Kinda afraid about that because it looks like they changed the scene and it's just Zoro talking to Luffy directly but I hope I'm wrong. I want Zoro to shout "Got a problem with that? Pirate King?" while crying from the frustration of realizing he is nowhere near Mihawk in strength.

It's a live-action adaptation. The over-dramatic character traits aren't something that will translate well into live action. Like Zoro getting lost, Luffy being dumb, and Sanji craving love. Those are examples of things that are dramatically increased in anime--to make it funny--that would just look super goofy for a real person to do. They definitely need to tone it down a bit, so I personally think it was a good choice.

I've read a lot if manga, watched a lot of anime but for some reason I haven't given One Piece a shot. I think it just seems daunting to get started on that series. But had no or low expectations going into this show, and it blew my mind. I absolutely love this show, now myself, my wife, and my 9 year old are watching it together. The cast is excellent, the action is great, love the story too. Also the music in this is 🔥!

Just a bunch of pirates searching for a treasure... post timeskip has been fun but... there's something to these earlier stories that are just kind of magical

I wish Disney would produce One Piece Live Action because then we would have an Afro American Luffy, Zoro, Nami and Sanji. We have to move with the times. Arielle, Snow White, Rings of Power, Black Elves, Female Black Dwarves without a Beard, was also rewritten and performed by African Americans. this is called story telling. It draws you in with the right hooks, it gets you invested. It doesn't expect the viewer to know anything about the original source material. Dave, you may want to sit down and take some notes.

Seriously, that's all they need to hit. Zoro's declaration after he loses to Mihawk, Nami's betrayal and Help me, Shanks handing his strawhat to Luffy, Vivi's goodbye, The Merry scenes, Robin's I want to Live, Sanji and Usopp's spat with the crew, etc. These scenes are the heart and soul of One Piece. If they can nail those, that's all that I really need.

Netflix really brought one piece to life, the casting, atmosphere... even hand made outfits! This will be the best live action anime. Even Oda supervised it! Also Sanji's actor learned some martial arts and took cooking lessons. This shows you how much the actors/actresses and LA team are willing to do to make it a perfect live action

They are very good! Luffy, Nami, Zoro, Ussop, Sanji, etc. even the villains! Every scene is so impressive especially the fight scenes! The back stories of the five stars were also tearful, I cried the most about Sanji's story and when he said thank you to Zeff. Hopefully with Season 2, they can go to the Grandline and find the One Piece. I haven't watched its anime so I'm excited about what will happen in live action!

The main thing i loved about Luffy is how strongly he believes in himself because he is always so confident in himself and his goals whereas i dont believe in myself so the Zoro quote in this trailer exactly embodied how i saw Luffy

Yeah I also think it's so cool! It makes sense for the live action to put it that way, I believe in an SBS someone asks why is luffy so brave and never doubts he;ll beat those who are regarded as stronger, and Oda said it's because Luffy is an idiot, he doesn't read the news or anything so he has no idea. Not entirely the same but that answer makes sense for the manga version, it's a cool translate I would say

I'm honestly feeling incredibly grateful right now that this is actually happening. The fact that they've assembled such a fitting cast, that Oda was heavily involved, that they built the entire sets from scratch, and that the team is driven by such a deep love for One Piece... I mean, it's just amazing! No other adaptation up to this point has shown the same level of love and respect for the original work, and I'm just so thankful to be able to witness it. Even if you don't like it in the end, I'd still hope you would support it because of the tremendous effort that went into creating it, and it really shines through. I'm confident I'll enjoy it because One Piece was a huge part of my childhood, and it brings me so much joy to see it gaining even more recognition and reaching people who aren't fans of anime or manga. I'm just overflowing with happiness! Many thanks to Netflix, the actors, and the entire crew who contributed to this. You've truly done an outstanding job!

It's like art - everyone has their own style, and some might lean towards one style over another, and that's completely okay. What I'm trying to convey is that the series is likely to gain even more popularity, attracting individuals who don't typically watch anime. This might inspire them to start watching the anime and reading the manga, all because they're curious if the Mugiwara crew ultimately discovers the One Piece in the end! 😄

@ngpainter live action adaptations are always cash grabs, at least in the eyes of the companies who make them. But that doesn't mean that the team behind the adaptation itself is soulless. This show is very clearly a passion project for many of the cast and crew. So while I agree not every anime needs a live action adaptation, it's not fair to act like there isn't at the very least, a lot of love put into this.

I wonder how many seasons can it go on. Not only the high cost and long duration of the production, the actors and actresses do age. Inyaki is the only one below 20. If there is to be later seasons (more than 3) I think there must be change of actors/ actresses except Inyaki.

I dont know why, but i feel the same feeling i had following harry potter series. That sense of belonging with the characters. And i never watch the anime version of this series. If netflix do this right, would love to see a one piece theme park..
