ALL bone cancer is excruciating. She had multiple myeloma....a friend of mine had that for her last 2 yrs and was in tremendous pain for all of it. The other problem is that the affected bone can suddenly snap with even minimal pressure.....that would account for the mobility issues. The Queen's last pix with that smile and warm face are miraculous, considering how much pain she must have been in.... she was a GREAT lady.

@@Celisar1 I don't know where you get your information, but bone cancer does cause excruciating pain. I have seen it a thousand times in my career as a death & dying nurse (palliative & hospice.) I have given many a final dose of Morphine for those poor people who waste away to mostly skin and bone, then beg for death because of the pain. Please do not continue to go around saying that it's painless or not as painful as something else. Because it's not true. @@ABC1701A Many people have the same thing on their death certificates. My grandfather has it on his and we all know he died of a stroke caused by fall. Technically it doesn't mean they lied at all. My goodness all these titles:) Obviously it hits the first round the hardest ie Edward ( who didnt want titles for his own kids, so I am sure he understands) and Harry s kids ( though H and M are not interested in titles ie Just call me Harry and MM abhors the British culture and traditions - rascits and sexists in her opinion, so they are ok with no titles for their children being raised in America).

There is only ever one Princess Royal at a time, and she is the eldest (or only) daughter of the reigning monarch; as Princess Anne is our current Princess Royal, and hopefully will be with us for many years to come, it’s going to be quite a while before we have our next Princess Royal. Regarding the Earl and Countess of Wessex, years ago HMTQ and the Duke of Edinburgh held a meeting with the then Prince of Wales (now King Charles III) where they told him that upon their deaths (and his accession to the throne), his youngest brother was to be given the title Duke of York; once King Charles III has been crowned, he will be able to do this.

I don't believe anything "Lady" Colin Campbell or Penny Junor have to say about the Royal family anymore. Those two jump on the Charles bandwagon and are just in it to make a buck. It never stops them from writing books about Diana, even though they despise her. They're harsh with the Queen and Prince Philip because they didn't baby poor Prince Charles when he was a lad and then didn't give him his way about Camilla after he married Diana. He was overhead saying he didn't want to be the only POW without a mistress in history and he was going to continue to see Mrs PB whether they liked it or not. He didn't care if it hurt Diana's feelings or not as he got the heir and spare. She just needed to tow the line and do her schedule. He was still jealous that she was the star of the royal family. He wanted it to be all about him, the action man. He's been plotting and planning behind the Queen's back for decades. Now both he and Camilla got exactly what they wanted all along. Especially Camilla, she got her handsome Calvary Officer and her little family and had the affair of the ages, but instead of going away quietly she lurked until she got the ultimate prize. To be Queen. The 2 of them acted like they cared about the Queen in her final years, but it was just for show. Now look at what Chuckles is doing to her beloved family. Smiled in her face and is stabbing her in the back now. Those 2 "writers" will and have justified everything he's ever done and will continue to do so. I'm ok with being even handed, because no one is perfect, but it's always someone else's fault. Never Charles'.

A cousin of my mother married an aristocrat. She was of the Queen's generation. What I learned from observing her was: One never spoke of one's illnesses. If it came up, one changed the subject and minimized it. For instance, pneumonia, if it had to be mentioned was a bad cold at the most. Apart from being a matter of manners and breeding, I believe the Queen had other reasons for keeping her health issues private. On a professional level, the whole world would have jumped on the news like a dog on a bone. Some people would have tried to use the situation to their advantage . On a personal level, who wants to have to be reminded every minute of everyday that they are ill? It would have been on the news and on every newspaper and KZfaq channel. Her Majesty kept up on the news. She likely did not want her health issues and guesses as to when she would pass on the front pages, especially if other important news were pushed back, ignored or forgotten.

I don't know if it is true or not but when you hit 90, pretty much whatever actually kills you is almost always attributed to old age. That said, bone cancer does make sense given her apparent symptoms. Chemo makes you susceptible to bruising. My Mom, brother and I all had cancer. Mom didn't survive. I'm 16 years in remission and my brother is 24 years in remission. It would also explain her quick decline in terms of her physicality. She was never terribly big to start with but she really shrank in those last 6 months, common with cancer patients of any ilk.

There is a story I heard of a Church of Scotland minister who was at Balmoral and asked the Queen if there was anything she still wanted to do (this was this summer) and she said "I would love to live long enough to see Christ come back so I can cast my crown at his feet".

Lady C (Lady Colin Campbell) also confirmed this in a round-about way. My late Dad had Bone Cancer in the lower spine. Dad didn't have Chemo, only isolated radiation, and his went into remission very soon. Dad's Oncologist was shocked ... so prayers, and miracles DO WORK!!! However, the stupid Oncologist FORGOT to wean Dad off Morphine patches, so Mom continue to apply them (strongest) every 3 days. Bloody Morphine grilled Dad's brilliant brain, and he went downwards after a few years ... so despondent that his memory was fading. Towards the end, Dad started to refuse to eat and faded away ... just short of 90yrs of age. Mom lived on until 92 yrs, but unfortunately, soon after Dad's Crossing, Mom was diagnosed with Dementia, so she was a zombie for her last 4 years or so. 😢😭😭

It would be grossly unfair and a slap in the face to the Earl and Countess of Wessex. They have been integral in helping with official engagements for years now due to all the turmoil within the family. Plus he took on the role overseeing the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme as Prince Phillips health declined and thereafter his death. Princess Charlotte won’t be able to actively take the role on for another 10 years or more. King Charles cannot ask his brother to act as caretaker for that long. This is why Prince Harry and his wife needed to remain active royals to support his father. But he turned his back on him, his brother, his family and his country and went whining to the American press about how he’d been cut off financially. And yet the two of them get to parade their titles across America.

None of us know how Edward feels about this. If anyone does please chime in. If Charles is honourable he will make them them the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh as promised. It's not a title of importance. It does not include any territorial landholdings and does not produce any revenue for the title holder. It's strictly an inherited title that is currently held in high regard because of it being Philip and the Queens title first. Well third really.. Needless to say Edward and Sophie deserve it. They've been running the DoE awards for YEARS now. It's silly to give it to Charlotte.

What does "Keep the titles close to the line of succession" mean in this context? ~ If Victoria gave the title to her second son, then it would have been OUT of the line if he passed it on. Charlootte will be in Edward's position once George has a successor. It will be OUT of the line quickly. Edward was the son of the Monarch, she and the present Duke, wanted him to have it. So, I am confused? Anne is the 2nd born of Queen Elizabeth. She is out of the line and far down it as each Royal child is born. What would happen if Anne got the title? Same thing as Charlotte.

It’s just someone trying to stay on Charles’ good side making an excuse for him. There’s no good excuse for Charles to withhold the title that was promised to Edward by Elizabeth and Philip. I think people in the media are just testing the waters to see how the public would react so they can try to find some way to spin it. Hopefully Charles isn’t so cold-hearted that he would betray the wishes of his parents. But we’ll see, I guess.

To imagine her agony, in dressing to meet Liz Truss, in extreme pain while smiling and doing her job, in her official capacity, she never caved for pain. Duty and service first, personal needs were much lower down her 'pecking order' of choices to be concerned about. Didn't she get out of bed, get dressed, stand and shake hands with Liz Truss in agony, and then passed 2 days later? WOW! This takes duty and service to a whole new level. Several very reliable sources have shared HMTQ's cancer diagnosis, and I do believe it to be true. For HMTQ it was self last!

Old age can be specified as the underlying cause of death, but it 'should' also mention in part one or part two of the death certificate, as 'appropriate', any medical or surgical conditions that may have contributed to the death. Maybe in the late Queens case, it was not considered 'appropriate' (for whatever reason) for the 'aggravating cause' to be formally recorded. In her last months she never made many public appearances, and when she did it was was quite obvious that her physical appearance had completely changed along with the sudden frailty and blue bruising on her hands. All of this was what caused the 'speculation' that she was suffering from a fatal illness. R.I.P QEII..
