For a little context, The series starts out in the East Blue, which is a relatively normal area, with really the only weird environmental stuff is one minor sea monster, and a huge bird. But when you get into the Grand Line, things get crazy. Yes, some of these images are the same place from different angles, but it's still a vast world, it has been calculated to be 2.7 times bigger than our Earth. Some of the stuff in here are from non-canon movies. They omitted Tottland, which is basically Disneyland mixed with Candyland where everything is either sentient or made of food or both, and has the most variety in terms of people, and I don't just mean skin color.

Some of the places shown in this video aren't from the original source, but even the movies produced have to be approved by Oda sensei and he usually sprinkles in world building concepts (such as the name of the final island and untold relationships of some main carachters). This man have been working non stop for over 26 years now on this, it is his magnum opus, and One Piece is the modern Odyssey, no doubt.

It’s easy to keep track of the characters and islands because he takes the necessary time to flush out the characters, islands and the cultures of each place. When you first start watching the anime it seems kind of long but after a while you get used to it and appreciate it

One of the beautiful parts of Oda's worldbuilding aspect is that each island is very unique and anything that happens in that world feels alive and breathing. Oda does a wonderful job of filling in his manga cover art in every few chapters by providing insight on what happen in other parts of the world, which will eventually coincide with current events. Oda is a god when it comes to storytelling and foreshadowing

There's a reason why the community calls Eiichiro Oda 'GODA' : he manages to take even the most outlandish elements and seamlessly weave them into the overarching narrative, all within a weekly time crunch, often surviving on only about 4 hours of sleep for 26 years. Gold Roger's achievement wasn't visiting *all* islands. It was to travel around the world. It's not that just travelling is anything remarkable but the Grand Line is... Unsailable, essentially. The magnitude of what they did can't quite be explained so simply. Let's just say that, once they completed their voyage, Roger's crew discovered something huge.

First off love the reactions guys, i have liked seeing your guys views from when gear 5 dropped and I can’t wait to see you start the journey from the begging! As Far as the One piece itself Oda has stated it IS an actual thing and yes he knew from the moment he started the story. But the main purpose the of the story itself was based on the fantasy that Oda had where he wanted to make an extremely epic fight of Titanic proportions, and the series even up to where we are right now is only the prologue to those events. This is what is referenced at the end of the trailer. And even where we are in the manga the story just keeps getting more and more insane where pirates form factions and we are starting to see the shape of this take place and i can say confidently it will be on a scale never before seen in anime on par with the end of lord of the rings in comparison but on another level. When you start out i just advise to take your time, while current episodes are peak, the story is what sustains the series and don’t rush to catch up, the one piece treasure may not be “just the journey” but your enjoyment will be so just strap in and bring along your hopes and dreams and we will find what we are looking for, THE ONE PIECE! You guys would definitely like the live action it's amazing. The author Oda approved of it and he hand picked the cast himself. Theres a bit of a spoiler for the 300s in episode 4 and on (cuz they rearranged the story a bit compared to the manga) but you guys already know some spoilers so I dont think its that big a deal especially if you are going into it mostly blind. Up to you guys how much you wanna avoid spoilers before watching. They set up the live action so that even ppl who have never seen One Piece can follow whats going on. It's a pretty good way to get into the series imo. It's only 8 episodes but it covers up to the first 40 chapters or so (like first 45 episodes of the anime). One Piece is my fave series so if you guys are gonna start getting deeper into it I'm all for it!!! Whether you choose to start with the anime or the live action I'm all for it.

I love all those questions you guys are asking and I love knowing that there are answers to all of them. As a 22-year veteran of One Piece anime and manga I know most of those answers but there are so many others that none of us know the answer to except for Oda-san. 😍 It's been said by in World characters that there are millions of islands on the One Piece planet. There are also dozens of different races that we know of so far... I don't mean just different types of humanity, I'm talking about totally different sentient species as well. Also, those thousand episode go by in a flash once you get started. One Piece is like crack: one hit will have you hooked!

100% agree. After knowing the manga, I did expect the fight to end on the latest episode, but part of my mind was like, they might stretch it out. Bummed it didn't end, but such is the life of a OP fan. Super excited for this vid. Yall are goats and huge fans of all things anime. Keep in mind that this story first started being published in 1997. Its author was only 22. It's still being written. He's now 49. The scope of what he created is a whole entire dedication to a single project which has been his life's work, and that's the life's work of a genius. Realizing that starts to get your head around just how good One Piece is. It's a masterpiece. I love classic literature. I read Tolstoy, the Bronte sisters, Zora Neale Hurston and Hermann Hesse and I truly see this as on par with what they did.

From what I remember, Oda has been dreaming up the world of One Piece ever since he was really young. He officially started releasing One Piece in his 20s. What I'm amazed by is the depth and relevancy of the themes and conflicts he consistently is working into his story. Man is really a man of culture lol

Each island small or as big as some actual countries have their own culture, different political and ideological views and sometimes different dialects. It’s really fascinating reading/ watching it and I always find myself saying “this mf Oda is insane” the way he creates lol but all or most of your questions will be answered when you start.

to answer your question, yes any caught up one piece fan would be able to name all the locations you saw in the video. You would be shocked at yourself too when you watch the anime on how many of the 1000+ characters, locations and plots you will end up remembering off the top of your head. Also, luffy doesn't go to all these locations. Don't be surprised if you see entire episodes/arcs that dont involve the main characters at all.

They have been to a lot of these places. Some are repeated only to show how much other stuff is on those islands. They haven't been to all of them, but several get shown to show other important characters and what's going on there. The world is HUGE. Y'all gonna be so happy when you guys start watching, I'm not even joking. Just get a filler list page up and skip the fillers (I hear some are good tho lol). (there's a couple that are from the movies and not canon, but those movies slap!)

Not every island luffy has visited, despite how long the series is, luffy didn’t visit that much but the world of one piece is HUGE and it’s always moving so we see other characters once in a while after every arc and we see other islands Luffy did not visit. I think that’s why the world of one piece feels so real and engaging compared to other stories where the story is only moving with the main character. You will be surprised how little luffy has discovered and how small he is compared to the world and other characters, yes now he has grown and his name is more recognizable but before Wano's arc, he wasn’t that big and he and his crew haven’t visited every island. With a world like one piece, i want a big open world game like “The Witcher 3” 😂 like this world of one piece is so well crafted and detailed and it would make a great game, I don’t want luffy as the main character, i just need to play in the world... this is my dream game!

But the lowest calculations put the planet at 84% THE SIZE OF THE SUN and the crazier numbers put it at LARGER THAN A SOLAR SYSTEM. Regardless the Planet is super massive having 7 moons, 1 of which is so large it is shown to have it's own sub moon orbiting it. Most realistic people conservatively consider the planet to actually be Dwarf Star in size given that is what the lowest scaling calculations have shown the planet to be.

You don't need to go to all the islands to be the king of the pirates. You have to go to Raftel/Laugh Tale to be king of the pirates.

Oda has said the One Piece treasure will be a tangible thing... but really, the One Piece IS the adventure. Been reading One Piece for nearly 20 years, which is why even at the time when Naruto was still coming out. I couldn't understand the comparison... Kishimoto introduced a ninja world that you only saw the tiniest fraction of. And at the same time Oda was giving us whole new worlds with every island!

you guys are starting to see just how intense one piece really is, when you start it seems like a silly pirate anime, and right now the animation and the fights are going crazy, but a huge part of one piece is the story, worldbuilding, and mysteries that have yet to be solved. you guys dont even know about the major powers of the one piece world. This might be controversial, but i think you should see the live action before jumping into the anime. Just b/c while I think most fans are pleased with the live action, it feels like the non one piece fans liked it even more. Plus, it'll take a while to watch all the episodes in the anime that are covered in the live action. Basically, overall the anime/manga is better than the live action so for the sake enjoying the live action to the fullest you should watch it first. Btw I'm a long time one piece fan and loved the live action but even I couldn't help comparing some of my favorite moments from the anime and feeling a little disappointed about the differences. Edit: one more thing I want to mention. There are some things in the live action that spoil relationships/reveals from way later in the series. But personally I don't think these spoilers hurt enjoyment apart from a single episode 300+ episodes into the series. To me this is absolutely worth getting spoiled on in exchange for enjoying the live actiom

most of the islands start from the same thing: oda sits down, goes "wouldn't it be cool if _____", and then draws a doodle of an island that looks like that or is centered on that concept. for example, water 7 is "wouldn't it be cool if venice was in one piece?", and then oda did that, made an entire arc centered on it and had to develop the island enough to make it fit within the world. things are wacky here, so instead of boats, the people of water 7 ride carriages on giant seahorses. why? because oda wanted to draw it. areas that only get spotty mentions, like sparrow island, aren't as well fleshed out as the places luffy personally visits, but they're still anchored in the story with connecting threads. EDIT: luffy has NOT visited every island here. but a major character has, and we saw them do it.
