Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig announced on January 19, 2000, that the 30 Major League club owners voted unanimously to centralize all of Baseball's internet operations into an independent technology company. Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM) was formed and charged with developing, building and managing the most comprehensive baseball experience available on the internet. In August 2002, MLB.com streamed the first-ever live, full length MLB game when the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees faced off at Yankee Stadium. Since that time, millions of baseball fans around the world have subscribed to MLB.TV, the live video streaming product that airs every game in HD to nearly 400 different devices. MLB.com also provides an array of mobile apps for fans to choose from, including At Bat, the highest-grossing iOS sports app of all-time. MLB.com also offers extensive historical information and footage, online ticket sales, official baseball merchandise, authenticated memorabilia and collectibles and fantasy games.
Major League Baseball consists of 30 teams split between the American and National Leagues. Felix has always been my favorite Mets send basemen. He was a fixture who played excellent defense and a solid hitter who was almost impossible to strike out. I've been to the Mets Fantasy Camp twice and Felix was there both times. One night during that week, I ran into him at a convenience store which was just a short walk across the street from where I was staying and he offered to give me a ride. I declined because it was so close and I didn't want to impose on him. I should've, then I could always say that Felix Millan gave me a ride. Not too many Mets fans could say that.

Today's kids just don't know how to play like Felix and unfortunately many smaller players are prevented from having success as they are looked down on. If you are a student of the game, you realize how important players like Felix are. Sitting back and waiting for the home from run can lose a lot of games. Great, gutty, smart and a winner.

In 1975 Joe Torre hit into four consecutive double plays in four consecutive at bats. After the game Joe said tongue in cheek: “it’s all Felix Millian’s fault. If he had not gone four for four in front of me, none of this would have happened!” No doubt, Felix had a great laugh about that. Great interview here and Felix is clearly a great person.

What a great gentleman and a class act. Millan was one the first ballplayers I ever became aware of, as he was in the first pack of baseball cards my dad bought me when I was a little kid. It was Millan's 1970 card, the year he batted .310 and scored 100 runs with the Braves.

Never forget watching the Mets vs. Pirates game on WORTV when Ed Ott slid into second base hard and took out Felix. He got mad and punched Ed Ott then Ed a former college football player scooped up Felix like a WWE wrestler and body slammed him onto second base. Felix was carted off the field. Never played another MLB game.

There was a similar play in early Met history to the Millan-Ott scrap. It involved WIllie Mays & Elio Chacon. Mays slid hard into second base and Chacon got mad and hit him with the ball. Mays picked up Chacon but, being a nicer guy than Ed Ott, didn't slam him into the ground, at least from the press reports. I'm not so old I actually saw it, but there is a newspaper picture. I've seen stories that Chacon was blackballed from baseball because no one grabbed him the next spring when the Mets waived him to send him to the minors. In those days, you didn't punch Willie Mays. I don't know how true all that is.
