Күн бұрынUPDATE! (written July 2024) A lot has changed since the release of this video. You can now repair your board on your own with parts and guides being made available directly from the onewheel store. This is to comply with a new California right to repair law.
I also haven't seen anybody report issues of ghosting, so I'd consider that problem solved. I've been very happy with my board and I can still recommend people buy it.
They have also changed the default treaded tire to the performance treadded. I haven't tried it personally but it looks like they addressed people's complaints with the original tire by making it with a softer compound and thinner sidewalls to make it ride better.
The GT Series is also now out with more speed and torque with the sacrifice of range. I haven't tested it, but that would likely be a great option for people who want the best possible performance.

Wow,.. some of these comments seem a little harsh.... probably scare me away from Onewheels if I didn't already own one. I had never ridden any kind if skateboard before... because I never cared to. However when my wife surprised me with the new GT for my 70th Birthday last November I couldn't say no... I wobbled around, jumping off several times for about 20 minutes and finally found a good stance so I started down the driveway to the street. It's been two months now and I've completely fallen in love with my OW GT! I ride it through the Mall, down streets and sidewalks every chance I get!... but lately here in Northern California we been getting lots of Rain & Snow and I haven't ridden it in over a week!! Still, I have to say this thing is some kind of Machine!!... Being old and retired I had been feeling pretty bummed about not being out and about much nowadays... but my GT has changed all that! Cruising around on my board isn't just fun to do, it's a different kind of Freedom!... like when I got my very first motorcycle way back when I was young... and I haven't experienced a single issue mentioned in some of the above comments! I figured out real quick not to try to go so darn fast!... crashed on that first day. I was wearing Wrist Guards so I didn't get a scratch... (knock on wood) and afterwards increased riding speed only after I became more familiar with it and got better at making quicker turns! I plan to keep floating down streets and alleyways for as long as my health permits me to... Who knows! I could still be Onewheeling on my 80th Birthday!! Wouldn't that be a gas!! 👍😎👍

Thanks for being objective. And people trust me as an XR owner you will one way or another need repair work and once you pay for that first shipping and you realize that there's a repair shop in your city that does better repair work then future motion and can provide you with more solutions than future motion. Don't buy a GT and let future motion run rough shot over the community. We deserve better, you deserve better.

I purchased the GT last December. The GT wasn't even in production yet, and I had never even seen a OneWheel...I purchased a Pint X to hold me over until the GT shipped. Two of the best impulse buys of my life...... I wake up each morning ready to head out with my OneWheel and seek out the next exciting trail, or pathway to happiness!

Keep the front sensor clean! Detecting your feet is not an improvement from the XR but I prefer a skid stop as long as the board doesn't take off on you like a wild dog.

Same here. 2 weeks tomorrow on my GT and I've put in 100 miles. Taken 2 decent falls on trails, minor shoulder injury but overall feeling good and board is performing spectacular!

Great video! I have had my GT for almost 2 mo. Hit 317 miles tonight, trouble free.. I’m getting stronger and more confident every day, it’s my 1st OneWheel ,still have a long way to go to get to the end of what this board can do.. Best toy ever!!

GT is my first onewheel. I got it in June after moste of the drama and it has been awsome. It definitely gets 30 miles of range. It is very powerful, it goes up crazy hills and thick grass. Much more comfortable on roads than my E skateboards. Ofcourse if i actually wanted speed then i would get a scooter or a bike. The onewheel does exactly what i want it to do, and my mountain bike is a lot more expensive.

Really good video, I've had the GT for a couple of months now and I'm lucky that mine works flawlessly, so so happy with my purchase. Tried to force it to ghost didn't work, just took it apart recently to badger it but found it to already be waterproof (or waterproof as it can get) - I've been really lucky with my board. But the anti rights to repair is really bad and troublesome, hope I won't need it, since I live in Europe or FM hurries up and change their mind.

Yeah they have stated that their first priority for their repair network is to open a repair center in the EU. Who knows how long that will take though.

Hey great video, loved the honest feedback of these awesome boards. I’ve been thinking about a one wheel since I’ve snowboarded my whole life. I do ride an EUC, for the past 3 years, as a car replacement. My wheel can go 50mph and I can get a 100 miles of range on it. Got speakers, a usb charger, headlights, running lights, etc like a car. My wheel the monster pro is $3500 but I do think it’s worth it for the money saved on gas, insurance, and registration (and for the damn fun of it) but I just can’t justify spending $2000 on a one wheel that is lower in specs then a small EUC that costs $1000-1400. One day when I’m rolling in the doe I’ll end up getting a one wheel cuz I love all PEV stuff but for now EUCs, Hoover shoes, and scooters are the way for me. And again great video man

EUCs have better specs, but the one wheel is like surfing/snowboarding. Get a pint and just enjoy to local stores, or get GT just to ride the beach or some trails. Your EUC is still there for long distances :)

What area do you live in? I feel like EUCs are sort of "unaccepted" a lot of places, particularly in the US. People don't want them on bike trails which I think is understandable given they can hit well over 30mph (most bike or multi-use paths have a 15 or 20mph speed limit). They're not really accepted on normal streets either. Onewheel and electric mountain/skate boards I find are generally more accepted on bike paths. I've had a Pint X for a little over a year and a half and been consider whether I want to get an EUC or a Onewheel GT and it's hard for me to think where I could ride an EUC, where my Onewheel I'll go anywhere bikes are allowed. The off road and going up and down stairs, jumps and overall capabilities of EUCs are super appealing, but I can think of many places to use one near me.

I purchased TWO One Wheel GT’s for Xmas gifts for our two sons, they are 20 and 24 years old and while I know how much they are going to enjoy them, I personally can not wait to try one our myself as does my Wife!!!!! I didn’t tell my Wife that I ordered them for the boys for Xmas and I ended up telling her today and showing her a few videos!!! She is super excited to see their faces when they open them up!!!!! And when they try them the first time! Unfortunately it’s supposed to be 11 degrees (Fahrenheit) on Xmas day and icy so I don’t know how much they will get to try them out, we might go to my office and let them do their first rides in my building! Heat and plenty of room!! But I’m so excited to give them to them, whatever we spend on Xmas we also donate that same $$ amount to a charity that means the most to us so it feels good either way! Thanks for the great info in the video! Speaking of potential theft, I am purchasing a Personal Articles Policy from our Ins Co on both boards so if they are stolen then our ins co will cut us a check for the full replacement! It cost a little over $100 a year for $6000 of coverage so for anyone interested in this, contact your ins co and ask for a Personal Articles Policy! Or up your homeowners ins to cover them as well!!!!

@@jonislow OMG, not sure who likes them more…me or the boys! They ride them often, both are away at the same school and the youngest has to live on campus his first year but has off campus parking so when he comes home for the weekend, often, when he goes back to school he unloads his laundry/stuff then goes to the parking lot and rides his OW back! Both of them get together often and ride which makes my wife and I happy.

I clocked in 100 miles on my one wheel yesterday. I can say I haven't had ghosting happen once and the board has been riding great. One thing I've noticed tho is when I slow down to a stop and use the heel lift method to stop the one wheel, about 30 percent of the time the board will roll in reverse with me on it and my heel raised and I have to jump off it. Either its so sensitive that when I raise my heel it still detects it or I really I mean REALLY gotta raise my heel.

Try slow down to more of a stop before jumping off. It needs to know your slowing down to stop and not to reverse

I love the extra power of the GT for accelerating and hauling ass uphill and for easily maintaining 20mph without worrying about going over the front. Unfortunately it keeps malfunctioning and I have sent it back 3 times already because if I stumble off of it while trying tricks it takes off backwards and slams into whatever is behind it at nearly 30mph! I'm not sure why I even send it back at this point because it just keeps doing the same thing and I'm afraid for the safety of anyone around me when I ride it

Curious if you were to put a capacitor in between the battery and the connector if you could then replace the battery since it would be hold a current, I know nothing about how that stuff works but it’s something I thought of.

Some stuff I've heard going around is that the tire quality isn't what it was, I know the vega tire on the XR wasn't amazing, but it was decent enough for what you paid. Additionally, I caught wind of some issues relating to heat management due to a change in production material. And personally, I think the change from wooden plates to the plastic that it looks to be made from now, was a mistake.

I had to send my original pint back right out of the box which sucked right at the start of summer when I got it, if live to get one of the newer boards though, I love my pint battery and range and speed got old fast though but I still use it like a surf board on step grassy hills with the slick tire so I'd live to kick that experience up a little

I thought 1400 was a lot for the pint x.. it was worth it.2500$ for the gt is alot. I get 20 actual miles on the pint x on pavement. I see no need for a gt upgrade.. trails in in rockslvania aren't great on either. But fireroads are great

I’m 43. I purchased the GT bundle. Absolutely worth it to me. I needed something to motivate my fat a** off the couch. This thing is so much fun! I can go really slow or turn it up to 21mpr, which for me is plenty fast. I ride mine more on trails than concrete. I’m old and don’t want to brake. Of this one died on me I’ll be buying a new one asap!

I really haven’t seen many cases of future motion not repairing the GT or voiding somebody’s warranty. If you have a problem, they will fix it, usually by just replacing parts or the board in extreme cases.

@@TannerFugal Problem is, it’s a vehicle with wearable parts like: tires, skid plates, lights, batteries, motors, controller. All these should be user replaceable not have pay shipping and wait weeks for simple repair” this is not a cell phone it is motorized transportation and should be treated as such”

Thank you for the video, was just about to order one but can't support a company that won't allow owners to make their own repairs. Who wants to wait weeks to months for service repairs, never had any luck sending something in for repairs. Normally comes back still not working correctly, then pay for it to be sent out again.

This is the review I was looking for. I mean...I already bought the GT now...but I feel better about it and would have appreciated this justification earlier. Good work. To the point and researched without the extra filler. I like that filler...but this is great with it's place too. Almost more so at this point. I will report the battery thing. I understand where they are coming from, but I think there is a better happy medium for consumers here.

Totally agree about how hard they've been against stopping people from making mods and replacing parts. As someone who lives in Australia, the idea of sending the board off to the other side of the world to get a battery replaced is rough as (being an electrician myself, it rubs salt in the wound that I'd pay so much to replace a battery). Lording over having a monopoly isn't a healthy thing for a company to do to their customers, and they seem to be strongly gripping on this from their attack on mods and legal battle against Floatwheel. I'm glad they dealt with the ghosting but it seemed it was around for a decent amount of time, while when KingSong had a video come out about their product catching on fire they got straight onto having the bug fixed within a week. It's a great item, just not an ethical company towards its customers and competition.

To be fair on the battery issue, most lithium batteries get 1000-2000 charge cycle life which would equate to 25,000-50,000 miles

You don’t need to anymore. About a month ago they added the tires for sale on their website so you can do it yourself.

Yeah I'm considering doing an update video. I've loved my GT. I may have been a bit harsh about some things in this review. A lot has changed since then. No ghosting. Parts are now available and you can fix most things on the board yourself now. Price Dropped. It's a great time to get a Onewheel.

I prefer the XR, but that's just me. I ride my XR daily. Been on the GT with an enduro tire plenty of times.. but it just doesn't feel right. Could be the footpads, or just the bulkiness of the board itself. My XR feels light and nimble

i'm with you, plus you can fix it yourself or ask someone n a EV shop to fix it, without spending the cost of a small condo in town on shipping and overpriced spareparts.

I wish the beep alarm went off at 20mph not 19. I hope FM updates that in a future patch. LOVE my GT!

Pushback is at 19.5 it really won’t make a difference at only half a mph

@@Tactical_Taco to me it does lol, id rather it beep at the 20 mph limit not before. I like to carve at 19 and don't want to hear the beep constantly, but like the beep to know how fast I'm going.

The beep goes off when the motor is about to give out not because of the speed.🤔 Run the battery low and you will get a beep at 2 mph

@@surenot6423 your statement is only partially true... I can ride the beep into the mid 20's mph. it ain't giving out at 19.5. ... but yes, push it hard at 2 miles an hour and youll get a beep too, which has nothing to do with cruishing at 19 and getting a constant beep.

firmeware update #1 seamed to fix the tail drag issue, and then the newest firmware update last week brought it back it seams. oh man i had a sensor issue today i contacted support to see if under warrentee

@@TannerFugal can you point me to where they mad any announcements about the updates? i saw an official youtube video on the first one, then somthing on the FM IG, and even notes in the app update history, like days after it was released, and its delayed my improved riding experience. then i see the new 2nd update (last week) after opening app after days of hearing rumor's about it, yet nothing on their official pages, i trust the update since the last one was definatley an improvment, then i update and seamed to be a step back. but the latest i only heard third party about update details and a friend was convinced the "fixed flow" (which they claimed they did on the first update, so people are already confused their werent touching flow this time), but dang i seam to be tail dragging back, not as bad as it origianlly was, but bad enough its like wow i hope the fix this because i wanted to get another GT to replace my 5 y old sons pintx, the sensors are just glitch-city on the pintx, yet the GT a pair of sunglasses could trigger sensors

All batteries will fade over time. But you can extend the life of the cells by taking good care of them. Lots of videos on that topic.

59 seconds into the video, it recommends to save the box to ship the GT back to FM… Luckily I saved the box of my XR. Love my PEVs, take turns riding the Ninebot MAX scooter, both REVEL kits with Waterborne Surfadapters on my longboard & cruiser boards :)

Yeah it’s the unfortunate reality with niche products like this that for most people they will have to ship it somewhere to get it repaired. FM really needs to build a distributed service network, but that will still take years.

Go to a dealer and do a test ride. You can look up dealers on their website. You can’t go wrong with the pintX or GT.

i waited over 100 miles to let air out of the stock tire. Dont. The tire is still trash, but its rideable with lower PSI. Love my GT now.

I think they are thinking about the electrical mods/ wheel mods.. battery mods.. other than that.. I am sure they are fine.

A lot of people talking about the battery unplugging will brick the board, but it seems like a moot point. The battery will take YEARS to wear out. My XR is incredibly healthy and gets full range despite being older. When are you realistically going to swap the battery out? Do you even have the ability or know how to take it apart? There’s people who complain about this who have never picked up a screwdriver. I just don’t really see how it’s a major issue.

If you haven’t yet then you need to try an electric unicycle! I started on the Onewheel+ but the lack of a reasonable range (5-7 miles) I was charging a lot! The mountains i live in rendered the Onewheel useless in most areas off-road. They didn’t have the beep on the + so you were prone to nosedives so the safety was an issue. The sideways stance became uncomfortable after I lost trust in the board because I would keep most of my weight on my back leg and push the front down. The speed was kicked back at 15.2mph so out running a mean dog chasing you down the street might not end well! I moved to EUCs because they do away with every one of those issues and now they have options for suspension. I have the kingsong 16x. Great ride but no suspension. Got it in 2019 and it changed the game. The specs are 31mph top speed, 70-90 miles of range, 2,200 watt motor, 16x3 tire. It had a natural forward facing stance so you can easily bail when needed. I do a ton of off-roading for my rides because of where I live. I ride mountain bike trails on it and eat the stuff that would stop the Onewheel. Steep banks, large rocks and roots, and most of all I can spend all day long on those trails without having to charge. The one area I’ve found that the Onewheel can easily outperform it is in the sand! The wide tire on the Onewheel just does better in sand. More options for euc’s and most riders order their replacement parts and fix it themselves.

EUCs are cool but have zero of the fun factor of a OneWheel. And even though I couldn’t care less, they are one of the NERDIEST looking things out there. The two PEVs have completely different goals, so getting one over the other says more about a person not understanding what they want more than anything else.

@@BlownMacTruck it's interesting you mention looks, onewheel kinda looks like a skateboard this is why it's less new and therefore registers as less dorky for you. I think I look cool AF going 60kph on the street and taking over cars but whatever, it's more than a fun factor I actually feel like I have superspeed power and I'm just flying to my destination. Going anywhere in my town used to be a big deal for me I would spend 40min on a bus or get stuck in traffic in a taxi, now I'm just lane splitting pass everyone. Anyway onewheel and EUC are compared because they are more or less in the same size category, both have a single self-balancing wheel so I can't really say it's a different thing at all, onewheel is a sideways EUC I guess. And it has this wide tire, I get that it's good for low-speed riding, ninebot z10 actually kinda close in the type of ride onewheelers are used to. I don't have an issue with onewheel in principle, it's just that FM is stuck in the past making the same 2015 onewheel, did you know that wren from corridor plans to make a vid on the open-source onewheel alternative? This is how bad it gets for FM. At the same time, EUC is now basically a motorcycle replacement, and that's both enduro and cruiser bikes in a single device. It's possible to do the same sideways, FM just doesn't.

thanks for this video, companies not letting you do a simple task as replace a battery and claim it is for safety are nobody I want to help build their business. One wheel is not for me.

I couldn’t justify this purchase because what if I want to ride it for 15 years and see how many miles I can pack on it but I can’t repair it so if they discontinue it then it’s worthless. So I just got the pint x. I started on a used pint I got for 250 and I put 4900 miles on it and sold it for 500 😂 I wouldn’t call one wheeling a sport lol electric scooters go faster is that a sport as well?
