I was a Junior in College when “Slippery When Wet” was released. I was already a fan but became a life long fan as they produced hit after hit. “Livin’ on a Prayer hit the charts in the fall of 1986 and Bon Jovi was scheduled to come play at the College I attended. I was able to see them 3 times live in concert during the highest point of their career. It is something I will always cherish and be grateful for being able to see them during those years. One of my favorite songs that actually was not a massive hit was You Want “Make a Memory” If you haven’t heard it, I strongly suggest you do.

The Talk Box has been used in rock music since the 1970s, and was made widely popular by Peter Frampton in the mid 70s with his album Frampton Comes Alive. He wasn’t the first to use it but because his music did so well on the radio it got a very diverse audience. So, Ritchie’s use of it on Bon Jovi songs wasn’t “ahead of its time”

Wanted Dead or Alive is my favorite Bon Jovi song by a long shot. I highly recommend you check it out! I saw Bon Jovi live during the New Jersey tour in 1988 at the Meadowlands in New Jersey. Amazing show! Skid Row opened. Great rabbit hole.

Bon Jovi was my first concert back in 88 when i was 12 years old. When he went flying over me in the audience i fell in love, lol. Loved this band ever since. Great reaction!! 😊

This was my first Arena rock concert! I was only 13 and we had tickets in the 3rd row. Skid Row opened up for them! That show made me a rock fan for life! They were amazing and still are!

I think of the 80s as fun rock mostly. Bon Jovi really epitomizes this so much. They have a varied catalog of course. Jon Bon Jovi had a lot of great hits on his own in the 90’s. It was such a wonderful time with so much great music. ❤️🔥

Bon Jovi are LEGEND!

This was the first "rock" band I ever really listened to. Growing up in early 80s all i was in to was top40 pop (Madonna, Cindy Lauper, Michael, Prince, Lionel Richie) then in 1986 our household finally got access to MTV where we lived - never had it before that. And just a couple weeks after getting it, "You Give Love a Bad Name" video came out, and was like #1 on TOP 20 Vids for 4 consecutive weeks like nothing had ever been #1 that long, and it was ALWAYS on, and I was hooked on the music. Then the video for this song came out and it too was #1 for 4 consecutive hits!! After seeing this video, too, I used my lawnmowing money to go buy the cassette tape of this and listened to it on my Walk-Man every day going to school. Changed my life - I've listened to rock ever since.

I started putting half my money away for college at 12 when I started working. The other half was mostly spent on concerts. Yeah, Bon Jovi can put on a show.

Only person I've seen do that outside the 80's is Garth Brooks at some of his concerts. I think he was more about ziplining down to the stage though. I've only seen it in a few videos of his live performances.

Well, everyone else who does not live in Jersey would disagree with you. Yes, John is a nice guy, but he’s a member of a hairband. One of the better hairbands but still….! Listening to their music is like having a nail driven into my ear.
