We travelled to Bali in 2019 and loved it. We stayed in Ubud (which was amazing!!) and then in Nusa Dua. The rice fields, Coffee and hospitality of the Balinese people made our trip so fun. We even went quad bike riding in the Indonesian jungle. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us! We cannot wait to travel to Bali again. We're doing a working holiday in Canada at the moment (we are Australians 😊). New Subscribers here 👋🏽👋🏻😊 - D&S

Tia, congrats, yes, you got your Bourdain moment. Eating Babi Guling while on Bali. Glad to see you and Cheveyo enjoyed it. As with most dishes in Indonesia it can be quite spicy. In that case ask the waiter for some krupuk udang (shrimp wafers), they will take the heat away. Tanah lot is nice, but as you found out a bit of a tourist trap. The region around Ubud is beautiful, but while you have your littel scooter, venture out to the north of the island. It is not as spoiled by tourists as the southern part with Sanur and Seminyak. You can more or less mingle with the locals who are living a more simple and less commercial life. If yougo all the way up to Lovina you can make a boat tour to meet the large pod of dolphins hanging around there. But whatever you guys are doing: enjoy every moment, love, live and share. I'm enjoying every single episode you post. P.S. Grab a decent coffee. I saw you have plenty supporters for that. And cake. And show. And tell. I subscribed (a while ago).🥞🥞🥞🥮🥮🎂🍪🍨🍧🍧🍨🥧🧁🍰🍮🍮🧋🧋🧋🧋🧋🧋☕☕☕☕☕

I remember my first water flavoured orange fanta in Ubud 😅and setting out on a run one morning the length of Kuta and back..... noticing someone hot on my tail ,and being competitive,I upped the pace .....as did he,faster and faster and then the sun came up 😯🤒🌞lol we were almost at a sprint when we got back to the hotel,where the Japanese chap introduced himself and thanked me for setting pace as he was a training triathlete ,he then challenged me to ten laps of the pool.....one lap in I snuck out and scurried off into the gardens absolutely toasted haha best way to start a day in a foreign country though(jogging not sprinting)....hottest meal = sanur,wow🔥spent a fortune on cold juices 🤣🌺🌺🇳🇿

As far as I know you really need a lot of sugar etc to make pure Cocoa taste good xD so it can very well be the real deal xD
@OnePackWanderers
@OnePackWanderers 2 жыл бұрын
Oh definitely! Pure cocoa is really bitter and has that sort of sour flavor you get with 80-100% dark chocolate. I used to make ice cream from scratch at an ice cream parlor so I used cocoa powder a lot 😬 The reason I think this maybe isn't pure cocoa is that it tastes extremely mild and sort of starchy. I think it was maybe cut with rice flower or something 😅

Sorry I'm just confused as to what you were expecting from the cocoa powder? I mean the packet doesn't seem to say cacao or coffee on it?
@OnePackWanderers
@OnePackWanderers 2 жыл бұрын
We were just expecting cacao powder. That’s what the packet says and it’s what the owner of the plantation said it was when he sold it to us. The idea was to mix some cacao powder with coffee (that we also purchased from the same plantation) to make an unsweetened chocolate coffee. We were both baristas and we’ve made this drink many times. The problem is that the plantation sold us powdered cacao and coffee that are diluted with something else (probably to cut costs). Both powders are almost completely tasteless and don’t result in a drink that’s anything like what we sampled at the plantation. We looked up the place on Google and unfortunately there are dozens of reviews complaining about the same thing. It was basically a bait and switch. Oh well, live and learn.
