I was lucky enough to get a fang on 10kc and it was so wild. I would run fang only barrows and kill them so fast I could leave before the prayer drain almost every time without max melee stats

Pre nerf the thing was even more incredible. What made Jagex nerf it was the outrage it created by being the best weapon at many bosses including Nightmare, Nex, and etc. At the time it was 180m and rising until they nerfed the defense re-roll which Jagex called a “mistake”.

The dps includes specs, but I agree that the ZCB spec can be used at many bosses before switching back to your main weapon and that would increase your dps.

That's absolutely fine mate, the fang I tested against the rapier because I also found the dps calculators to be wrong lol. I actually tested the fang against the rapier so I knew the exact difference at various bosses and the used that to work out other bosses. The reality is the dps calculators are amazing but a 5% discrepancy doesn't surprise me, since their formulas are not 100% perfect but outside of spending 2-3 hours using every weapon at every boss, it's as accurate as we currently have. I used BIS gear and compared the 2 best calculators to each other, amended a few bosses defences that had no stats for some reason and manually ran checks for certain weapons like the tum shadow and fang. If you watch my rapier vs fang video you will see exactly how much the fang is better at certain bosses, but in the dps calculators some of them have the rapier ahead. I think that is just because the mechanics of those two weapons (fang and shadow) are unique, so the calculators aren't perfect which is why I had to amend those.

@@LilratbagsOsrs yeah like I mentioned the bitter/koeke calculator spreadsheet is the most widely accepted for meta dps calcs. You should be able to find it and make a copy. But like I said I don’t want to discredit the work you put in and I know you’ve been over this stuff quite a bit. But I run calcs constantly for people to find the best methods with a given budget. It’s one of my favorite things to do actually. So I apologize but I tend to notice if things are slightly off. Don’t let me discourage you though you’re still doing good work and producing helpful content I’m just a nit picky high level pvmer lol.

For melee you got rapier and dhlance (stab), blade of saledor(slash), bludgeon, inquisiters mace(crush), d haly for stacking aoes and the fang for high deffence moster. For ranged you got blowpipe, cannon, or t bow. (Cross bow gives probably less slayer xp than melee in most cenarios). If you wanna use magic for slayer you wanna use ancients of course with a kodai wand or a nightmare staff. T shadow has a very high dps for 1 to 1 so it is also very good for some tasks(ex:gargoyles if you dont skip em).

There is no such thing as a non-degradeable magic or range weapon except for corrupted bowfa, but the bowfa isn’t very good without crystal armor (which degrades). They all use some form of “charges”. So melee would have the only actual non-degradable general slayer weapon(s).

Kinda hard to put just a singular weapon for each type, Fang is a good overall choice for melee, Dragon hunter crossbow has marginally more stats than a dragon crossbow, isn't niche like the twisted bow, and is obviously even better against dragons than the Armadyl/Zaryte crossbow. Harmonised staff for mage.

It was just the main dps mate for this vid, but obv the ZCB spec is very useful. I think it was Behe that showed someone maxing range in record time with the ZCB using spec transfer against zebak.

@@LilratbagsOsrs if you are doing one of these vid for spec weapons may i also mention the accursed scepter, it is a range DWH 10% more accurate and also lowers magic lvls, meaning it boosts the shadow even further

It did, it just doesn't take in to account the fact the spec alone is op and can be used and then you can switch to another weapon.

With the chins I kinda agree but you can also use another weapon after the melee minion dies. But this is the issue with dps calculators, they are a very good guide but can never factor in all these small details like you say and game knowledge is also important. There was a similar result with alchemical hydra and the dps calculators rating melee better than range, but realistically you move to much for melee apart from the final part. However I couldn't alter the numbers so just had to put a note on it. Zulrah I just did the dps against what colour a weapon was best against. The three weapons I ran the most checks on were the arclight, fang and shadow because I'm not completely confident in the results either, due to their unique mechanisms so I appreciate the feedback.

@@LilratbagsOsrs Yeah that's true. Kree'arra is a tough one. Chins + tbow is really good. But also shadow with sceptre spec is probably close behind if not better than straight tbow. It also leaves room for more supplies which lead to longer trips. So dps across the time span of multiple trips, shadow with sceptre probably overtakes. But that's kind of picking at the weeds. Haba

DPS wise Black Chins are bis even if you don’t have a TBow. The issue though is dying because if you bring in 1k chins that’s 3m down the drain.

Costs 50% more though. I'll take fang over whip
