A chair is only useful as a chair, but that bench has so many uses! I can see it being super-useful with a standard van for cleaning solar panels, getting to rooftop boxes, etc. And at 41" it could store vertically inside, or maybe attached to the bottom of the bed. 14:14 What great lighting on that ocotillo! And thank you for the other beautiful sunrise images.

Great vlog Carrie and Dave (and Roodle). I was proud of Roodle making back up that steep climb! Thanks for the info on this interesting little corner of CA. I hope you do catch the Super Bloom! Having lived in southern CA for half my life, I did catch it once. I was beyond amazing! Every single type of vegetation out there was blooming. Every cactus, tree, shrub, weed, wildflower, and things sprouting and blooming in the ground that probably only bloom under certain conditions. Every color! It was a real treat. I went out with a Sierra Club 4x4 group and we camped overnight (major wind and sandstorm), but it was worth it. I took my Dad with me and he just loved it too. That was his type of thing that he didn't get to do very often. Great memories.

Beautifully done! We are “most timers”, home based just over the hill and west of Julian. Hope that you had a great view of the super bloom. Dave, you will get there. We changed up cooking duties around our 25th anniversary. I had ZERO cooking skills at the time. We’ve now been married 54 years, and I can produce a fine dining food experience. Love the sunrise challenge segment!!! Safe travels!

Dave, that sandwich looked delicious! Can’t go wrong with cheese. I found some canned veggies; carrots, potatoes, celery which are easily stored and can be added to a dish like that to make it more healthy. Of course, onions are a veggie too, so you hit all the major food groups. 😄

Yea!!! I love Anza Borrego! I teach in Brawley. Every February, I take my 3rd graders to the visitors' center. We hike to the Palm Canyon. Love being there for the super bloom. Hope you enjoy the desert! Go Roodle!!!

Great spot. I thought the paraglider dude was gonna land and come say hi 😄. Roodle is adorable in his booties. You guys take such good care of him. He is one happy dogger!! I've been familiar with those ladder benches for some time but it sure never occurred to me to use one for an exercise bench. I'll remember that one 👍. Take care guys and safe travels!! 🥰♥️

Glad you confirmed our idea about the construction bench. A great multipurpose addition to the van and van life. We visited Anzo Borrego in February. Wish we had known about this location.

The best sunset we’ve ever seen was in Ajo, Arizona with multi level clouds…. It lasted for what seemed like an hour!!!

Dave. Flat bread pizza. Flat bread any size. Canned pizza sauce. Spread on the bread. Put in thick layer of shredded cheeses. Add any toppings. ( I like to sauté chopped: sausage, sweet peppers, onions, mushrooms, pineapple, whatever. Add any spices. I like Italian mix plus garlic & onion powder. You can just put the flat bread in a skillet; on medium low heat, cover with lid. Or 300 degrees in a toaster oven. Heat thru. Done.

Yes, this is the only way I make pizza now because it's the perfect size for me. Naan bread (garlic flavour) is my favourite flatbread to use.

I'm with you Dave I don't want a reclining chair. I broke my tailbone a few decades go and the reclining chairs put pressure on exactly the wrong spot. I like chairs and seats where I sit pretty straight up. Airplane seats are the worst. I'm absolutely amazed that you can keep Roodle's "shoes"on him. Good idea for a sandwich, but I'd add the 'shrooms. My wife can't eat peppers so I'm thinking this could be a possibility. Thanks! Keep the good stuff coming guys.

We love mushrooms and would have added them if we had any! Roodle is just a good boy…. We have nothing to do with him keeping his shoes on😂😂 but I’m glad he wears them!!

Roodle is a Very Lucky Pup.........you spoil him and he looks SO happy!! We also have back problems and found a chair at Sam's that has a stiffer seat and back with a tray on the side. Problem is they are still about 4" thick when folded. That bench looks like it covers all bases!! Beautiful photography (as always) Carrie!! Safe Travels.

That area is so unique; looks like you're on another planet - so stark and beautiful. Roodle turned into a mountain goat getting his ball back, and those booties are perfect for rocky playtime. Dave, if you cook the onions first until they caramelize, remove onto a plate, then cook meat in pan, you will end up with a boat-load more of yummy flavours in your sandwich. nice video, thank you.. for sure!!! we always enjoy your videos and all of the care that you take into putting them together!! just a thought ... can use boneless skinless thighs for that sandwich also or use tortillas in place of bread... just use a pair of scissors to cut the meat into strips. could also add a little smoked paprika for a bbq type of flavor.

We don’t put bell peppers on our cheesesteaks in Philly. Tourists and people not from Philly do that. And we cook our onions until they caramelize. All in all not bad for someone who doesn’t cook. I missed meeting you guys in Quartzsite. If you come through next season I’ll teach you how to make a proper Philly cheesesteak 👍🏾

Wind was okay! Those sunglasses are 7 years old! They were my last free pair from the eye doctors that I worked at. They are Gucci and have all the bells and whistle’s…. I will never be able to afford them again in the future and I will be sad when they finally break!
