Join me on this grueling 21-mile round-trip adventure from Happy Isle trailhead in Yosemite Valley up to the majestic Clouds Rest. Clouds Rest stands at 10,000 feet elevation offering a 360-degree view of Yosemite. Truly one of the best views in the park. Most people start the clouds rest trail at Sunrise Lakes Trailhead by Tenaya Lake but I decided to tackle the route from Yosemite Valley to take on the 10.5 mi., 6000-foot elevation gain challenge. On the way down, I came down the mist trail to capture some amazing shots of Vernal and Nevada Falls. Let me know if you have any questions and don't forget to subscribe to ‪@theyosemiteguyd‬ Much Love! :)

Don't know how funny this will be. So many wonderful views and exciting trails in Yosemite you are blessed to have that so close. The blue sky was extra vibrant and those majestic cedars were amazing. Hope your hip feels better, I'm due a replacement and have found anti inflammatories give some relief but only for so long. You were setting a good example, I spied another BF hiker at 13:29. Thanks for including the trail map I also looked at the 3D google and salute your cardio stamina. Always a high point of my day when I see you've posted. Best wishes for continued health and happy trails to you !

Thx man. Hip is all good. It seemed to fix itself as I was going down. 😀 And I had a more detailed trail map I wanted to include at the end but forgot cause it was so late last night while I was editing the video. Hope you get that hip fixed up though. That's no joke. Well, I guess it would be a joke if I said I hope you find a donor match soon for your hip. But seriously, I do wish you the best! And the guy at 13:29 was just drying his socks, but a lot of hikes I do get someone to take their shoes off. 😀

@@theyosemiteguyd I'll get the replacement, 1st Doc I saw was not for me. Did explain some of the imaging results but had a god complex. I'm bone on bone so my trail mileage is awful. Glad i can watch you powering around on mother natures finest.... You edited in 1 night, you are speedy. Take care ! Have fun

It’s one of my favs but I like to feel the pain. It’s is a really really tough day hike. Probably won’t be ready for another week and a half though do to snow towards the top still.

@@theyosemiteguyd Yeah... I'm wired that way too. Might be a guy thing. But I like to torture myself. I would never bring along a friend for this one - has to be solo so you can get into your own head. Sentinel Sat. shows it's snow free but I won't be ready to get up there for another week anyway. Once again, good job on the vid. You were totally the "guy'd" on this one. Take care.

Great suggestion. I know I need to be a bit more informative on the trail heads and such. I'm lucky to live close enough to do day hikes and drive home same day. My hometown of oakhurst is a great place to stay if you can't get accommodations inside the park though.

I did this hike in 2021 - something I'd been wanting to do since the mid 1980's. What an epic hike! The scenery from the Clouds Rest trail is superb (even on the Yosemite scale). I have this crazy notion to do Happy Isles to Clouds Rest to Tenaya Lake to Mount Watkins to Mirror Lake - 28 miles, 7200' of climb - as a day hike. Was hoping to do it last year - but there was a fire on the Snow Creek trail during my scheduled visit, closing the trail. Hoped to do it this year, but the snow made it impossible until too late in the year (I want to do it on June 21 when there's 16 hours of daylight). Maybe next year! Thanks for the video!

Man, I like your style!! That sounds like an amazing route. I love pushing the limits on my day hikes. And that seemed to be the theme for all my early summer hiking... too much snow. Thanks for watching!! :)

Thanks for this. I attempted this in July and got a little bit past the plateau where I was just completely exhausted. Came back down to the spot had a sandwich and then came back down. I didn't make it to the final sign and coming down my legs were just shot felt disabled. Was sore for like a week before I could walk normal. 😂. Still enjoyed every minute of it and will probably do the easy side next attempt.

Great video. I haven't been to Yosemite in years which is a shame since i live in Merced. How long did the hike take you? I didn't know there was another way to the top. I thought the only way was to cross the spine.

It took me 5 hours to get up there and closer to 4 hours to come down. And starting from sunrise lakes trailhead is definitely the better way to get to clouds rest. I just like to feel the pain I guess. 😀

Great video! I hiked Half Dome for the first time a few weeks ago. This hike is next on my list. Is Little Yosemite Valley still the last spot to filter water?
@theyosemiteguyd
@theyosemiteguyd Жыл бұрын
Half dome is awesome. I'll probably do that sometime next month. There's water 3.8 miles from the top clouds rest on the half dome side. But you should really do it starting at sunrise lakes trailhead. It's 15 miles round trip and a really cool trail.
