The All Blacks have arrived back in New Zealand with the heartbreak of the Rugby World Cup final loss and the sun firmly setting on Ian Foster's tenure as head coach.
Fresh off the plane, Ardie Savea, Ian Foster, Same Cane and Sam Whitelock, speak about their experience of the loss and the “immense” support they have felt from the New Zealand public.

What the media don't talk about was how Ardie stayed back to thank the fans who appeared one at a time because of this the South African fans saw it and started chanting his name. Man is a great rugby player but an ever better person.

@@shibuya3185 Your rugby style is boring and utterly mud to watch, Mike Tyson bought excitement to boxing, just like ABs running rugby, SA like the Klitchkos of boxing, boring and robotic. You win but outside of SA no one respects your style anywhere near AB standard.

@@seymorbutts1027 I think this is harsh... World Cup rugby in general is a different brand of rugby. I don't think anybody found the Springboks win at Twickenham 'boring'...No doubt ABs create exciting tries etc, but did you find SA v France boring? Not a loaded question just a genuine point. 1 point victories create more drama than a 40 point blowout against Argentina in a semifinal. Nobody will remember that semi final, whereas the SA France and SA England games will be remembered for being absolute nails.

Humble, honest and hungry for more. Fozzie has epitomized true leadership as has Sam Cane. As a Wallaby fan, I am super proud how this NZ team exemplified the values of this wonderful game. Sam Cane - the love for your captaincy and values is not restricted to NZ. Ardie - you too are a global credit to the game. NZ public - get behind your team. They have been one of the greatest Kiwi teams to bounce back from such second guessing and hostility to exceed expectations. They represent the best values of NZ. Thank you to all of you. Stand proud that you fought for each other.

lads, you've gone away as a side that had a lot of doubts and a lot of naysayers and you went and played one game that was one of the best games the ABs have ever played and then followed it up with a 14 man finals performance that a different bounce of the ball could have been a win. You've come home having restored the mana to the ABs jersey. We're so proud of you.

@@wlk2408 No where near the greatest. If the weakest ABs side with 14 men drove them to the end along with a yellow card, what does that make this Boks team? No where near the best. Every top 5 team of all time would've run this ABs team off the park with 14 men.

@henripanapa2942 Every top five team who lost five of their top players just before the start and during a World Cup and having to play five of the top six ranked teams in the world would have made the final nevermind run the All Blacks of their feet. This is the only team to have done it, no other team have. It's funny. In 2019, when England lost to the Springboks in the final, everybody said they played their final the week before against New Zealand. They couldn't produce another big performance a week later. Two big performances were too difficult for them. The other excuse was the early loss of their prop. Well, South Africa had three games like that in three weeks, and they also lost their hooker after an illegal foul play in just the third minute of the game. They then had to bring on a guy who hadn't played hooker for at least ten years. Still, they win without being able to use their lineout to It's full potential. No mate, this team did what no other team has ever done, and no other team will probably ever get the opportunity to do what they did. It is truly a once in history performance. They will most probably stand alone until this beautiful game doesn't exist anymore.

I'm a Sri Lankan but as an ABs supporter this final will always make a perfectly good day a little less enjoyable. I also know where this team was ranked by many pundits before this world cup even began and all they lacked was just 1 point as the WC came to an end. It certainly didn't feel like they were down to 14 men for the greater part of the game which I still cannot come to terms with. "The worst ABs team in the history" still almost got there which is why I am so proud of what rugby means to this country with a population of just a little over 5 million. This world cup started at a time where I was working on my research and every NZ game started at 12:30 in the morning in Sri Lankan time and I stayed up for every game. I will always be a proud supporter and I'm excited for Razor's run. Kia Kaha!

@@jamiegibling3688 NOT according the the Laws/Rules of the game ;-) Look at the incident again. You can have your own opinion, but not your own set of facts. :-) Compare that to Kolisi incident where the latter did not directly hit his opponent's head, was also bent as he went into the tackle, and first hit the upper shoulder before making contact with the AB player's head. Clear difference, and the very reason why the one was kept a yellow, and Cane's was upgraded to red as he hit the head of his opponent DIRECTLY. It's also NOT the first time Cane did this same incident-type tackle, given his RECENT matches before the World Cup, so Cane has only himself to blame to fall on the wrong side of the Law, which was ultimately correctly applied by the match officials in this instance. It appears that the match officials also missed the red/yellow card incident with a high tackle onto the head/neck of centre Jesse Kriel during the match. Plus I recall 3 incidents where the AB threw (possible) points away, given this was a 1-point margin game: A penalty missed, a conversion missed, as well as kicking a penalty to the line-out and not attempting, within close distance, to slot it through the poles in the first half. That's a potential 8 point swing. So harping on the ref's decisions, whether their mistakes were real -- or imagined -- is absolutely moot.

The New Zealanders like us in South Africa support our teams no matter what happens. The supporters of the two teams know exactly how the other teams supporters feel and have sympathy with them. Two great rugby nations.

The ABs scored… The most points The most tries The most conversions The most offloads The most breakouts The most runs … in the 2023 World Cup. It hurts not to win that last game, but the squad should be immensely proud of what they did and have come away being the team with the most flair, most open, and most positive game in the tournament. Well done Lads.
