Hi Jason, thanks for putting this video out. Anyone who’s checked LI in the past few months has surely been prompted to use their free month just to try out LinkedIn learning, so this definitely hits home with anyone who’s interested in continued learning. As a follow up , could you list the courses you attended that you found to be the most useful?

I'm not surprised that you didn't find that much value in the shorter courses. Lots of people want "quick fixes" but the fact is that in order to become good at something, or knowledgeable at something, you've got to work for it and spend a lot of time on it.
@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz
@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! The quick courses were good REFRESHERS, if nothing else. But definitely not something I'd be crazy proud of "finishing" 😆

Learning paths! These are the good, lengthy courses I like. They are a bundle of courses all related to a topic and they go from basic to advanced. They give you a certificate per course and a certificate after completing the learning path. I am doing an excel learning path that goes from basic to very badass. I already knew the basics so I watched that part without paying much attention; but I once started the advanced formulas I immediately knew I had a lot to learn.
@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz
@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Giovanni, Learning Paths are great! I took the Digital Advertising one. Super agree with you, some parts are a snoozefest if you're experienced but I felt quite challenged during the more technical parts of the course. Thanks for dropping by, I appreciate it 😊🤘🏼

@Martin Findlay No, that shouldn't matter. Maybe the instructors added new content. Take a look, it happened in my Advanced Excel formulas I had something incomplete. Sometimes also when you use the mobile app there is content that seems to get skipped.

The three things (drawback) you mentioned about LinkedIn Learning are true. But if you have paid version, I'd go for Learning Paths. That makes LinkedIn Learning a badass. I am I still love LinkedIn Learning particularly their Learning Paths.

Anybody considering LinkedIn learning (especially in the US & particularly if you’re in an area with a robust library system) some libraries offer access to LinkedIn learning free for library cardholders. Personally I know Boston Public Library & Charleston County Library (South Carolina) do. Check your local library, or if they don’t have it then see if you can pay to join an outside library system for access. Good luck to everyone looking to improve your career skills.

The cultural thing is my biggest issue with LI Learning. The way they speak, the tone of many of the courses and some of the things they say annoy me a lot and I find it difficult to stay motivated. I think there are many KZfaq classes that are much more fun to follow along because they don't feel as "corporate" as many of the LI Learning courses.

Coursera is the best. But it breaks my heart that the content in some courses is outdated and there is no way to know except after investing a quite time with the course.
@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz
@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz 2 жыл бұрын
That's a fair point. Depending on the industry, this can either be a huge problem or just a minor annoyance. For digital marketing, as an example, anything older than 2-3 years is IMO outdated. But for "general marketing", concepts can have a little more longevity. Thanks for dropping by, I appreciate it!

@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz
@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Humi, thanks for the comment and for the lifetime subscription 😅🙌🏼 If one month lang ang membership, take as many courses as possible na para sulit. Suggestion ko, aim for a Learning Path - nakaset na yung modules (each one has a certificate if yun ang gusto mo) tapos may "final certificate" pa when you finish the full Learning Path.

Hi Neida, thanks for dropping by. It would depend on your objectives. @BetterTodaywithJasonCruz
@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz 3 жыл бұрын
Good question, Krishna! It depends on what you want to use the certificates for. For example, if you want to use them to illustrate a continuous drive for self-improvement - then they're 'valid' as a proof point. However, if you want to use them as substitutes for certification from more traditional (i.e., formal) schools, then it might be difficult if not downright impossible. From my personal experience, they help more for the former and I've never used them for the latter.
