Just one of many reason why it just makes more sense for the cattle to stay up by the house for winter. Follow me: / dexter.ranch / dexterranch / dexterranch Email me: dexterranch@yahoo.com

Hi Alton. Not much has happened. Probably be pretty slow going until it starts warming up out. Hope all is well.

I personally like horned cattle. Gives you a place to wrangle them. It's also good for their self defense if a coyote or something comes around.

I horned cows have a very nice look, but they are not a big seller.

Congratulations 👏🎉🎉! Are you keeping her or will she be up for sale?

Thank you! This one will most likely be staying with the herd. I will explain more in a video, but there is a reason why the red and the black cows are here. They all have a little of what I want. She will most likely be kicking her mom and grandma out though.

Are you going to dehorn the calf?
@dexterranch2 жыл бұрын
This calf will not have horns. Although her mom does, her dad is homozygous polled therefore none of his calves are able to have horns.

@@dexterranch Way to be, I get into arguements here locally about polled Dexters are not pure as originally the breed had horns.................Whether that is true or not I do not care, because I do not miss horns or the dirty job of taking them off at all. Cattle can be dangerous enough by themselves without arming them with two speers on their head!

@@tpfromcentralpa1692 agree we dehorn all of our calves. We are picking up a homozygous polled Bull at the end of February. Our horned Red Bull is going in the freezer as we haven’t been able to find a buyer. Polled seems more popular and easier to find new homes.
