mount is better as safer , but better on helmet. still a good view from chest mount. Really well done with woody xx

Awe 😍 woody is so cute! Such a handsome boy. I'm new here, so I just finished watching some of your older videos. I'm glad you both are doing well and healed from your injury. Your hack experience,b sounds like something that would happen to me lol. I always have the worst luck with everything. I hope you are feeling better. ❤️

I introduced all traffic including tractors to mine at home before going out, with them switched off, then on, then moving away, then past him, helped a great deal, would help in reintroducing yours 🙂♥️ (Warwick Schiller does a great video on traffic)

I know it’s easier said than done but I wonder if you can use his giddiness on hacks ( as a means to reduce anxiety) as a positive thing? It means he’s well and pain free. Try to reframe the giddy ness - anxiety with giddyness- happiness he’s 💪🏻 it’s hard I know and of course you’ll be anxious but it may help ❤❤

I have a question, not particularly related to this video. 🌾 As an equestrian in Canada I’m really curious as to when and why you feed haylage. I’ve never seen it fed to horses here before, only cattle. Do you feed it in the UK due to costs or availability of hay during different seasons? Is it a way to balance the diet? I’m really curious. Here we will feed different types of hay, depending on dietary need and budget; anything from local round bales, to timothy, orchard grass and alfalfa square bale.

Love this! I really do admire you and Woody for how well you have both coped through the rehab. I have just seen your insta post re the vet update and I really hope everything is okay 🤞🏻 Also I liked the GoPro view from the chest mount - would be interested to know which one you have if you wouldn't mind sharing? I have one and it was too low so ended up getting no scenery in 🤣

Thank you ! Hopefully it’s nothing serious. This was filmed on my Hero 7 Black. I have a 9 Black too which I used instead of this until recently when it broke!

Chest mount is safer from my experience, i notice when i am jumping and camera is on helmet then my helmet slides on my eyes and it is not safe at all 🙂

So happy to see a classic GoPro vid! Good for you and Woody--when you feel anxious, remember your own video where you saw how much your breathing affects him, and take a deep breath :). (So much easier said by armchair viewers than in the saddle in the moment!) In terms of the camera, I did feel more motion in this version but it sort of feels like we're truly riding along with you! If it's at all possible to wear the camera just a tiny bit higher up on your chest, that would give a bit more scenery and slightly less of Mr. Woody's head--but that's the tiniest of nitpicks. Congratulations on all your progress!

Thanks for the feedback Abby! Let me do some fiddling and get it further up, I think that’s a fair comment. I’m also going to speak to Champion and see if it’s safe to put it on my hat, which would be ideal! Thanks for the lovely note.
