It would be more mischaracterization if Luffy took the only food they got. I think. In Wano, Luffy regretted it so much when he ate all the rice that Otama had. If he knew that was the case, im sure he'll rather starve than take from Otama

i think the ppl of orange town waving goodbye to the SH is a nod to the ppl of shells town in the manga when luffy saved them from morgan

I understand why they didn't keep the manga and anime's tendency to change Luffy's pupils when he's angry. If they did that, people will begin to suspect Luffy has the same powers as Shanks.

Yo dude, thank you so much for these. I'm a pretty big One Piece fan, but I don't even catch half of the references in each episode so it makes it even cooler knowing how much love and care was put into the live action. Also, you are a good narrator! Keep it up! :)

Also, this is more for episode five but when Zoro gets cut down by mihawk you see Luffy having a panic attack and when you think about it is because of what happened with Sabo when they were younger

I consider myself very knowledgeable when it comes to One Piece having it rewatched and reread more times than I can count, but you are on another level. Not only did I completely missed drawings of Buggy's crew on the wall, even when I look at it, I still have trouble even notice anything familiar, while you can directly pinpoint which character it is. My (straw)hat off to you! Looking forward to your next breakdowns.

Love to see more fun hidden easter eggs, but here are a few more - When Luffy says Buggy’s name is “Boogie” this is a reference to what going to be his original name but changed it due the antagonist in The Nightmare Before Christmas - Speaking of the Lord of the Coast sounds like the T-Rex from Jurassic Park

5:40 If I remember correctly, Oda originally planned on naming Buggy "Boogie" 16:45 Also, I didn't like to see that Buggy's hat seems to have blue hair coming out of it. At least in the manga, it was revealed in an SBS that it was his actual hair and not a part of the hat. Edit: I forgot to mention... great video by the way! I just finished the second episode yesterday (I am not a binge watcher), so the timing was perfect, and I plan on maybe watching episode 3 this weekend. I'll look forward to your video on that as well.

we also see Buggy's long blue hair in Impel Down because he doesnt have his hat. theres still a chance maybe he just had it all tied up in the live action because i remeber we see his had on the floor at one point and it doesnt have blue hair on it. so who knows. edit: damn i hadnt noticed that the hat does have the hair in the credits. oh well

Luffy was seen as hero since the whole town sees that Luffy actually save the village. That basically changes the dynamic of how his departure would go down. Loke Alabasta would have ended up in the same was loke this episode if there aren't Marines that quickly are arriving there so there is a "reason" Luffy would play the "villain" role so the whole country would not be put under the suspicion of "housing pirates". Like the live action take on how Luffy reacts to people who are grateful that they got save by him is still pretty accurate to how manga/anime Luffy would.

Just want to point out, that the "flying Boot" Zorro is blocking, could be just a high Kick from Buggy? So at least obe feed stood on the ground? Oder never said both Feed had to stand on the ground, or else Buggy wouldn't be able to walk in this state ^^ Also I just can't give out enough love for Buggy at this point! I don't know how it is in English but in german it is the same voice actor as in the anime and he makes such a good job!

12:20 "His feet stay on the ground" He can move his feet around while he split into pieces, which is something he obviously does while running around in Impel Down, but I don't know about him kicking, but hey, you might just be correct

The sword Shanks carries in Episode 1is modeled after his unnamed saber, not Griffon as you can see the very unique hilt design on Gryphon where the guard rejoins with the handle

Ah, I can see your point about the part where the guard rejoins with the handle in Episode 1, however its color scheme and handle design aligns a bit more with Griffon than it does with Shanks' original sword in Chapter 1. Perhaps the design used in the Live Action is a combination of the two?

@@onepieceexplained A sheath can be replaced, and a handle can be rewrapped, but all the unchanged features resemble his og saber way too much for me to think it could be anything else. The Metalwork on Gryphon is just too unique for us to assume the prop was modeled after it. THAT SAID, I absolutely would not have a hard time believing that Oda simply retconned the design of Gryphon, and allowed the live action team to stick with the OG design so it wouldn't stand out as much the busy design of Gryphon might

I’m enjoying your videos so much and I adore OP. When you get to episode 8 PLEASE mention the Dragon cameo early in the runtime and how it makes sense that he is where he is cus…you know…he’s doing Dragon things as dragon does…. I haven’t seen anyone talking about it!?! His face tattoo isn’t visible but those that know the casting should easily recognize him, especially with it being a random cut to a background “extra” in the scene. On first viewing I was so sad we didn’t get any dragon shots of his face and on second viewing I caught that. Got me hyped.

Regarding how Shanks was able to get to Luffy without swimming, I wouldn't be surprised if we learn in the future that he has mastered the six powers.

Special note: While Buggy's hat has tassels in the End Credits, it's revealed that those are actually his hair.

Great video! Congrats! I would only add one thing: I might be wrong, but I think calling Buggy "Binky" is a nod to Garfield, because in the Garfield comics and the Garfield and Friends tv show there was a recurring character called Binky the Clown

No problem. Unfortunately, this may be a visual settings issue on your end. I've been able to get a few people to see the image in that screen without issue. It is a very dark imagine to begin with however, so the screen you're using may be preventing you from making out the image.

Pretty sure the music playing while Shanks passes his hat is "Memories", the first ending song of the anime. We'll hear more music like that later.

Shanks was a in a different boat, the other boat got destroyed. Shank's boat has light-colored trim/gunwales while the mountain bandit's is dark.
