I appreciate your brutal honesty. I’ve done a significant amount of trail riding on my XR but now i’m doing street riding since i live in a downtown area. there’s trails outside of town so i’ve been on the fence about getting a GT or building out a second XR to go hit the trails again. you’ve pretty much convinced me to go with the GT with all your recent videos.

Xr is a far better board imo. I ride with guys with gt and they are always slower on trails and less able to handle tech sections. If you ever kill your xr get a vesc chip and surfdado github profile .. then you can add any battery.. xr with a chi or jw is a better board in every way and does not overheat .. ive got over 20,000km exp on these..

Nearing 300 miles on my GT. I'm came from an XR and I totally agree that you have to baby the XR and that it's momentum driven. I weigh 200 lbs and always felt the need to ride super conservatively. This is not the case with the GT. I can finally push onto the front footpad with confidence. My riding stance has actually changed and I feel more in control. I've been completely happy upgrading from XR to GT.

just hit 600 miles on the gt, i had an original pint before, and oh my god. i got 600 miles over 2 years on the pint lol. the extra speed and mainly the extra battery time has literally changed my life. i can now go to school, go around town during my free period and lunch, and go home with 25% battery to spare. it’s amazing. i haven’t done any trail riding, because i’m not that great at riding off-road yet, and i started riding the pint with no prior skateboard or snowboarding experience. but man, the gt is worth it.

Just passed mile 723. 62 days in a row. 62 days since my GT landed and destroyed my boredom. Having never ridden an XR, or a pint, or really any type of board I decided to keep the pressure on the stock tire at 25psi because that’s what FM shipped it to me. Since I only ride roads, I prefer it that high. I carve like a boss, and I like going fast. I dropped it to 16psi on Saturday and it felt sooooo sluggish and I hated it. So I might be the only one in the world that loves the high psi and rounded stock tire. It has been a solid board. Always connects to the app, and rides like a dream. I do notice it getting hot, and holding the heat well after I end my ride. So I can see this being a potential issue in those hot days late in summer. So then I only ride 5-10 miles that day, instead of a full battery. Man, I love this thing.

I agree and also ride my Treaded GT @25psi. All these folks riding it lower than 15 are crazy (unless you're under 100lbs maybe) and are surely not getting the best experience from their boards. I weigh 215, If I go any lower than 18psi, it feels sluggish accelerating and far less nimble turning. I was already riding my Vega (1400mi)and whisper(600mi) on my old plus in the 21-25psi range.

I never owned a one wheel before... Bought the GT strictly with the intention of having something that would fit in the passenger side floor of my tractor trailer truck for transportation when parked for days. To me it made no sense to go with any of the previous models. As products are refined over time the latest model, the most powerful, the best range was hands down the GT! That being said I only have 33 miles on mine so far and I have no regrets in choosing the GT and I don't think I ever will! Loving it!!!

First off, congrats on breaking the top five on the leaderboards 🤙🎉 let's goooooo As far as the GT goes, I've had mine since April. I've got about 500 miles on it, mostly street. My only complaints are with the tire-I have the treaded-and the hardness of the foot pads. The tire is very hard and bouncy but more than that I don't feel comfortable when I'm turning, especially on trails. I feel like it's gonna slide out from under me. I'll have to try adjusting my foot placement per your suggestion and see if that feels more stable. The foot pads thing is easily solvable with third-party, so that's a non-issue. Honestly I'm right there with you. I love love love my GT. I came from putting about 2500 miles on my Pint (quart) before upgrading to the GT and holy hell I friggin love it. I'm not a fast rider (current top speed on my GT is 19.2) and I love being able to ride as hard/fast as I want with really no fear of a nosedive. It's fantastic 🤙 GT all the way.

I've got about 500 miles on my GT and I love the thing! Have had no issues with ghosting except when the footpad got some crap on it and had to clean it off. 100% fine after that. At first I babied it, but now I pretty much only ride it and not my XR's, and have taken it on the gnarliest trails and drops my skill level can handle! Out of the box it's such an improvement, and it's a lot sturdier. I've even gotten used to the stock treaded tire after breaking it in and riding with a lower PSI, but I can't wait to get the enduro for it and hopefully some bang's. VESC looks cool, but I tried the CBXR and it fried my BMS on my XR, so that permanently burned me on internal mods.

I can't be getting all pumped to get my GT out and try a wide stance. I have to sleep man. I need to rest. I am gonna do that stuff. Later. Right now I'm going to ride in the dark. Thanks, Jeff. Thanks.

Ok, well that was...dark. It did feel super weird with my feet at either end of the board. It felt like a crazy Karate stance. Like I was a ninja riding a bull. Your center of gravity is lower, so it feels more stable. Strange, different, but stable. BUT I didn't feel like I had as much control yet. It was harder to accelerate and turn since your foot has to move farther up and down and side to side. I'm sure with practice you'd get used to this new school stance and it'll probably pay off. Soon enough all we'll be thinking about is how to get the board going fast enough to hear the beeeeeeeeeeep. Cause if you don't hear the beep...

@@josephbarker7933 ok so I failed to mention I move my feet all over the place in different situations(turns, uphills,downhills, this stance is perfect for most going thru chunk, grassy fields, any sort of level off-road. Ok I pumped up the psi from 10 to 22 and went for a 15 mile ride on mixed terrain. I used a wide stance almost exclusively and I'm getting used to it. It puts my legs in a new angle so it's a great workout. My legs are pumped. I realized I was already moving my back foot around a lot as I rode (as you mentioned). But the more I ride with a wide stance the more comfortable it feels, at least with the back foot. Curb/root hops, nudges, and tight turns... narrower stance still felt most natural. Great stuff, man. You are inspiring and pushing this sport forward. Thanks.

Great video Jeff 💪🏼 Even though my GT had a motor issue 150 miles in and started clicking, it is by far my favorite AND best onewheel you can buy at this point. My big 2 issues are the TIRE (which thankfully I have GT enduro on order so that’ll be fixed) and OVERHEATING. I live in Charleston SC and the heat index was a humid 111 degrees the other day. Absolutely terrible out. Took the GT down some gnarly off-road trails then hit this absolutely wild pump track with some huge onewheel jumps, inclines, and berms. It was already warm from the trails but the pump track is the most extreme torture test I’ve ever seen on the GT. It will skyrocket your temps up to 170 after just one all out lap or two. Very curious if the lightning rails I have on order will help with overheating so quickly. I have a good feeling that the statorade and stripped rails are keeping you riding for longer than you think!!

Yeah my 6-year-old and my two eight year olds try riding the GT but it's too bulky for them. I'm going to have to dish out the money for a Pintx.... I 100% agree with you on that. Also, the safety beap could be louder as well. When the winds blowing in my ears and I'm booking it, I can't hear that beep bro! Also, the concave/hard plastic makes my front foot go numb... But that's it for complaints from me! I'm 200 lb 6 ft 1, the GT Powers me up hills, through trails, etc... I feel so good and protected on it, I love it!!!

@meuconmyeuc1337

It would seem your overheating issue has to do with Future Motion's design change of the rails. Instead of anodized aluminium, which acts as a further heat sink to cool the motor, the GT and Pint now use powder coated aluminium (giving it that not-made-in-my-garage look). Powder coating acts as a thermal barrier and thus no longer allows further heat dissipation through the rails; causing overheating as opposed to the XR (which was also underpowered). Anywho, I use electric unicycles to get around town. I just can't justify spending the same amount of money on a GT as an EUC that can go 70 miles on a charge and do so going 30 mph. Perjhaps once I've owned all of the EUCs that I want will I try a OneWheel, but I want to mod it myself and according to Future Motion, if I try to do a battery swap, my board is bricked. THAT IS ILLEGAL!!! FM continues to do it anyway and I just can't support that practice. The FTC has even told them that is illegal and they just don't care. As much as I prefer Mad it the USA over China, I'll take an EUC over a OneWheel any day of the week.

I think I’ve had more problems than anyone else with my GT‘s, and I’m still a fan. I am trying small customizations to make it more comfortable, but I can’t wait for that Enduro tire! If Future Motion will make different shaped foot pad options for us (both front and back, no sharp edges), I think that will go a long way in rider comfort and confidence. The overheating has been a serious issue for me, as I am one of many who destroyed a motor from riding trails too hard, causing the stator to start coming apart. I am liking the GTR conversion much better than the stock rim and tire, but it comes with a lot of risk many people (understandably) don’t want to take on. I am still faster on trail segments using my tail rail XR‘s, but if I keep chasing you that might change 🤙🏻

Just converted my GT to GTXR and it's WORLDS apart in trail performance. Still want to solve the tippy feeling that I can't shake. Took several nasty spills with stock tire just running over off-camber obstacles and it's been hard to trust the board not to tip. Is the stock treaded tire good enough to do all around riding and some light trails? Or do I save up and wait for the Enduro? Thx Jeff!! PS I have the GT on order.

Thx you for watching dude ! Welcome to the club 💪💪💪 learn on treaded. On trails ride that tire around 10-12!depending on weight …how much do you weigh ? At some point switch to enduro when you can nab it 🤙🤙🤙

Do you prefer the GT with the stock 6.5 hub or your GTR? (for cruising on and off trails, not necessarily for best time)
@jeffadairshreds
@jeffadairshreds 2 жыл бұрын
just stick with GT with stock hub and enduro tire all day so you can get good at what’s here and not what’s in past. However I still may play around with gtr and trail pro over the next couple Months. I’m loving the stock setup with enduro tho. She is a soft tire and it can go right over chunk. Lack of sidewall hasn’t been a issue for me

im short and love the GT - the pint is cool if you live in the city and want to just use it to commute. If you want to shred trails GT all day everyday
