Also, it seems like they are building Arlong up over more episodes/"arcs" to give him the vibe of the big villain of the first season, something that's closer to western audiences.

You can't complaim about Shanks because he's really not that intimidating in Romance Dawn. That's why those mountain bandits didn't take him seriously lol. He'll have his glow up later on in the series.

I think Garps chain is because in the anime/manga, they use jackets as capes, and its very goofy but it works, but for adapting that, they put the chain so the jacked does not fell off when hes doing shit, very smart if you ask me, and we can see the jacket capes on the live action as well.

I think we should more focus on the realistic side because it is happening in real life and i am glad they are not making characters look like FORCED accurate to the original source. I feel like if they merging the arcs, then it's pretty cool because we might not get bored from unnecessary stuff and also continuous action. Correct me if I am wrong but the season 1 will have around 10 episodes as they have fill up 5 backstories plus the amounts of fights and details..boy it's gonna be super fast and I am fine with it. The only thing I am concerned about the amount of comedy because that's the best thing in this series. I don't care if they have small funny moments but I want them to go all out with nonsensical jokes as much as possible. Other than the cast is very nice. Overall, the official trailer was WAY better than the teaser and it kinda uplifted my hopes for the faithful adaptation..

Garp being at Roger's execution is more of a correcting retcon I think, because once you think about it, Roger being executed without any figure of governmental importance seems kinda strange. Also, with the way things are set up with fishmen at Baratie, and a shot of Arlong in Buggy's tent, Nami is probably being pursued by Arlong, perhaps this means a more active resistance from Nami towards him, and will betray the crew at the restaurant (the "You'll have to excuse them, they're idiots" might be a scene from that moment)

Hope this Live Action will continue and gonfor Season 2 and so on... I really want to see Alabasta Arc

Peter Gadiot, the guy who plays Shanks, actually looks SO GOOD out of costume AND in the behind the scenes pics so idk why he looks like that in the trailer 😭 they should’ve gotten a bigger hat for when he wears it and a smaller for Iñaki but I guess having different size hats for a character that we see for half a frame is not worth it 😂

Seeing the production quality boost absolutely skyrocket from the first teaser gives me so much hope for this series as a live action. I hope its great. 👍

Buggy looks the greatest imo and his scdne in this trailer is the best

I watched this a lot & loved it with the actors who just feel like the characters, the attention to details (like Roger’s roger on his coat, Arlong having an actual sawshark nose, & Alvida’s cannon balls explode with heart shaped confetti), & all of the references that I can spot (like the Straw Hat outfits are from the color spreads & Cavendish wanted poster)

Having Arlong and a couple of the other fishmen appearing at Baratie allows streamline the reasoning for Nami to return to Arlong Park and Luffy n Crew to go after her. I do hope we still have our Bounty Hunting duo of Johnny and Yosaku though. I am also hoping we still get to see at least a hint of Gaimon

For characters to be more accurate they would need like 30 7 feet tall body builders. :D Also there will be changes in story. It looks like Don Crieg was cut out and fishman + Hawkeye will be introduced differently. And they did good job making more CG heavy fight scenes taking place in dark spaces. It blands better.

Well it does make sense that Garp is present...Remember Roger voluntarily surrender to Garp bec when he was imprisoned...Roger asked Garp to take care of his son(eventually he also called his Grandson named Ace)

Great choice to make the first season to end at Arlong Park.

So many had issues with how Shanks looks in that one scene but almost all of them disregard the scene where he puts the hat on young Luffy where he does look very good. In behind the scenes photos of the actor playing Shanks he looks good as well. It's just the framing of the shot that makes it look odd but i think it'll be fine in full context.

i think Arlong at Baratie is going to be something like "Arlong shows up to get Nami and bring her back for some reason. He kicks Luffy's butt because Luffy is hurt and exhausted from just beating Don Krieg, and then they chase after Arlong back to Arlong Park" but who knows for sure. what i do know is Oda gave his thumbs up, and thats enough for me

I overall love it. Arlong is a bit meh, but I dont think they could have done any better, considering its a live action which makes it very hard to pull off and more importantly considering its One Piece and its goofy character design. In a perfect world I would have really liked to see Arnold as Garp. If someone could pull off the buff badass grandma, Arnold would have been perfect. I mean he kinda looks like Garp without even trying

Apparently Don Krieg will not be present in the LA so they used Arlong as the villain for the Baratie Arc.

I respect what Oda's decision will be...so everyone who doubts it, is doubting Oda...he supervised the show, he is an executive producer, he ok'd the castings, so yeah like Oda said, if everyone got complaints come to me! 😂😂

Considering how freaking long One Piece is, they have to either cut arcs or combine them. I have no issues with that to be honest, as long as they just keep the most important parts. And to be honest, this looks way more faithful to the source material than I would ever even imagine coming out of Netflix of all places, they are not exactly known for their faithful adaptions.

My guess is that instead of the krieg Pirates at Baratie, they will fight (and lose) against the fishman pirates. Thus saving time with introductions and creating greater rivalry between the two crews. Nami will probably betray the starwhats there and steal their ship to give to Arlong. And then they will go to Arlong park for round 2. Just guessing from the trailer. But the time constraints will have to be dealt in such ways I feel...

Surprisingly doesn't look terrible. I guess since there are only 8 episodes to fit all of the East Blue stuff in and Arlong probably being the main villain arc they'll introduce him earlier to build him and Nami's story up since it's probably going to be the big season payoff. Interested how they adapt the scene with Nami as it was one of the first real stand out moments that sold One Piece as an anime, it's quite a violent scene originally so I'm wondering if they tone it down how they'll get across Nami's frustration at being fooled by Arlong and not being able to free herself and her loved ones from the situation they are in. It's a very important scene for Nami's character and Luffy's as this establishes how he values his nakama over everything else in the world when he places the straw hat on Nami's head that he earlier called "his treasure" telling Nami without words that she and the crew are his treasure. I guess I'll wait on Shanks before judging on one scene but it's kinda hard to do this show live action without it looking like cosplay., Maybe the fact they went all in on his appearance being exactly like the anime isn't helping matters. I quite like Nami's sass being on point and Luffy's happy go lucky attitude. Looks like we'll get the Sanji and Zoro rivalry too lol.

They have to crunch the arcs in some way. There's no way they can fit the East Blue arcs in a single season without doing it.

Netflix allowed them 8 episodes. So the whole East Blue Saga had be re-written to change story beats. It's the same story but told differently. Locations of people have been switched/added to help tell the East Blue story arc.

Some people say "Don Creek was casted, Arlong is properbly just visting the Bararie, but the fight is against Don Creek".... some people say "They skipped Don Creek because he is not such a big dude and so save time, they combined the Baratie Arc with the Arlong Arc"..... I'm fine with both. I never liked the Don Creek Part. They also included some more lore related things that wasn't in the manga/anime... for example Garp, with Gol D Roger... Because it just make sense..... and they also included Dragon there, .... just make sense.... and this "man in black"... I think he is from the Newspaper... the one who make the photos for every "Wanted" poster (forgot his name) What I also like is namis different outfits... the outfits she is wearing also exists in the manga and artbooks. Same goes to the outfits from all the other actors, but nami is changing here outfits many times

Save this comment about the reason the Gyojin dude is in the Baratie: They already confirm that some things in the story will be adjusted or changed basically, they confirmed that Zoro and Nami joins Luffy at the same time, I think that when they defeat Don Krieg, another thing they will change about this is Nami betraying them, instead of doing so she will be attached to the crew already at this point, and just about they will be leaving the Baratie that Gyojin that Bodied Sanji will arrive to get Nami back to his Island because in this serie Nami escaped her home town to get away from Arlong to get help or just to escape from him, and the this Gyojin has been looking for her following her trail, since Zoro, Luffy and Sanji are tired from their fight against Don Krieg this Gyojin will threat Nami to kill them and everyone else if she doesn’t come back and work for Arlong as she is supposed to, and because of this she will tell the Gyojin that she will come back and work with them without resisting if they leave everyone alone and doesn’t kill anyone. Of course after that Luffy and the rest will follow Nami and the Gyojin to their Island and Nami taking the Merry like in the manga and by the time Luffy arrives to her Island instead of resisting Luffys help she will ask for it because by the time they arrive Arlong had already kill people of their Island o treat someone she loves, or probably Arlong has her sister or someone else as a prisoner in Arlong Park and thats why in the Trailer we see that Nami joins the fight against the Gyojins in Arlong Park.

The green dude is definitely Dragon but the suit and hat guy could be Garp's lieutenant since Garp also seems to be present. As for the CGI, Buggy is in the dark which helps the CGI, it's gonna be harder to do in the light of day, but I'm not overly concerned about that personally.

Nami leaves the crew from the restaurant so maybe she leaves with Arlong? Otherwise she would leave with Going Merry and both Zoro and Usopp would trail in a smaller boat followed by Luffy and Sanji. They might not do the Krieg fight at all and just use Arlong instead. We might lose Gin from this change who's a really great early character.

They seem to have cut Johnny and Yosaku, so Arlong showing up at Baratie means that's how Nami leaves, and they don't catch up because of Mihawk and Krieg...

I have an idea, What if the luffy from the live action meets lufy from anime on laugh tale island?

A lot of people mention that they think that Roger or Garp or Arlong will look bigger or more buff, and i get the idea. But this is a live adaptation and you need to stay realistic, if you have up to 300 super buff character and 2/3 of them are +2 or +3 meters tall... then the amount of visual effects skyrocket and the pool of actors suited for each role is heavily reduced. Garp is a good example, you need a middle aged men super buff, with the right overall look and character, with good acting skills and on top of that make him even bigger with visual effect and make every interaction with the sets and other characters looks natural... no way... no when more that half of the OP characters follow that trend. And also it with made the overall look of the series really weird looking,

I think whats gonna happen is that they're gonna skip the don kreige stuff and just go straight to Mihawk and instead have arlong and that other fisherman come to bartie to come get Nami or just have her run back to her island when she see's him to speed things along

In drawing or anime, whether you draw a character 4 meters high or another with human measurements, it's the same in terms of technique and cost. But, it’s not the same for a live action anymore. Automatically showing a 4 meter character on the screen implies special effects and therefore higher costs than for the character of one meter seventy. Money does not grow on trees, production must make a choice. It is therefore normal not to keep the measurements of the original work when these are not essential to the character (unlike the powers of the devil fruits). A more normal Garp is money saved for other more much-needed special effects.

Its like Arlong gets word from his Marine informants about Nami and he goes to collect her from the Baratie. This makes more sense since he obsessively valued her chartography skills and wouldn't want her straying too far from their deal.

I think they have to cut some chapters off and make some changes unless we expect them to fill in 1000 episodes in the live action show, so I am fine with not seeing Don Krieg. Also the Manga and anime weren't perfect copy of one another. Alvida for example, we met her on her ship in the anime vs a forest or her headquarter in the Manga.

Can one really be optimistic or pessimistic about this? If it's good then great. If it's not then no big deal, we still have the anime and the manga. They can't ruin that. I intend to watch it just to see what they do with it. It will be an interesting experience either way.

I think they are merging baratie an arlong park together a little bit so the story progresses smoother for live action. Could mean no live action Don Kreig. I'm not that mad if it turns out to be true, I just need that scene with Mihawk.

If live action One Piece and Last Airbender does really well, then Netflix can do the impossible and actually make a GOOD live action Dragon Ball series. NOT Z, SUPER or GT. Just CLASSIC Dragon Ball.

What’s amazing and interesting about this trailer Is that I don’t think fans realize, but LETS take a moment and forget about the anime for a second, let’s just overall look at the characters, quality and CGI, a regular outsider wouldn’t even think this was a anime, that’s how good this live action actually looks, that itself has already spiked my hopes into believing this OP live action will truly be successful when it’s all set and done, and I’ll be cheering and supporting like from the beginning, can’t wait.
