this arc was so heartbreaking omg... i still remember smiling with puffy, red eyes at every little interactions of the boys. then proceeding to cry every time I got reminded of ace’s death. I found myself torn between giggling at their cuteness and sobbing like a little baby. (probably looked like a maniac.) oda was smart to show Luffy/Ace ’s backstory after Ace’s death. it had more impact and was definitely more emotional in my opinion. especially knowing that Ace had indeed died and that there’s no way to bring him back.

The fact that ASL began when Luffy was seven (he’s 3 years younger than both) makes this song hit harder Ace may have died, but he lives in the will of Sabo and Luffy, and his flame lives

Spoiler: Its ironic how Sabo looked like he died and Ace was still alive when they were young. And it turns out Sabo was actually alive but then Ace died.

I love how the song says that at 20 his story had been told because that shows ace so perfectly. At around 20 he was a freat and pwerful who had completed his dream and knew he was loved. He died the way everyone wishes they could. On his feet fighting for what he loved and cared for

Spoiler for summit wars~♡ Imagine how garp feels? When ace is on the execution stand he had prepared himself. This kid he raised, that kid was going to die. Then, he sees luffy running to the stand. Garps heart smiles, maybe they won't die. Maybe his grandchildren /won't die/. Hes happy, yet he still has to attack luffy. Its his job. Garp falls, yet luffy rescues ace. "Thank God. Theyll be okay" then... ace dies. That little glimmer of hope disappears as aces still warm body falls into luffy's hands. Luffys frozen now. Luffys going to die too. Just Imagining how garp felt, hurt. He wasn't the best grandfather, but, he still couldn't help them.

This means so much more when you’re all caught up, seeing how strong luffy and sabo have become and how many friends they’ve made along the way, it’s so sad to see ace not be there.
