You might want to be abit careful saying that though, especially around or to black african/american people. As it's considered quite a racist term by some. I think something to do with back in the day the plantation owners would call their slaves boy or something like that. You might get cancelled on top if everything else. 😏

Jeff, My Uncle mined London Mine in Fairplay, Colorado in the late 60s-70s. He also mined the area where Alfred Packer had his cold winter picnic of miners. I remember camping as a kid by London mine. I have old slides of the trip. It was an amazing sight I never have ever seen before(multi-level walkways to different mines in the mountainside. My Uncle ended up going belly-up...He died at the age of 52. He was a character...He set firecrackers off on an oriental rug in his house. I loved that man.

As someone who loves history and understands how short of a time frame a few hundred years is, it infuriates me to see the attitude that the US (or really anywhere else) is 100% tapped out of natural resources. Think of how remote SO many places are even today. The pioneers and natives barely touched the natural resources this nation has to offer and so often people discount the middle of this country as “redneck” because it hasn’t been developed. We have vast resources, we just need to the work ethic and risk tolerance of the “old timers”....if we did then history would see the hundred or two hundred years between us to be nothing, just like I look at miners in Spain in antiquity. They still have mines in Spain and we will have ground to mine for 3,000 years or more here in the US. By the time virgin ground really becomes impossible to find we’ll be mining asteroids or drilling straight into the core for metals...the point is that attitude is half the battle, and half of what keeps the west alive is knowing it’s still out there on that vast amount of BLM and National Forest land. Look at a pic of the US at night from space and you’ll see how empty the country is west of the Mississippi still. Go get it and stop telling yourself it’s all been seen and done.

Jeff, I lived in Bullhead City in the early fifties. This episode sure back memories. The long haul up out of Bullhead headed to Kingman overheated a lot of the old vehicles. They had canvas water bags hanging in a turnout for the needy radiators and it was a blessing. I found my first gold at Katheryn's landing. Hotter than blue blazes ,so we went swimming at the fairly new Lake Mohave. Running into the water I stubbed my toe on and let out a holler. My dad hated sissies and asked me why I was yelling. I picked up this rock that caused the problem and then, I started hollering about the gold shot through the fist size chunk of quartz shining in the bright Arizona sun. Having worked in the copper mine in Morenci he had an aversion to gold. He grabbed the chunk and heaved it into the lake telling me it was fools gold and only fools looked for gold.

@@dianaspy6733 I replied with the coordinates but looks like it got removed. Basically, if you take hwy 68 coming out of Bullhead City heading towards Golden Valley, you'll go through the mountains. When you come over the top of the mountain and start to descend, on the right, be on the lookout for a group of tall green trees, a sign of a spring. There should be a small area on the shoulder that you can pull over and walk down there.

YM, It's now owned by the state of Az. A couple of years ago, on facebook one of the great grand kids posted some old family photos of the homestead and told a little bit of the family history. Sorry but I don't have a link.

It's spelled Rhyolite and gold is usually found in quartz. Rhyolite is explosive when it comes out of a volcano and why some volcanoes are more dangerous.

@@priscillaross-fox9407 Aahh.. ok.. Thanks for the input.. I was typing as I was watching this VDO and my info was coming from JW's explanation of the area as he was exploring while making this current VDO we are commenting on.. I am not even close to being as educated in geology as JW.. And.. especially that area he was exploring.. but thanks though for catching my errors.. I value people's expert input in geology.. Lord knows I am not the most knowledgeable as others.. Smiles...

That would be nice to stake a claim see if the BLM would let you restore one of the buildings so you could stay out there and still hunt for gold i know you can stay on a claim if your working it but restore a building you can stay in longer maybe restore it back to the original use the gold you find to fix the buildings.
