I picked up a G3 a couple months ago and dropped an i7-7700k I had and a Zotac gt1030 in it and even that configuration is snappy and good for lower spec gaming. I've been really impressed. Recently found that these were made in a tower form factor as well which I believe would accommodate a full height card.

I love builds like these. It's cool because you never expect an HP SFF office PC to play Cyberpunk at over 60 FPS. Something I've always wanted to do is make a build like this, but put a custom loop in it.

@guily6669
@guily6669 Жыл бұрын
custom loop? That would be pricier than the whole build and totally pointless cause the 7700 sadly has the multiplier locked, if it was the 7700K, then delidding and going extreme cooling for max OC it would still be a fine PC though it's still very far from catching a much weaker 13th gen Intel I3 which is just massively better and with much less wattage than a full OC 7700K😕
@dylanherron3963
@dylanherron3963 Жыл бұрын
@@guily6669 Dude, if you look at this build and think "it would only be worth it if the 7700 was unlocked and de-lidded with liquid metal" than man, this might not be the form factor for you. (or the source PC for you... it's a used factory OEM office PC) A sleeper is entirely for aesthetic, spending money on unexpected internals is literally the entire point.
@guily6669
@guily6669 Жыл бұрын
@@dylanherron3963 but still what's the point of a custom Waterloop on something that will never need it and won't make a difference... I thought a sleeper is supposed to be "something" that is crazy high performance hidden\disguised as something looking so much worse. Also even if this PC had a 7700K would still be a pretty normal thing cause there have always been both I5\I7 K on a bit more expensive office PCs and it's not like even a fully OC one will be much of a "sleeper" PC cause it can't even get close to some of the worse current intel 13th gen I3 on a even uglier office PC case LOL... In fact this won't even get close to the current latest APU's like AMD Ryzen 6800U that go in handheld form factor at least in CPU performance... Ps: what I mean is the custom water cooler should be used on really hot, high wattage chips or for going maximum OC which is exactly the point of a unlocked CPU.

@guily6669
@guily6669 Жыл бұрын
It's totally normal cause it's mostly GPU power in there... at least for 1080P a lot of games can't even push that GPU to the max, like having 60% use only on some games because of lack of CPU+ram combo 😕 The problem of such builds are always the 1% lows and micro stuttering which might get annoying, the avg FPS should always be fine cause most games don't really push physics to the next level for almost a decade sadly...

My PC i've been using for around 6 years now is kinda similar to this one actually. I have the exact same CPU, my GTX 1070 was only slightly better than this one (I have a 2060S now), I didn't even put my emulators on my m.2 I put them on my hard drive, the only upgrade I can see here is that I have 16GB of DDR4 instead of 8. I don't suggest the Dell SFF systems past the xx10 series since they put the x16 slot right next to the PSU, so the A2000 wouldn't fit. HP has some of the best SFF systems and the Z240 is a little better option than this 800 G3 if you can find it about the same price since it has a better PSU, and I think they look a bot better too. And from the looks of it, that 7700 needs a delid.

I ran into this problem with the Optiplex 7060 and 5060 and also the HP Prodesk 600 G4. There's only a single full sized x16 slot and it can only fit a single width card due to the position of the PS. They started to do this with the 8th gen Intel SFF cases - which is one gen later than the PC in the video. It does work if the PS is taken out of the case, with a little bending of the metal and using no bracket whatsover.

My first attempt had wet dirt in it, so they tried washing it out and didn't even remove the dirt so I could identify before it shorted. Second one ripped out the wifi chip and cabling.... Along with switching a good ssd for a cheapo. Also many of the advertised 2400ge chips are swapped for a 2400g which is a mixed bag of more performance for more heat. Lastly, I saw some videos where your performance was only around 7000 night raid, but on the same pc you would get nearly 13000 just by switching to dual channel memory which is cheap.

Its nice to see a GPU like the RTX A2000 be available for so cheap. Because this is an entry level workstation card (like the Quadro cards). It is a little slow, but it's so inexpensive, I would rather have this than RTX 3060 in my Video editing rig, Since it is much more optimised for that work. Honestly, with this card, you can make a rather pocket friendly and super reliable workstation for video editing and VFX. It won't be fast, but it would be more stable and VFX/ editing softwares would be more stable

My watt meter says my system takes 710 watts at the max, I can only assume that is a chunk of my electric bill. When you said this system takes 180 watts, that was an uppercut because my average load while in game on my 4080 alone is in the 250-ish watt range with a peak max that I have seen of 300. I am ready to take a slight downgrade in performance for massive power savings.

Good video. Question I have only is, you said you installed Windows 11 Pro, with no TPM 2.0? Will it affect the Windows updates for it later since no TPM 2.0 support?

In my country 6th gen to 9th gen used CPU are still pretty pricey right now. But Haswell ones are pretty cheap, buy the empty (only mobo + PSU + CPU cooler + case) for 30$ then add 40$ for an i7 4770, 25$ for 16GB RAM, and 80$ for a low profile RX 550 4GB. BOOM, sub 200$ PC that can handle newer games (not RTX A2000 though, that's still around 380$ here lol) Wish we could get parts cheaper than the US as our buying power are pretty crap as minimum wage on big cities are just below 350$ lmao

I had this PC with 8th gen i5 and rx6400 low profile. It was struggling to play things at 1080p low/med settings so I sold the GPU. Glad to know there's a more powerful low profile GPU out there!

rx6400 is known to be a sh*t gpu. Like avoid like the plague. an rx5500 is better than an rx6400. or get an rx6500. Anything but the rx6400.

It would be interesting to know how you overclocked the card and what drivers u have. installed. Ive got an rtx a2000 myself used from ebay and i have no idea how to get more performance out of it. there are a lot of mining guides out there but nothing with gaming. its a shame.

I'm not a modern gamer. I have a $300 Acer laptop that does EVERYTHING I need, and for retro gaming, I have a Rasp Pi 3b+ running RetroPi on a 7" monitor, and a Retro Pocket 3 for gaming on the go (there's also an old Pocket Go handheld with a 2.4" screen I keep in the car for days when I have a lot of waiting to do. Time passes faster playing Super Mario World.) . It's all I need and does everything... Watching your videos has me on the verge of buying a mini pc and a 24" monitor, and using my Monster S300 for sound... I don't NEED it, but it just seems so damn cool. Will I ever play AAA games? Probably not. Almost guaranteed not. PS2 is about the height of my gaming aspirations, so I can relive the thrill of playing Shadows of the Colossus, or try Hollow Knight to get my Metroidvania fix. But thanks to these videos, all I can think about is how much better doing that would be on a Minisforum or Beelink mini computer sitting discreetly beside a crisp monitor. So thanks for that... a new fixation has entered the building.

Pretty much the same machine with GT 1030. The 7700 are known for running very hot. But still able to play some RCPS3 games.

Yeah, I wish I had known before hand but ETA said you could use a Dell SFF optiplex but the 7050 I bought will not fit the RTXA2000 so I'm left with either getting a new case and moving all the components over or getting an HP.

CUK is now including the low profile bracket with the GPU. I ordered 2. One problem is these don't fit in the SFF cases of either Dell or HP for 8th Intel gen or later - I tried with both a Dell Optiplex 7060 and 5060 and also HP Prodesk 600 G4. There's only a single slot space between the full sized slot and the PS. They will work if the PS is removed from the case and operated from the outside.

I've got this laptop and is working fine. I bought a mini PC , wireless keyboard, mouse . All unopened in the corner of the room. Although the laptop is good but you never know. Well the reason I'm posting is I haven't had a " desktop " computer since CRT days. I watch a lot of videos about " modern " monitors. I know enough that I want a 24" no need for a bigger one. Plus a very good viewing angle Then a middle of the road for everything else would be good for me. Do you have any suggestions on monitors ? Where do I look for help or do you trust someone over others with information I'm looking for?

The problem is really a lot of games the GPU is being used a bit over half only at 1080P, but with UE5 upcoming games, that might change fast anyway 😁
