The human brain is perfectly capable of watching and reading at the same time. The brain has the cognitive flexibility to get accustomed to it. Not saying you have to watch SUB but he should make that decision himself. I found it annoying at first but you get used to it.

@@pvtread5207 Again, it is your preference. If you have something like dyslexia or ADHD then that's fair. Just pointing out that it is not as difficult as some people think and they should give it a chance before deciding. For some anime English dub is perfectly fine but some it won't do it justice like for example Gintama. The only drawback of English dub is they sometimes mistranslate things or don't get the Japanese nuances right. But if you don't care about that then that's fine.

@@captainkatsura26 just a bunch of excuses. I have ASD and ADHD. It's very hard for me to focus to read a book in general. But I've been watching subbed anime with english subs since forever and english isn't even my first language. Now that i also speak Japanese I watch it raw or with JP subs too. Some people just give up right away when facing a slightest challenge making excuses using their disabilities or something. You have to immerse and train yourself to improve. Or give up without trying the moment there's a tiny obstacle, like the guy above..
