Here’s some context/info regarding the songs you listened to today: Don’t worry, the instruments in Rain To Be (RTB) were all broken already or were prop versions of their actual instruments! And for the MV nothing was plugged in (I was also very concerned at first lmao). This song was by Kanghyun (the guitarist), written bcs it *always* rains whenever the 5 of them have a schedule (the Korean title translates to “Boy Who Brings The Rain”!) Ring On My Ears (ROME for short) *is* the bassist’s song! You’ll see that each Onewe member writes their songs in a very distinctive way since they have different styles (and CyA will typically be all over the credits of Onewe’s songs bcs he always writes his raps himself). Your interpretation is pretty spot on as well - it’s about the thrill he gets when he’s performing music and his earrings hit his cheeks bcs he’s head banging so hard 😂 CyA is typically the one in Onewe who creates those heavier rock-ish songs. Trauma is also by CyA, and is about his trauma of water after almost drowning when he was a kid using the metaphor of a toxic relationship. He still doesn’t like going into places that are too deep, so filming RTB was a big challenge for him, but he managed to do it! So proud of him! Logo is a song written for fans (our fandom name is Weve!) so the lyrics hit really hard. The main vocalist (Yonghoon) made this song, but the drummer Harin and pianist Dongmyeong also took part in the lyric writing process! I don't know if it's the same for everyone, but when I listen to them I start to get a lot emotional, like very happy or very sad depending on the song.. they always deliver it!

Just a little fact: Cya wrote the song Trauma (Aquarium) about his fear of water. He had a near-drowning experience when he was little and it left him scared of water. Hi thank you for the ONEWE marathon! 1. I think why Rain to Be is so special coz it's basically a fan song. Kanghyun wrote it coz it always rain when they have schedule. So it's like they're meeting their fans in the rain all the time. 2. Yes, Ring On My Ear is a CyA (pronounced "Key-a") song! The song is about how much they enjoy performing on stage. However, Kanghyun doesn't really sing in here lol he's kinda mouthing the chorus. 3. Please check out TRAUMA English version too! They changed the vocalization, the song just sounds even better🔥🔥 although the lyrics might not work as well as the Korean version. This is also a CyA song and yes it kind of based off his trauma of almost drowning in the water as a kid. This is probably my 2nd favourite off the English album. 4. LOGO is a Yonghoon song, this guy also wrote GRAVITY, and most other ballads they released. So you see he's a very versatile singer as well as songwriter. Although 2 of them is still in military we've been warned they'll keep things coming lolll I hope you're subscribing to their channel so you won't miss anything!

everything they put out is very personal, there’s not really a track i can think of that doesn’t have an actual meaning behind. they make all of their tracks from scratch so it always kinda hits different especially after seeing them explain the process and stuff. i was so attracted to that when i first found them, and the fact that you can really feel who out of the main writers (cya the bassist, yonghoon main vocalist and kanghyun guitarist) wrote what after you get to know them a little better is so nice. i can’t really describe how amazing it is to be a fan of them, it feels like we’re personal friends and i’m not even being delulu lol ring on my ears was my first introduction to them and i was sold the second they started going super hard, they vibes are immaculate and i’m so glad you’re enjoying them so much

Their music is just so beautifully crafted that even when it's a style I wouldn't normally go for, I still find myself falling in love with it. I'm so happy to see that you're appreciating their music, and it seems like even with the songs that are less your personal taste, you still recognize their talent. I really loved your reaction to the lyrics of Ring On My Ears and TRAUMA, I was so impressed by how accurately you grasped them! The bassist/rapper (CyA) did indeed write both of those songs; Ring On My Ears is about his love of performing, expressed through those snapshot moments you mentioned, and TRAUMA (Aquarium) is both literal and metaphorical-CyA did have a near-drowning experience as a child, I think, and so remains scared of water, but the lyrics also use it as a metaphor for a painful end to a relationship. And it's totally understandable that you would bias the guitarist (Kanghyun), his skills are insane!!! I often find myself in awe of how well the guitar solos that he creates fit and even heighten the overall mood of each song.

I love some Ring on My Ears appreciation! I laughed at your reaction (10:06) to Kanghyun backing vocal😂. He doesn't sing with his voice, but he certainly sing with his guitar. Also thank you for noticing the great drumming that Harin does. Rain to be is one of their best performing TT, probably because it leans toward a more pop sound. I don't know if it's the way the track was produced, I feel the drum sounds are muffled in the chorus...I almost prefer the acoustic version. If you want to hear the instrumentists more I highly suggest you the BGM series form Kanghyung. At this point he almost rearranged every onewe song on accoustic guitar and it’s just so great for back groung music. At first, it was a tradition for him to play that while doing reading vlives (yup he is the biggest bookworm 😊). He also made special videos for his birthday, and that includes special electric guitar pieces that he composed !!! For real his talent has no limit !! He makes videos where he plays with his eyes closed of with increasing the speed of the bpm… Tbh if I had his level of guitar I would flex in all the possible ways too. Anddd he plays drums in some video too bc somehow slaying the guitar wasn’t enough ??? Harin taught him and you can watch the whole process too !! There's something so incredibly energizing and addicting and passionate about ring on my ears, it's one of my favorite tracks ever from them. The lyrics, the sound of it, it's so engaging it makes me want to *be there* and share these emotions with them from the audience. It's an intense sounding love letter for that moment of performing in front of us, when their passion, their love, their hard work and them and us are all there giving each other that energy. of course it's how I see it with my own interpretation and feelings regarding the song this comment was mostly me melting over ROME but I'd like to state Trauma gives me chills it's insane

Ring on my Ears is still one of my favorites, if you can have favorites with ONEWE. I can't even tell you what it is about it. I totally get you about listening to an album with just Kanghyun and Harin. Honestly, I have not paid attention to a drummer as much as I do Harin in a long, long time and Kanghyun should be world famous.

Rain To Be is the song that introduced me to Onewe! I love it so much. It always felt like the song was running out of time and the music video matches that feeling so well. I love all their albums but Planet Nine: Alter Ego and Planet Nine: Voyager were my favorite albums of 2021 and 2022. Can you believe that at least 5 of these songs are B-sides?! I don't ever skip a song on their albums. So I bought the album, cause I love them and usually I only like the version I first heard a song (so if Japanese and then they do a Korean version, or vice versa, I will stick to the original) but listening to the all English versions several times, I can get into them. There are some odd phrasing or pronunciations but personally I thought they did a great job and the English version of Trauma was great. Please don't stop with Onewe after this album listen, they are crazy talented.
