This one-to-one-correspondence activity for toddlers is not only fun, but helps improve several skills and abilities. It helps because this skill is a precursor for almost all mathematical concepts. Being able to provide a set space for each object is the first step to recognizing that each object represents "one," and consequently a number or quantity when added together.
This activity can be done using any household object that are small enough for little hands and having visually separated areas helps toddlers to recognize where each object belongs, individually.
