Love this advice! When I coach I use the analogy 9f teaching a kid to throw a ball. Before you even lift that throwing arm you look at what you want to throw at. The principal is exactly the same and I find it helps people digest the advice 😁😁

I can confirm that this is an overlooked advice. In a barebow competition last month, I shot the wrong target buttress twice. Once during qualification, once during individual olympic round. There were 2 other archers who did the same. We swore we heard a hit but was curious we saw 1 less arrow from our binoculars. We had a few laughs after it was over.

Mr. Kaminski is thank you for offering your safe archery advice through this and all your other videos. I feel very privileged to be able to access your material whilst standing on different continent to you, and in the southern hemisphere.

This is one of the best videos I have watched yet Jake. It’s the exact same “first step” approach to shooting firearms… look at the target, your body will align itself! Thanks again for the great tips!!

We have a seriously good barebow archer at the club and this was the single piece of advice that improved my groups the most.

Thanks Jake, good advice. I shoot korean bow, instinctively. I learned to never take my eyes off my target. I practice blind nocking, never look off target unless something goes wrong and I have to abort my shot. Keep the advice coming!

Good advice. Holds true for archery, also for shotgun sports , like skeet and sporting clays. Don't take your eye off the target.

Absolutely! ❣ The one of many instructions you advised our club a few years back. 🥰 Right next to, NOT moving my head when drawing back...still in use today! 😘

Excellent point! Professional golfers also do the same thing. I noticed this myself. It quites me down and almost become Zen like with the target!!!!!! If not, well ????? Thanks Jake excellent tip......!

Some one once said (paraphrasing here) "Drill a hole in the X with your eyes" I think it may have been you Jake. Head position is often overlooked yet a critical part of the shot process.

I spent weeks this spring/summer past re-teaching my bow shoulder not to climb towards my ear each time I drew on the string. Not sure if this advice woulda helped resolve that, but it was a lesson in how your body can 'go rogue' on you: worst part was that the bad habit crept in unnoticed, and was well-embedded before i became sufficiently aware (I'm uncoached) to know I needed to take remedial action.

I picked archery up as a hobby this summer and went from only a few arrows making it to the target to pretty respectable grouping mostly on target with these videos. Hi Jake. You make it look so easy. A couple questions for the new guy. Why are you holding the string an inch below the nocking point when you shoot? Are your arrows veins or feathers? What weight bow do you typically shoot? Sorry for all the questions. I'm used to the old split finger cant the bow shoot off the shelf method. Thanks!

i have a question: so i have been shooting for a few years and i am an engineer, so i want to design and machine my own ILF 25'' riser. What are the most important measurements? Also which distance is the actual 25'', the entire riser or from the top bolt to the bottom bolt?

Mh, if i would pull my bow and then look at the target, i would have shoot someone. It like pointing a weapon with the trigger pulled in a random direction, may be realizing then, your own kids are running in front of the gun?
