I love the "blind" photo tests done in which the OP11 beats out the iPhone and Samsung phones, yet everyone always says the same thing. The cameras "underwhelm". The cameras are great and the 5 years of support is fine. Very few owners of high-end phones wait more than 5 years between phones. This phone has the best processor available, the most RAM ever on a smartphone, the brightest screen ever on a smartphone, the best display available, the largest battery available between OP, iPhone, Samsung and Pixel. The fastest charging of any of these 4 brands. For the money, it is a no-brainer for me. Can't wait to get my OP12.

I find it strange that you're calling the cameras underwhelming when they are generally being heaped with praise everywhere else. I wonder what you're seeing that others apparently aren't. Glad you mentioned the software updates - I can't even find mention of it on their website. I'm okay with 4/5 years of updates. I've never kept a phone in daily use longer than 4 years anyway. I'm normally 2-3. Although my daughter is still running my OG OnePlus 3 as her daily. That's coming up on 8 years old now, original battery and everything.

Its a good camera its just not better than iphone 15 pros, galaxy 23 and 24 ultra and the pixels 8s… but like i said the phone taking great pictures. I am personal thinking of getting it 😅

@@Anonymous-pm7jf well, I got the S24 Ultra 2 days ago and I'm finding the cameras mixed vs the Pixel 7 Pro. The Pixel nails some indoor shots every time that so far the S24U fails at every time for me. (Indoors, black dog, sleeping sends the Galaxy into night mode with a 3-5 second shutter EVERY time.) But man, the battery is frankly amazing. First full day with it yesterday stuck in a waiting room for 8.5 hours and got out with 10% left. My Pixel couldn't have done that on its best day.

I almost didn't get the 11 because reviewers talked bad about the camera i ended up really liking it. Im sure this camera is great. I even took some great photos with the Nord N30 but it had to be in good lighting.

Finally a phone that doesnt put all the money on the camera, i dont take much photos and most phones advertise having a good camera and i dont care for them. So this is gonna be an upgrade from my 7 pro

I completely agree with you. It's surprising how much emphasis people put on camera quality. Unless you're a professional photographer, the camera on your phone or basic point-and-shoot is more than sufficient for everyday use. There are so many other important features to consider when buying a phone, such as battery life and storage capacity. Let's not get caught up in the camera hype and focus on what truly matters.

Software updates can easily address those minor flaws with the camera. Not too worried about it. Overall a great phone for $799 USD!

Seems to me many of the complaints about the camera will be worked out in software updates. As the reviewer himself said, it is surprising that these camera sensors would have trouble like this with the lighting, and even the OP11 did better in nighttime shots. These are clear indicators that this is a software issue that will be worked out before too long. And in the interim you can just use GCam or any alternate camera software for night shots. Really not as big a deal as being made here, unless the overwhelming majority of your phone snaps are made at night.

Correct. It's the same sensors as the Open that was praised for its cameras. The main sensor on the 12 is a slightly different one though and it is supposedly better when phone arena compared them. It's almost assuredly a software algorithm that needs a tweak.

OnePlus somehow never nails the camera at launch. Just like the 9 Pro. As long as they still listen to feedback it can get very promising with updates. They have the hardware. 👍

I hate that they compare this phone to the ultra and pro models. Compare it to the ones in its price range. Regular S24 and Regular iPhone 15. It is called Oneplus 12. There is no pro or ultra in its name. This phone blows them away in every aspect except for an ip rating.

I'm pretty sure the 12 was made to compete with the S24 Ultra, 8 pro and iPhone 15 max, there's the OnePlus 12r out that's significantly cheaper with just a few things missing if you compare it to the regular OnePlus 12

4:09 that is actually insane, my Pixel 8 Pro doing that same test would probably be down to about 40-50% battery left with Wifi connected.

I've seen enough photos of the night shots and it's entirely subjective on whether shadows being over-exposed or not looks better. Generally it seems OP12 preserves reality as seen by eyesight better. Plus I'm curious what effect Master Mode has, as most of the differences between cameras is a matter of post-processing, it seems.

I've noticed the light drop off on the sides of the screen left and right when white background is on. Is that because of the curved screen or is it a defect on the screen ?

A lot of people take a ton of photos with their phones. They aren't professional photographers. They just want to take and point and have the phone so the heavy lifting. What he mean is this isn't the best for that.

@@ChristopherPoitras Yeah, true it's not the best point and shoot, but it is more than enough. To be honest with one software update it could change everything to a more equal playing field. Maybe even Gcam can give it an edge. If you had two pictures exactly the same and looked at each depending on the mode and situation in good lighting conditions. I bet it would be pretty difficult to tell the difference unless you are experienced in photography and have an eye for pixel peeping.

Best phone so far with that price also. Better than S24 in many ways. 1. Better, bigger battery and charge waaay faster. 2. Better screen due to more BIT colors and smoother scrrolling due to their new tec and much brighter. 3. CPU has been showen better in many benchmark tests here on KZfaq. 4. Face onlock is way faster and does not lack in miss readinga.... Basically This phone is better in all the areas that really matters.... Samsung still have a better camera tho if you are into that sort of things and some gimmic things that really doesn't matter..... It's pure crap by Samsung to have a phone like that with that price when you can get this.

This phone does cover the eye strain issue. It kicks up the refresh rate with the PWM. There are some review videos that cover this.

I just cant get on board with nitpicking over software support commitments that far outlive the battery in the device. Often, it's cheaper to trade in your 4 year old device for a new one than it is to replace the battery. It's neither economical nor a good cost-benefit for most people to pay for a replacement battery for a 3-4 year old phone.

I just placed my pre-order earlier today. It's unfortunate that we're not getting the white exterior color here in the USA. It was between this and the S24 Ultra for me. I really wanted the flat and rectangular screen of the S24 Ultra but for the price, specs, and 16GB of RAM, I felt the OnePlus 12 was the better value.

The S24 Ultra is indeed a beast, but I also agree the 12 offers a stronger value with little compromise. I'm spoiled with the flat screen on my Pixel 8 Pro and wish other companies would drop the curved screen fad. Too many cons with those designs IMO. But to be fair phones with curved screens feel much smaller than they really are in the hand with their tapered sides.

Which color did you go for? I was smitten over the white because it was the only color being advertised on the OnePlus Store app when they started promoting it. I'm gonna pre-order, but kinda wanna wait to see if there are any last minute changes to launching the white or any other global exclusive color

@@Maino_13 I chose black. I know it's basic but I have OCD and the lighter colors with polished frames and camera rings get smudges easier. Also LOVE the texture on their black phones. Its hard to describe but it's pleasant to hold. From what I understand the white variant is China only. But if you consider the green it doesn't have the same slick glossy back that the Emerald 11 had. It's more of a frosted glass like the Pixel 8 Pro. A lot of people said it also feels nice and complimented it's texture.

I ended up pre-ordering the silky black; I cannot stand the "Flowy Emerald (i.e. green)" color. It is too bad that the "Cool Blue" color is not available for the 12 and only for the 12R - I think they should have swapped the Emerald for the 12R and Blue for the 12. At this point, I figured the color would not matter much since I am going to put it inside a case anyways, though, the white would have definitely stood out in a clear case of some sort. Honestly, I really wanted the orange S24 Ultra in either the 512 GB (or 1 TB) but I just could not justify the price even with the discounts and trade-in (I am trading in my Pixel 7 so I am not receiving too much for it).@@Maino_13

Let's be honest, hardly anyone is going to keep a phone for 5 years or more as a daily driver. Being disappointed that OnePlus isn't matching Google with longevity is just being nitpicky in my opinion. With that said, this phone is really good. OnePlus is doing some great things with their hardware

I'm still rocking a oneplus 6t. To get updates had to get linage os on it and it is still fast. Obviously battery is now very bad and camera is outdated. Otherwise still serves very well.

Four years from now cellphone designs will be totally different, so I'm not worried anout keeping it longer than that. The future cellphone will be a candybar design with a pull out screen. Candybar to get better cooling and larger, deeper cameras, not to mention a better speaker design. THIS WILL BE THE FUTURE!

Don't care about the camera at all. The carppy software support is about the only thing I'm concerned about. Otherwise it's an amazing phone. I'd like to add two of my own gripes. I wish it had IP68 waterproofing. They were able to do it for the OnePlus 8 pro.Why not the 12? Then I wish the size of the phone was a bit smaller. It's on the large size of phones. Less width would be good. Like an Xperia.

I got Oneplus 12 , I plan to use it in Europe and in other countries because I travel constantly in Asia and south America But i think i got the indian version , i checked the software number and updates from the oneplus community website and its for sure indian version Never owned an indian device before , any downsides ? should i return it ? Its working normally for my usage , but its just i never used an indian smartphone before so it got me worried Thx for help

I am amazed how most presenters always overlook the most important feature of these devices , a phone call . I've owned the oneplus 6t performance was excellent, but the battery was the weakest link. I also owned quite a few Samsung phones all of them performed poorly when it came to a phone call .

..the real battery life doesn't live up the hype, is erratic and random, could be 7h+ sot, or 3,5 - 4hrs on average..

Depends if you want long Software Updates these Updates are Important because if a Phone does not get Updatet it can be easily hacked. Google Pixel offers 8 Years. One Plus 4 Years feature Updates and 5 Years Secjrity Updates

Is will be the best phone of 2024 its half the price if the 24 ultra and with the 12 you get 95% of that phone. Same processor, great software and you'll get 5 years if support. The camrea is more than good enough. Faster charging speeds and a battery life thats insane. Plus the trade in deals OnePlus is giving out for this phone is crazy.

So tired of these reviews bashing camera's..... I believe the average person would be more than happy with the camera on the OnePlus 12. Even the Apple's and the Samsungs and the Pixels can take bad photos from time to time depends on each situation. And let's face it these aren't exactly professionals taking photos with these phones as well. This guy can't even get the specs of the phone correct for Pete's sake. In my opinion you can't go wrong with the price of this phone and this is coming from a OnePlus user.

I agree. I compared my OP12 with my cousin's S24 Ultra. I gotta say, OP12 ain't fooling around this year. Especially how natural it looks and how it's easy to focus on different subjects compared to the Ultra and the best part is that you get almost the same with less cost.

@@kudens_22 the only thing that really bothers me is the fact that they moved the volume rocker on the right side. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to put the volume up and I hit the power button . They should have kept it on the left much better. But I'm sure there was a reason for moving it .

@@jimmyvillatoro170 for sure, 6 series was definitely good and 8 too, I just think 7 pro is goated because it pretty much does everything the 8 and 9 do, but has a notchless display. Anyways, no shade on the other models, I just think 7 pro was a very high point in the oneplus lineup. Hopefully they explore new notchless displays in the future, if not another popup cam, maybe an under display one.

I disagree with your camera review. I have all the flagships and this one is my favorite. It makes true to life pics rather than simulated cartoon pics. I am a photographer.

I agree. I compared it with my cousin's S24 Ultra and the OP12 just takes photos in a more natural level.

This is a rubbish review. You can tell the guy didn't spend any time with the phone 😂. These are reviews you should never watch. It's horrible that he is actually holding the phone in his hand and can't tell what size it is.

I would not recommend any OnePlus device to anyone ever again. Have been a fan since OP1. My recent experience with my OP11 has left me feeling super disappointed. The OOS14, Android 14 update in December broke the camera so bad that it is unusable. Whole phone lock-ups, missing photos, extremely laggy and janky app performance, jittery video recordings. The list goes on. Many many people are complaining all over Reddit and the OP community forums and there is not even an acknowledgement from OP. This has been dragging out since December.
