Power level is very important when it comes to who punches harder of course but some devil fruits that can overcome the need for first fights like enel, apoo, magelan, foxy, ceazar, hancks, logias in general before haki became a thing etc make you insanely hard to deal with... So in that sense devil fruit matchup can be more important than who's stronger Not to mention fruits that make you an absolute monster regardless of how strong you are like the paw paw fruit are absolutely busted...

Like I dont think someone like Mr.3 would be stopping any attacks from Magellan otherwise but here we are right? IIRC. I don't see why he gets kudos because theoretically he'd have done damage.

As demonstrated in Stampede, when he blitzed Bullet while from behind then while jumping backwards. Saying "dah" twice and beating his chest immediately following by explosions! I realize this film isn't cannon but it's clear Oda will write Apoo as being able to perform certain instruments with barely any time or start up! ie cymbal and drum attacks! Instruments he can play freely with his hand while his mouth is unoccupied to shout!

Also, sound is waaaaaayyy more powerful the closer you get to the source! I would argue it's the other way around and long range out of range is his Achilles heel!

Didn't he mention that Luffy and Zoro were "still in range" at some point? Apparently, if his target is far enough away then he is at a disadvantage. So any opponent who can hit him from a very long distance away would be ideal in fighting him. That's my theory at least.

Those two have always been taking damage throughout the story before a final fight of a particular arc. In a larger context, they weren't even phased by the attack. An internal based attack, which is a weakness of Luffy, just shocked him for a few seconds. It's not like he got his ass kicked.

I think your on to something there. His eyes in the panel did change a bit to, as though using haki. He definitely was looking for a way to dodge it. I don't think he wanted to take the attack, but, he is definitely thinking of a counter move for apoo.

I think him saying he knows and looking intensely as the attack happened was him intensely focusing on what was happening and figured it out but then he never got a chance to explain it because he was knocked out for all of five seconds and immediately bit someone as he woke up so he couldn't speak about what he saw one way or the other, and then kid punches apoo and he never gets a chance but I feel like they're going to flash back to that when Luffy fights him after kid that gets defeated or distracted, seems like the kind of s*** they would do.

Exactly. They take the wrong angle every time. It's not that Luffy and Zoro are weak, it's just that Apoo is very strong. I don't know how or why some people decided he was a "scrub" and one of the "weakest of the Supernova" - probably all the over-analysing micro details in power scaling videos. You can still catch strong people off-guard with mysterious abilities.

Lord Bimble y’all are going the exact opposite way about this too. It’s not that Luffy/Zoro are weak, and it’s not that apoo is all that insane either (or at least not on the level of first commander level like these two are) it’s just that in the world of one piece, hax based abilities are extremely effective and powerful when you don’t know how they work. If someone didn’t know that Sugar’s devil fruit can instantly turn you into a toy: she could potentially beat everyone in the verse. Same with ceased and his gas, same with Foxxy and his slow slow beam. As we find out more about the fruit and it’s weaknesses he’ll become much less of a threat and easier to deal with. And if you don’t believe me: look at this chapters final panel. Kid literally hit him with a giant mechanical punch and from the looks of it apoo seems to have taken some hefty damage. Does this mean kid> Zoro and luffy? Of course not, but context is important here. He caught him off guard and overwhelmed him, proving the importance of the context.

We should just assume that all the supernovas should be feared. Remember that it was Urouge that beat Snack so hard he lost the sweet commander position and he had one of the lowest bounties. Law, Hawkins, Bege, Drake, Kidd, and Bonny all have crazy good devil fruits with tons of potential. Each of them could be/probably are at the low commander level.

Kizaru didn't see that coming and i don't think observation haki can't detect sound waves (we talking about Kizaru is the fastest living alive and he can't dodge sounds twice). It's just the people's head-cannon and there's no evidence of it that they can dodge soundwaves by observation haki. ....I mean sounds is everywhere unless they need to plug their ears.

I don't think Apoo is switching sides. He might escape the fall out of Kaido being defeated and the beast pirates collapsing, but I don't think he was with Kaido in hopes of double crossing him eventually. I can see Hawkins joining the alliance if he reads they have a shot at defeating Kaido with his cards, but at best Apoo would offer to help to save himself. Maybe give them some inside info on the beast pirates then escape before the final battle.
