Emerald and Platinum, despite being considered two of the best games in the entire franchise, didn't sell particularly well because players and critics didn't feel there were enough changes to R/S and D/P to warrant paying full price for a new game. That's probably why Gamefreak stopped selling a third "definitive edition" game for each generation. We all remember them as masterpieces however, because A.) They WERE masterpieces, and B.) We have emulators now and can play said masterpieces for free.

Sinnoh had that rough hp situation where it would take a year to deplete some pokemons health.

That's completely irrelevant to the sales numbers. It's the kind of thing you'd put in a school essay to meet a minimum word count. Most creators struggle to _cut_ enough content to make them fit within KZfaq Shorts' time limit, but you somehow managed to have the opposite problem!

That Darkrai brought back memories!! I had a Darkrai that I used against my friends that was unbeatable!! It was so insanely fast that I would put them to sleep immediately then throw on a nightmare and watch their life slowly seep away. My friends hated it and I remember everyone at school working together to try to figure out a way to beat my Darkrai 😂 Good times

Yo, I actually got a copy of Platinum in with a small box of random DS games and a flea market. Didn't even notice it at first till I got back to were I was sat up at.

I specifically remember it coming out in the USA, they tried to duplicate the yellow hype release but gold n silver were going strong on their own. Not to mention release date and availablility were super vague

I mean... if you think about it, it makes sense why Crystal, Emerald and Platinum were the worst selling games. It's not that they were bad or anything. They just didn't sell well, because when they came out, most people already had the previous version of those games, so buying another version that didn't actually add that much compared to the original was just not worth the price for most people. They're still the definitive versions of generations 2,3 and 4 though, and definitely the best way to play them. There's a good reason, why they cost a small fortune in online markets now.

Platinum is such a good game! I played it in an emulator a while ago and I can't remember how much time of my life I spent in it! Approximately 500 hours, I guess. The Team Galactic arc was good, and the Spear Pillar was also perfect! It probably didn't sell well because people had already bought D/P which took like an eternity to deplete health and there weren't many changes from D/P to Pt. Although, Pt introduced a lot of new generation things.

Ever since I was 7, I wanted to play Pokemon, but my parents wouldnt get me the games. 6 years later, my grandma came in clutch and got me a Nintendo Switch with 4 games: Miitopia, Mario Odyssey, Animal Crossing, AND POKEMON SHIELD Thanks Grandma, for allowing me to finally accomplish my dream after 6 years

mine is yellow, it kinda goes by the original anime, you fight jessie and james, and you get pikachu first, and if you talk to the right people, you get all 3 of the other starters throughout the game with the same backstories to those pokemon.

Pokemon RSE by far the best. Still the only game you can dive underwater in. The Hoenn years were the best in the anime too. It was peak Ash Brock and Misty with May and Max. Pokemon contests added a lot to the show.

I loved Platinum, it was so sick, that was the first time I got a shinny pokemon it was a Green Zubat hahaha still I remember vividly how I stumbled upon him. Also Giratina was so cool at least when it was in its flying form, not the one with the chunky legs haha

Pokemon Y was my favorite for a few reasons The reason for the bad guys was something i could agree with Froakie ( i will not say anymore about him) The story was one that was few and far between. From the king being obsessed with a pokemon to then trying to bring it back to learning what he did was wrong and accepting it. All the way to meeting tierno and helping him with shauna and serena. And at last the music. I loved the music

I'm kind of partial to Gen II: Gold and Silver. Getting two entire regions crammed onto one cartridge is truly impressive. Nowadays, the Kanto region would probably be DLC for a Gold/Silver/Crystal remake.

It makes sense since when it was released alot of people would have had Diamond or Pearl and wouldn't have seen the reason to buy a newer version of the same game lol My favourite game personally is either Moon or Shield, Moon because it was my first game so I have alot of good memories playing, and Shield because I love Dynamax Adventure, and also the designs of the towns are my favourite, like the game is just gorgeous

Gold, Crystal, and Emerald are the ones that give me the most memories. But if I have to pick 1 as my favourite, I'd say Crystal because it added so much that became the norm for all games going forward and I remember how cool that I found the new changes. Crystal was the first to add animated pokemon in battles, a battle tower, male/female character, a sign at the bottom of the screen telling you the name of the area that youve just entered, and it started more focus on sub quests meaning that there was more to do alongside following the main storyline.
