I mainly like how this is one of the few frozen pizza producers that actually cares about using real ingredients. It's very rare to find that nowadays without paying a huge premium.

Just typed Home Run Inn Pizza in the search bar. I see YT does not disappoint. For my introverted teenage lifestyle, Home Run Inn was a weekly tradition. The crust always tasted better than any other frozen choices at the time. I ate a personal size Pepperoni or plain cheese (depending on my mood) every Saturday, which was perfect because where I lived, that was the evening that my local Fox station broadcast WWF Smackdown before it moved to ABC (and then eventually we finally got a full time UPN affiliate). Pizza and WWF Attitude were all I ever needed. I don't watch much wrestling any more, and I've cleaned up my diet a little bit, but I will hold on to those memories, until the day I die. On the rare occasion I do get myself a frozen pizza, it's still Home Run Inn for me!

Home Run Inn is the best Frozen pizza by far. When its burnt like Dave cooked it its probably terrible. You have to cook it for less than it says on the box. I normally cook it for 15 minutes and it comes out perfect.

I tried that "Screaming Sicilian" pizza that he claimed was better than HRI and that shit went in the trash!! No better frozen pizza than HRI.....NONE!

Gotta say, I don’t think you cooked the pizza long enough, that cheese has to look almost like a burnt orange on top all the way through, but I definitely can tell it wasn’t cooked long enough because the bottom was still very light, that being said, this is the best frozen pizza a person can buy and it ain’t even close!!

It's probably been 20 or so years since I've been to home run inn on 31st street in Chicago. I was probably 9 or 10 when my mom found their frozen pizzas at jewel/osco and the pizza from the restaurant is definitely way better than frozen for me. I currently live in Vegas and will buy a frozen home run inn occasionally. I think wetting the crust with water and rotating it in the oven helps, but getting it fresh is still way better. For me the review was on point!

“Do I look fat?” Literally everytime I see myself in a mirror...Keep at it Dave, this whole frozen pizza thing will go down in history in the annals of pizza reviews.

Want a grocery market pizza cooking tip?! (First... you cooked the pizza to long in your video). Second, take a pizza pan (dollar tree aluminum pan works good) and rinse under water. leave a small amount of water (IE just some left over rinse drops) on pan. Third, grease the water residue with butter all over the bottom of the pan (a butter slurry would be to watery... slurry pequeno). Fourth, take pizza out of fridge and put on pan. Fifth heat oven hot (like 550 degrees hot) while pizza is sitting on pan waiting for oven to heat (and not put bake in fridge). The small amount of absorbed water / pizza crust ice will act to "steam" the crust like a steamed hot dog bun while it cooks. Sixth, as the pizza is going to be baked much hotter than normal you will need to cook it less. Not only that, the cheese will melt better in the hotter oven. It will usually take 1/2 to 3/4 the time to normally cook. Watch like a hawk while cooking. For "Home Run" pizza I remember it being like 10 to 12 minutes? Lottza Mottza was a little more? Also, depending on the crust you can go the other way oven wise. Red Barron tastes good cooked at 245 deg for 30 - 40 min. (Melts the cheese, crust is already done and prevents further cooking and drying). So if you know the pizza crust isn't pre done before frozen and shipped you can use the really hot method. If you know the crust is pre done before cooking you might chose the non further crust baking cooler method. Trial and error and experience... Deep dish pizza you can usually use the cooler method; though some deep dish pizzas do not have finished crusts... Reheating cooked pizza is best with the cooler cooking method if you freeze the uneaten portion quick enough. Hope this helps...

Back in the 1960s my Dad used to get pizzas from the Home Run Inn on 31st St, it was his favorite.

I've been eating this for years once a week. Preheat to 470. Take the pizza out of the freezer and slice the plastic. Do not remove the pizza from the plastic until the iven has preheated. Rake the pizza and put it in the middle of the lower rack of the oven. Set your timer for 12 minutes. Perfect pizza. This guy made the top too well done. Dry.! You can stp at 10 minutes and add washed and dried off baby spinach. Add those 2 minutes. You can cover the top lightly with foil and cook an additional 1 minute for the bottom to get crisper. I am telling you so delicious. I remove some of the pepperoni slices. I also like it without pepperoni. The pepperoni does not have nitrates. Red Baron is a sauce balm. Awful! Home Run is the best.

Just a side note for anyone watching this. Wash your dishes, knives, pizza cutters, etc, before you use them. I've worked in a factory that made silverware, we DO NOT wash them at the factory, they are coated and sprayed with all sorts of chemicals to make them look pretty at the end of manufacturing, and its always done with the understanding that the consumer will wash them BEFORE they use them.

Personally my top frozen pie of all time. Beats the pants off anyone else in the freezer section, but also costs as much as a take out pizza.

I'd never heard of these either, but saw them at HEB here in Texas and decided to try them....then I looked here to see if you'd reviewed them. Literally just finished the last few slices cold. Before I watch...this is the best frozen pizza I have eaten in decades. My previous go-to was Brookshire's (it's a regional grocery chain) ultra-thin crust, but they don't have that chain here in Bryan, Texas. Home Run is a frikkin home run. First off...the crust is incredible. Crunchy, flaky...amazing. The sauce is what pizza used to taste like back in the day...incredible...not too tart, not too sweet...just right, and not overpowering. The cheese is legit and it overall just took me back to a better time and place when corporations weren't skimping on ingredients and the process to save money. I got a pepperoni, which is the gold medal standard for me...and the pepperoni was incredible as well. This is the best frozen pizza I have ever eaten. Better than old-school Tombstones and Red Barons; and it beats the tires off all these new frozen pizza makers with catchy packaging. This has to be a 9.2 in the frozen category. Now...back to the show....

This is a shocker! IMO Home Run Inn is the greatest frozen pizza of all time. The perfect buttery crust along with the tangy sauce. I'm surprised Dave didn't rate this higher. I'm glad that he did review this though.

Pizza plate makes a perfect gift for that bachelor in your life that has everything else.

It matters if he cooked directly on the rack (or on cast iron) which helps build “undercarriage” crispness by letting steam escape (rack) or absorbing it (cast iron), vs on aluminum pan, which traps steam. I think Home Run is the best frozen pizza. I cook on the rack, then finish off on a cast iron skillet on the stove, and the result is a magnificent crispness all the way to the center. I love Amy’s as well, but by properly cooking directly on the open rack, then finishing on cast iron on the stove, Home Run wins, but it’s close. I don’t bother with Screamin’ Sicilian, because they add refined sugar to the crust and sauce.
