Speaker: Ray Lewis
/ raylewis
“I grabbed this deck of cards, and I flipped a 7. And I started doing seven push-ups. I flipped a 6; I did six. I flipped a 9; I did nine. I flipped a 2; I did two. I flipped another 9; I did nine until I got all the way through the deck. Jack, Queen, King worth 10. Aces - 25 and Jokers - 50. Until I got sick and tired of what pain felt like in my gut…I shuffled them all over again, and I started doing sit-ups. I wanted to make sure sports wasn’t the reason I started training. It was to make sure another man never put his hands on my mama…" - Ray Lewis

I definitely think he could use a movie...he was never convicted of a crime. Wrong place wrong time. You can’t fake his emotion, passion, pain. No one can act that good. Besides that, it doesn’t matter what he used to do, or has done. What matters is what he is doing koe

Thank you Ray, for becoming the MAN/KING that you are! I truly applaud you for the LOVE you showed, and for the BLESSINGS GOD HAS BESTOWED UPON YOUR LIFE! Continue to help our YOUNG MEN, as I recall the pain my son and daughters saw, even though they may not remember, because it was traumatic (trauma=PTSD)! My pray for all of us is HEALING IN JESUS' NAME!

Matthew Mckeever You have to understand that that’s the drive that a lot of players have, they work hard so they can give their family and their loved ones what they never had, they play to get out of the projects and get out the hood and give their parents a happy life.

The beginning was the saddest story. As a mother, I would never want my son to walk through this darkness. It changes you permanently. I am glad he shared his story. But the pain of having a mother who had said chose abusive men often and having to bury that to succeed, is a feat. Too many stories are like this across all nationalities. I pray every young man who lived this or in this today, finds his promise and freedom. God knows you and is near....make effort to reach Him. It is a life-changer.

There's 596 total reps in Ray's card method of training, he would do hundreds of push ups and then do sit ups until his body couldn't move. Then probably ran until his legs gave out from under him. His motivation was his mother, to make sure she will never have another man hurt her

Use this time to better yourself, you now have so much time at home that you could be using to improve. So, don't hit the snooze button, wake up before your alarm. Think of life like a timed race, how far can you go in your allotted time. You got your whole life to move forward, use your time to get better, move farther, to win the race. Reminds when I was in the army. We was doing are first ten mile road March. Full gear and even rocks in our rug sacks. It was several miles in. When we did a road March a deuce and a half road with us. Our drill sergeant said if you want to quit get in the back. I remember walking it was horrible. I kept looking at the truck. Drill sergeant walk up to me. Said once you get in the back the first time. Each time it will get easier. Than every time you are hurting you will quit private. This isn't forever what you are feeling. If you quit that will last forever. Keep thinking one more step. Than he just jogged up the line. I didn't look at the deuce and a half again. I kept looking at the ground. Kept thinking five more minutes. After five minutes I thought five more. Until we finished. Never forgot what that drill sergeant said.

I got hurt my senior year of HS football. Torn labrum in my hip, torn acl, mcl, and a stress fracture also in my hip. Doctors told me I would never play again. I had offers from several D3 schools and I couldn’t take any of them. They all gave up on me when I got hurt. For months, I cried, sat around, even tried the easy way out. Then I stumbled upon Ray, Kobe, Ali, Goggins and I started listening. I started the 52 cards, putting in hours on and off the field not for everyone who told me I can’t and I won’t, but that I can say to myself I did and I will. I am a frosh in college now, still working towards a walk on whoever will take me. Thanks Ray.

I am 12 years old. My middle school football team is on its second season being undefeated. I am a strong side line backer and forced 4 fumbles in my last game. But every game I play is for my dad. He died two years ago the same year i started playing football. Every game I get mad that i couldnt have just stayed home another two hours and he would still be here but i lost him. So now every game I keep those two hours i was gone in mind and i hit as hard as i can i think to myself however hard i hit this next dude is how much i miss my dad.

How he says pain and how he feels what he is saying is really motivating. So passionate about his memories about his pain and about life Ray Lewis When some people think of Ray Lewis they think of a person that cheated his way out of murder charges. There is also a majority of people that think that he is one of the greatest linebackers and people of all time. In my opinion just the fact that he bounced back from false murder charges with such enthusiasm was remarkable. He is also a leader on and off the football field and is mentally an physically strong. Also Ray is arguably the best middle linebacker to ever play the game of football. Ray Lewis should be considered a modern day hero because of all of these attributes. Ray Lewis is a modern day hero because of his leadership on and off the football field. One of many examples of Lewis’s leadership is seen everywhere he goes. According to an article, “Lewis is a leader to many people including myself. Sometimes before game at team hotels he has public speaking sessions describing himself and what he has been through in his entire life. In these speaking events he tells how God plays a huge part of life and how that God is the answer to many of your problems. ” Brubaker 3. What Brubaker is saying that Lewis is a leader everywhere he goes even away from the football field and he wants people to know that even though they might they think their lives are bad that to never give up and that you will always find a way through. Lewis also shows amazing leadership qualities on the football field. Statistics show that when he is not playing that the Baltimore Ravens are a different football team. According to an article, “At no point of the 2012 season did the Ravens have Terrell Suggs and Ray Lewis on the field at the same time. Suggs and Lewis are the emotional leaders for that defense, always inspiring teammates with their powerful remarks and refusal to give up”
