This one is a pretty basic Fastboot install, but I figured since I hadn't covered it yet and I have had people asking about installing FlamingoOS and Paranoid Android, it was worth covering since I was installing it to give Flamingo a go anyway

You can try to flash an older build and not perform the factory reset step - it may work. But generally would recommend a backup and a clean install. Any reason why you would want to go back to A12?

Still haven't settled on something perfect, each seems to have a slightly different target audience. Personally I've liked KOSP the most, so I'm hopeful that Flamingo is able to take over

Thanks! Appreciate it! I just added PixelOS to my tracking spreadsheet I'm somewhat curious about it building on Pixel Experience but am put off with it only being on the (for OnePlus) 7TPro and McLaren, at least it supports other devices

Was wondering, what is the difference between the Vanilla and GApps downloads? And also would you recommend downloading the Android 13 version or going with the Android 12 version?

I always prefer the extra stuff of A13 personally. Vanilla and Gapps is if it comes with Google Apps or not - you generally always want the GApps version unless you're doing an anti-Google challenge

Hey!! I'm really new to this community and I really want to install a custom rom like flamingo os on my op 7tpro. But I'm a bit overwhelmed with everything, can I simply follow your steps from a normal 7tpro android 11 or I need to do something else before?

Heya, welcome to the fun side 😈 It can definitely feel that way early on, the best advice is to dive in, make mistakes, and be patient - it's the best way to learn (just be sure to back up all your data) The steps in this video should get you there, the main thing before is making sure you have ADB and Fastboot on your PC - there is a link for that in the description

This part is noting that you should start at Android 11 as many Android 12 ROM's have this requirement

You shouldn't lose data when updating this way With anything custom though, always keep backups

great video as always, just wanna check that I'm reading the download right, is the vanilla folder the OS without Gapps and the Gapps folder incs Gapps? Since the vid is there now a A13 based version too? IS this stable?

This is correct, you want the GApps one unless you don't want Google Apps A13 is stable

@@FilthyCasualTech I went for it and got the a13 full one and seems to have worked. Only thing that I'm having issues is when trying to use clone phone to get apps and data from other phone it keeps thinking its the old phone and not new and won't give me an option to switch. Also having problems trying to use the Google back up method too

Checking the Flamingo telegram group, it looks like an issue with 2.2 and Gpay/Wallet unfortunately 😭 2.1 appears to work though, but imagine a fix should be coming Also, no to face unlock Only ROM I recall using it in was Pixel Experience

Hai buddy I appreciate all your hard work . i am currently on KOSP 2.7 ( android 12 ) so just want to check in and see if I can directly follow this steps to update to flamingo os 2.1 ( android 13 ) . Is it safe to follow this method to flash flamingo os 2.1 from KOSP 2.7 ?

You could most likely do this just fine - make sure to perform a factor reset. When I made the transition I used the MSM Download tool to revert back to stock before jumping into Flamingo though

can i update it from android 10?(yesterday i hv tried your installation of Pixel experience rom on my 7 pro though it was on android 9, installation didn't worked(though there was a recommendation of having a11). As i updated my 7pro gm1913 to a10(my both cam stopped working!)but in a9 back camera is working(so i hv to stay in a9 sadly)

It would need a later Android unfortunately When I see the issue of the camera only working on A9, it's usually an indication the camera hardware is having issues

Unfortunately FlamingoOS devs have time conflicts so have stepped away

Is it me or is Google Maps MUCH laggier on this ROM compared to others? Just loaded it onto my 7T. One of the main draws for me was that Lawnchair is the default launcher so gesture navigation is nice and smooth with my favorite launcher without a need to root. The 7T is thankfully my secondary device so I can deal with some hiccups here and there.

Sadly if you upgrade to 2.0 you will lose Lawnchair for now I didn't experience any issues with Google Maps, at least for general navigation, and I use it pretty regularly - does seem a bit odd

They already have an A13 ROM on the OnePlus 5T, so it's definitely possible. Will be up to developers to implement, but imagine will see them long before OnePlus gets to it

I'm having this exact same problem right now. Bootloader is unlocked. if I lock it again, then the phone won't boot, only getting the "corrupt" message so I can't unlock bootloader again. Did you manage to solve this issue?

Clean is usually a factory reset/data wipe While you might be okay going from KOSP to Flamingo, you're best using the MSM tool to revert back to Oxygen OS 11, then installing Flamingo

Hi! I want to try flamingo. I wondering if it will it be installed on both A and B partitions automatic or do I need to do that manually? If so, how do I do that?

You shouldn't typically need to, as once you perform an update it would apply it to the other partition

@@FilthyCasualTech I was going for Flamingo Android 12 and I guess that there will be no more updates for that so A/B partition problem would persist. Perhaps I should go for Android 13 instead. Problem is i don't know if I have to start from OOS 12 for for Flamingo Android 13 (I am still on OOS11). There is only general info on Flamingo homepage and are no thread on XDA (I cannot use Telegram), so That is why I ask here.

I installed Flamingo 13 from OOS 11, so it should be fine. I have seen some 13 ROMs advise starting on 12 though

I would 100% be backing everything up before messing around Carrier models are always painful, if you convert it to international via the MSM tool, does it let you update to A11? Also, the OnePlus 7Pro 5G is a different device to the 7Pro You need builds for guacamoles (note the s on the end) I don't believe Flamingo offers these, but YAAP does

They have a whole heap of different ROMs available, looks like quite a good selection I can get behind Pixel Experience Plus as it's officially supported and I had a good experience with it on my OnePlus

Using the fastboot update command just tells me it failed to load because there's not enough space. What is going on?

Hi there. Thanks for your videos! I really appreciate your work. I'm having a tough problem flashing it on my OP7pro. I've tried following all the steps and when I enter "fastboot update" for the flamingov2.3...zip, it starts flashing but it shows fewer lines than in your video. It also shows 3 times "sending sparse 'system'". The last lines are: writing 'vendor' OKAY [0.000s] rebooting ... finished total time: 536.095s ____________________________ After this, the phone shows the usual warning of unlocked bootloader but never boots, it remains static. I've used MSM to go back to oos11 and retried the procedure without success. I'd really appreciate any help here since I'm quite new with this. Thanks!

It is odd, I've only had it not flash through once before, but it still booted into recovery in that case. Could you possibly try flashing an older file like Flamingo 2.2?

They're all pretty similar, just some tweaks here and there - not nearly as diverse as vendor OS's, but I don't think that's a bad thing

@@kuehl7190 yes I did I'm still running it but will prob switch back to flamingo or test out crdroid. Paranoid is very bare bone nothing special no extra features not a lot of customization but it's solid runner

I checked though the known issues on the Telegram thread, and this one looks to be there. So it is a Flamingo issue but I would expect a fix for it in the future

Hi, a while ago i wanted to install flamingo os. When i tried it didn't work (due to my on fault) But it was late and i had to wake up early. I decided to go with pixel experience since i needed to use my phone and i was a bit desperate. But now when i try to flash flamingo it just goes back to pixel experience. Even after wiping is from the recovery menu. Any idea what it could be? Keep up the nice video's :)

I sometimes struggle to apply it over another ROM You could try going back to OxygenOS 11 with the MSM Download Tool, then applying the ROM

I believe that's usually driver related Make sure everything is up to date, they can be pretty finicky

Please, I need help (applying to OP7T), I downloaded the fastboot.zip file but while updating it in fastboot, cmd shows "archive does not contain..." and a bunch of files .img and .sig... currently I'm trying to re download the file from the link and redoing the whole process again, if anyone has a solution, please let me know ASAP. Edit 1: [SOLVED]The problem was that my phone would stop getting recognized by my PC after starting the ‘ fastboot update “” ‘ command. The fix I found was regarding ‘ fastboot devices ‘ not detecting my phone and my phone drivers (despite having installed the official OP7T usb drivers)

Try and see if installing the latest drivers and most recent copy of Platform Tools helps at all

@@FilthyCasualTech Hi, in the end I could solve my problem, I forgot to edit the comment. The problem was that in the middle of the process of installing the ROM, the phone would reboot and loose connection with my computer, the driver would totally fail and stop recognizing the phone while on the fastboot screen. I found a fix regarding universal USB drivers. Thanks a lot for the tutorial, after all, it was quick and easy to follow and do. Thanks to you I’m looking forward to more custom ROMS.

@@aapicks732 hey, I think I'm having the same issue but I'm confused at what you mean by universal USB drivers. Do you mean installing something other than the oneplus drivers for the phone?

@@juanmalone9256 I saw it get used on another video, it was not oneplus specific, but it worked. When in the ADB process, the phone stops being recognized as the model and it only needs something along the lines like "...android adb..."

@@FilthyCasualTech oh thanks man. Yeah. I wound up flashing that Pixel experience and wow. Ran so good. However yeah the apns we're not working. Something probably with XML needing some additional lines or replacing. I went ahead and flashed TMobile MSM tool the. Unlocked boot then flashed global. Staying on 10 as it runs better for me until I can find a rom that has the needed apn XML updated files. Thanks man.

Flamingo is my current favourite It's been good, you may still come across a bug as things change a lot, but you'll often find similar bugs in OxygenOS too
