Zizaran brings you one of the strongest league starter, the Seismic Trap Saboteur!
This build features beefy defensive layers, while having good clear speed and extremely high single target damage. It's one of the best bets to tackle all of the new content coming in Path of Exile 3.18!

Hi Zizaran. One question : Wich pair of forbidden Jewel seems better for you ? Asking you because tried "Prolonged Pain" (pretty expensive) and "Harness the Void" (Much sheaper); Made many calculations and trees variations, and "Harness the Void" seem better. But hey, I sucks at PoB Maths. :3

Loving this build, leveling it with poisonous concoction till BA is VERY smooth especially since we're scaling poison+chaos anyway + there's less respec required. Added bonus is that you get shield charge and onslaught for dat speed.

The fastest way to level is Spectral Helix, just grab some life-on-hit claws and the claw nodes on the far right and respec out of them when you swap to traps around level 60. You will absolutely zoom and the blind on hit makes it nice and safe. imexile has a nice video of the leveling process if interested

I’m practicing right now with this build and I used TyTy’s POB and it’s all phys since it’s easier to get going apparently and really strong as well. So far it’s been fun and was a little qwonky until I noticed it’s important to get that first ascendancy node for the life. I had put in all the life tap and was constantly having to manage that but quickly ran lab and it was fixed and the build got waaaay smooth.

Would like to see a crit version covered. Played it last league and it was the first build I've had that was farming Shaper/Elder guardians like T3 maps without crazy gear like CIP. Super easy to scale damage where I feel like Poison is much harder when it needs things like Focus crafts.

Ever look at BigDucks or PathofMatth trapper builds? They are very similar trees with slight differences. If I remember correctly BD's has a little more focus on crit with no clusters while PoM's has crazy high +phys dmg and clusters.

Just wanna say I went from character creation to a deathless t16 juiced baran in 23 hours played (started on the 10th, it's the 12th). This build was so fun I had to force myself to put down playing it. It was trade league, so I'm sure it could be done faster, but I'm not great at this game and this would normally take several days of played time. This build felt like a godsend. Is it worth trying to use multiple Coated Shrapnel jewels to guarantee poison and also utilize explosive traps with their 8-9 multiple explosions to proc up to 9 poison stacks per trap?

Tried this on pretty much this exact tree but with lower lvl char (92) jst the banner I couldn’t fit. I couldn’t get it to work on cwdt set up. Is it jst a get more mana fix via levels and gear? Edit. I’m a tard..... the pob I had did not have the determination in mastery checked

Hey Ziz I’m about level 86 and wanted to try the soft core variant with a lot more damage but then I lose all the strength nodes that let me use my red gems. Anyway around this other than running strength attribute?

felt clunky to play after the swap to exsanguinate because the traps didnt kill fast so i was having to stand aound spamming them which suprisd me because i thought they were meant to be fast clear tools. not sure if i missed something in the notes...

Physical more damage, but it is better for SC. Poison is mainly used in the HC community.

According to Path of Matths poison is more defence and crit more damage, so poison more suitable for HC.

I prefer the poison one personally. Your damage on both is plenty, poison gets onslaught, and the dot playstyle makes bossing feel a bit better. Clear is totally fine on both.

It rocks, played it last league. Started as arc ignite, but once i got to yellow maps damage felt really low so i did a minor respec into EA and it's one of the best of not the best build i played to date. Works for both bossing and clearing as i used a bowswap with a second divergent EA setup for instant ignites (less stacks and damage tho but still onehit t16 rares)

This build's damage is hard to calculate in PoB because you send out a ton of traps to apply a million poisons. People compete with this build in the gauntlet so that tells you enough about how good its boss killing is. -Skryah

I think this is THE best sc starter, hands down. DD and EA vallista 2nd, think sc players that wanna respecc to Omni Ls is best of with marauder or champ :)

In the video, you say that the trapper is "not as tanky as something like explosive arrow," but the stats in the pob of the trapper exceed the chapion EA ballista builds defenses by quite a bit. Even the Midgame gear for trapper has a higher effective hit pool AND eff max hit taken for every damage type. What am I missing? Edit: The champion EA POB does not have its molten shell turned on by default

Effective HP is a bad number to follow exclusively, it's a vague ballpark of how the build might fare against an average situation, not great against outlier content (bosses, juiced maps, tougher map mods). In addition to that, there's certain defensive layers that don't get reflected in eHP such as life regen; being able to recover 2k life a second can make the difference between dying and not, where a higher eHP build might only have 400-600 regen. Finally, somewhat related to life regen, degens are their own category of damage entirely and you should pay zero attention to eHP when considering degens. Something life regen can counter that, again, isn't reflected in eHP calculations.

@@prodigythirteen2242 okay so your response is that i should consider things like regen, which would suggest that the trapper is tankier because it has a reliable form of self regeneration, while the champion only has a life flask? Unless the champ has some inherant defense against dots i didnt notice

@@dreadwoe7661 now you're focusing too much on just degen damage. My point wasn't that regen exclusively is the difference, its that regen is one of many small pieces that come together to create a tankier build. Without opening PoB and doing a side by side comparison, I couldn't tell you offhand why one is tankier than the other. Just don't treat effective HP as a magic number that tells you how good a build is at not dying.

Does anyone happen to know how does Focus work with traps, the helmet mod that increases the duration of ailments while Focused, does it take into account the increased duration when you throw the trap, or when the trap activates, or when the damage goes out? Basically what I'm asking, when does it snapshot? Should I Focus before I throw the traps, or before it activates?

ive never played this build or a RF build, yesterday i thought "yeah lets try RF", but now im torn. i think ill play this, my league starters are almost always bad bossers, so thats something different

RF is Hard to level, Hard to Gear, Requires lots of Currency. But its a Passive gameplay, Can play wiht one Hand. Trapper is Easy to level, Easy to Gear, Requires no Currency. But its an Active gameplay that requires positioning and clicking.

I can't say for certain on the poison variant as I've not specifically played the poison version, But as for the regular crit version of seismic, Mages can't even compete. (I would honestly assume the same for the poison variant) Skele mages are really good for a lot of reasons, but Seismic has been pretty much "broken" damage wise for a few leagues now. I think I was up to 25-30m dps on my skele mages back in 3.15/3.16, but my Seismic trap build I did the same league was killing a LOT faster on bosses and mega juiced maps. The main thing I found "different" about the builds that made me like one vs the other, Mages were so bloody easy in blight maps I just afked after Vaal summon basically. Seismic (while it completely destroys blight) requires you to be active. On the flip side, During Expedition (even in maps) sometimes it took more than a few seconds to kill some buffed mobs (due to not paying attention to my choices lol) for skele mages. meanwhile, With seismic setup before the bombs go off, everything instant-deletes itself that it really just felt like expedition was blowing up chest with no mobs. (with poison variant you will likely have to wait for them to melt a bit though)

There's something I don't get. When you said you swap to Exsanguinate Traps at 38 I noticed they deal like 10% of the damage my Lightning Traps do. How come? Are they dependant on 100% Poison or how do I scale the exsanguinate trap damage?

This happened to me, I found a fix Just play with it and keep powering through the acts - - > LEVEL UP THE GEMS < - - If you don't think that you can in your current act, go back a few acts and level them up there. After I ran with Exsanguinate for like 1 full act, they got to an ok DPS You can look at the Exsanguinate wiki page to see how much they scale off levels, level 8 does 10x the damage as level 1, (I think).
