Here I take a close look at the Eastman T64/V, Eastman's take on the popular Epiphone Casino/Gibson ES-330 style guitar. I give you my impression of the Antique Varnish finish used for this line, cover the main specs, and and talk about the build and materials quality.
Of course I provide sound demos, both in isolation and in a mix, and wrap up with my final thoughts.

Happy with my Casino - made in PRC a few years ago but now with Lollars, Bone Nut, 50s Wiring etc - lovely BUT I would love one of these. The Eastmans I have tried are all terrific . . .

With the upgrades I imagine your Casino is pretty close. Then Eastmans are quality instruments, though. Thanks so much for watching

@@leonardgriffieblues5845 yeah. The USA is a lot of guitar. I sold my Chinese ones off. They had been upgraded as well, everywhere. Eastman have a decent rep.

Really nice-sounding and nice-sounding guitars. I think this one could be very tonally versatile: Some Jazz tones in the neck pickup. Some twang or Country or Rock tones in the bridge. Some R&B and Funk sounds with both pickups. I have three semi-hollow Epiphones. Aside from a weight difference, I wonder how this (fully) hollowbody guitar would feel at band practice or gig volumes? I wonder if I’d play it differently than the semi-hollowbody guitars due to some difference in its construction?

Well, I actually did play it for a portion of one show. It did quite well. Sounded beautiful. Of course you have to be aware of the lack of upper fret access (unless you have long, Jimi Hendrix fingers maybe), but traditional blues doesn’t require a lot of high register work so it was no problem for me, but it just depends on your approach. Thanks so much for watching.

😆. I think they’re probably a little more green on camera, but yeah, relic tuners are usually somewhat greenish. Presumably an approximation of what age does to vintage plastic. Of course the standard, non-relic version has nice, new looking tuners. Thanks for watching.

Sounds incredible, but I have to wonder... why not just buy a Gibson since the Eastmans seem to be about 9/10 of the Gibson price?
@leonardgriffieblues5845
@leonardgriffieblues5845 Ай бұрын
Well, the fact is, Gibson hasn’t made the ES-330 (closest Gibson equivalent) for quite a few years and used examples typically run in the $4K range, with an occasional example showing up for maybe $3500. The USA Casino is $3500 new with some dealers discounting them to $3,000. The Eastman, brand new is about $2K or less. And used can be found for as little as $1200 to $1400 on average. If you don’t need the reliced, antique varnish model, they’re about $1800 new. So rather than 90% of the price, it’s really more like 50% on average. Thanks so much for watching.

eastmans are way to expensive , you can get the same guitars ( ES 335/330 ) from stanford ( see maybach /i music germany ) for a lot less money and there just as good .

They do look promising but are somewhat rare in the US. On Reverb for instance, there are virtually none outside of Europe. If they become available in the US, I’d be happy to review one. Thanks for watching.
