In this video we're looking at the pros and cons of the onewheel pint x. The onewheel pint x is our second attempt at an electric skateboard of sorts. We settled on the onewheel pint x after future motion upgrade the onewheel pint to the onewheel pint x giving the pint a larger battery and higher top speed and we were sold on the onewheel pint x.

The Onewheel Pint X is a climbing machine and very nimble. Unlike a skateboard, scooter, or electric skateboard. The Onewheel will navigate through gravel, small rocks, sticks, grass etc.....I'm 54 years old and have put just over 400 miles on my Pint X. A life changing experience, I wake up seeking a new trail, or country road to explore and shred! The price is nominal for the experience the Onewheel provides!

@@BreakItYourself - most will say the Pint X was made for urban riders, cruising around cities, small communities etc....The majority of my riding has been on fire roads and various mountain biking trails. With a little over 6 weeks of owning this thing. I've beaten the hell out of the bumpers and guard rails. I feel once I get the GT, I'll have to switch out the bumpers and guard rails and use it for riding around town, parks etc....Looking at my Pint X it would be difficult to believe it has over 600 miles on it, if you can believe it? This Monday I'm heading to Santa Cruz to try out some of the trails up that way! I hope a company comes out with a float plate for the Pint X soon....I definitely need one!

Damn bro, you got me so good! I felt my dad anger welling up. I was like, no freaking way he just jumped on that board with a baby, and then filmed himself almost wiping out! Great video btw. Would also recommend wrist guards at a minimum. Personally I think knee/elbow pads are overkill, but those wrist guards will save your hands and wrists when that fall comes unexpectedly. Get that first fall out of the way, then you're good. You'll respect the board more and will be paying attention 100% all the time. Also, off-road riding will come with time and confidence in the board. I ride my pint on rough/smooth trails all the time with the stock tire. Once you do, you'll never want to go back to just riding pavement. Ride on and be safe!

The Pint X is my first Onewheel as well. I got it 3 days ago and accidently hit 20mph. It's extremely fun, but you are correct when you say it can be very scary. Anytime I hit 16mph or higher I have a huge fear of nosediving stuck in my head. I think I'll purchase those front fangs like you mentioned. Great review. I agree with everything you said.

I did 19.9 on my pint x in front of my house and accidentally nose dived. Gnarley concussion and almost broke my jaw. Bruised my temple, my eye, my cheek bone, my jaw bone. Was wearing a helmet too. And on flat straight pavement. I retraced my steps and there was no rocks at all so I think the pushback pushed too hard and it flung me forward with no reaction time.. I was respectful of the feel the of the board too but it still fucked me up regardless of a clean road. Definitely wear a helmet and don't push the speeds even if it feels right.. ugh. For the 1400 bucks I feel like it's a rip off, can find dope e bikes for 800 in my area haha.. cmon now future motion! No need to be greedy!

Tks for keeping it real. I felt like I was the only one that had a hard time catching on. I also took a bad fall and ended up with 10 stitches on my 4th ride; I had on all the safety gear.. Now I always keep in the back of my mind that, I could fall. When I did get back on it my wife was scared, I was scared, but I took my time. Man I can't stay off this thing. My feet hurt and I still ride.

Excellent video; thanks for posting. I just got a Pint X a few weeks ago. I had a regular Pint before that, however, someone broke into my truck and stole my board. Like you, I'm comfortable with a top speed about 10 to 12 mph. I also fly powered paragliders (PPG) and I have to admit that for me, riding a Onewheel is about as risky. Perhaps even more. Happy floating!

@RatStabberify 2 жыл бұрын
@@BreakItYourself I'm lucky enough to not have had to deal with them, Both my boards are stock. My Onewheel+ is still going strong. I still believe that FM is making a mistake on their R2R stance. As people like me (who can't afford a new $2-3000 device every 4 years) with V1s and Plus models. We can keep them on the roads and trails if FM simply offered repair manuals and parts for their old boards. Think about it, the company itself is still pretty unknown, and a person who is new to board sports wants to try one they're probably going to look for the cheapest option. I got my high mileage Plus for $600 cnd. Yes FM made zero profit from me (both my boards were purchased used), but they're getting exposure, and they'll make more money from me if I can just buy parts and slap them on and keep it going. They'll sell more new boards if they see some dude in a group of gts and pint xs on a plus or V1 because it'll subconsciously tell a new customer "yo these things are reliable. Look how beat up that board with 6000kms on it is". People who can afford one have more options too. Want a GT? Can't afford it? An XR with an extended battery is similar and cheaper. You can mod and upgrade as tech gets better

I have a pint and pint x. Would totally recommend the pint x over the pint unless you really don’t plan on going any real distance. They are also very capable off road and it really isn’t necessary to get a GT for trails though it is superior, the pint and pint x will go practically anywhere. I’d also recommend getting the original pint front bumper so you can swap out the pint x front bumper to gain a 1/2 inch of clearance👍🏼

Very good video. The best way to speed up the learning curb, is to get some elbow and knee pads and wrist guards. They will give you and increase of confidence which will allow you to relax, which in turn will allow you to ride better. And then if you do fall not only are you less likely to get hurt ( at all), you won't be hesitant to get back on because you will feel protected. This worked wonders for me and I am a 58 year old first time rider, and now have over 700 miles on my Pint X. Hope this helps, it really made a huge difference for me, and really fast. Good luck!!

Glad to hear I'm not the only "old" guy getting into this. I'm sharing a Pint X with my son right now and we are learning together. I'm compelled to ride when I have breaks. My problem right now is foot fatigue. I'm hoping my feet and muscles will adjust as I practice and get more comfortable but for now I'm surprised at how quickly my back foot starts hurting. Then again, I've only had this thing for less than a week so I'll keep at it and see how it goes.

I'm 28 and I got my pint a few weeks ago. For never having done any board sports in my life I suprisingly picked it up pretty quickly. I would hate to live anywhere other than Florida because the weather has been perfect for riding in the last few weeks so I have been on it every day. That being said I did have a pretty bad crash the other night when I hit an unseen bump at 12 mph that caused the board to go sideways and my body to continue going forward. I was able to run out a few steps but ultimately ended up on the pavement. Thankfully I was wearing my helmet and wrist guards but still landed on my left side pretty hard. Current can't lift my arm above my shoulder but its getting better every day. I hope you don't have to experience a bad crash but it's always smart to pad up just in case! Great video and hope to see more from you on the topic! Stay safe out there!

I would recommend you get some knee and elbow pads as well as wrist guards. These were so crucial for me when I was learning as they gave me more comfort knowing that if I do take a fall I would be somewhat protected. I would also do some stretches before riding and honestly, go to your back yard, sit down and try to roll forward and backward a couple of times while you are wearing your helmet. Rolling immediately after a fall really helps to reduce the impact. It's a good idea to have a feel of what rolling is like and become more comfortable with it while geared up. Other than that. Enjoy the float it's super addictive 😃

I rode my gt through the rain on the way home from work, I got poured on and had to ride through some unavoidable puddles… I thought nothing was wrong but it then started ghosting on me, multiple times in the last few days, so it is fully functional I just think the water damaged the footpad itself
@KevinFrazer21
@KevinFrazer21 2 жыл бұрын
If you get a port plug, especially for the pint models/GT, they’re very very water resistant out of the box. So long as you just let it dry out before you charge it up again, you shouldn’t have any issues. I’m 900+ miles in on my OG pint and have had no issues with that. I ride in the rain all the time. It’s an electric board so I’m not recommending you do that, but it’s realistically okay to do it so long as you take the right post ride protocol. XRs are less sealed out of the box though. But you can always badger your board if you’re worried about water damage. With board sports, falling/bailing/risk of injury is just the nature of the beast. I always say if you know how to ride, you have know how to bail. (I define bailing as being able to identify a spill about to occur, and intentionally getting off or running it out) I can’t express how important that is in not seriously hurting yourself. Cuz it’s really a skill that has to be developed as well. As a seasoned rider, I don’t really fall much anymore, but I bail frequently, cuz it’s much safer to bail when it gets unstable or squirrelly at times than to try to ride stuff out. Also, to each their own, but Maaan, Onewheels are adventure/stoke machines and are gonna get banged up. They’re built to last and can easily be cleaned u0 with a scrub down with a brush or sand paper (to buff out scratches, smooth or scratches and ridges, and things of that nature), or just get replacement parts like you said. I think compared to a majority of riders, the learning curve is definitely individualized, and I feel like you may have struggled more than most, but the general rule still contends that anyone can ride this board. It was tough for you, but hey, you’re riding it ain’t ya? lol Lastly I just wanted to say that I feel like you saying that the air of danger being a con is kinda harsh lol. Just because it’s just as dangerous as you make it. Driving a car can be very dangerous or really safe depending on your approach. Same thing with OWs. If you’re an adrenaline junkie that loves to push limits, yeah your potential for serious injury skyrockets, but it’s all about learning your board and mitigating the balance between confidence, rider capability, experience, and safety. Respect pushback and you shouldn’t have issues with nosedives at speed. Most serious wipeouts tend to be a product of rider error rather than the board being outright unsafe. I’ve ridden with kids under 8 and adults over 60. Anyone can enjoy this stoke machine and I love that. It’s such an inclusive experience. But my brother in the wheel, FLOAT ON!!! Great video my man.

I love all my electric toys (Onewheels, Dualtron Victor, E-move cruiser, Meepo). Right now, I have the Onewheel Pint X, I’m over 200 pounds and I’ve had this thing over 20 mph. I get a lot of pushback on it which causes me to be hesitant riding it. In part, I’m probably used to the old Onewheel XR which was a litter bigger and more stable. Super portable electric vehicle and I love it over the Meepo because of the silly remote and small wheels that smack on any unsmooth surface. Prefer my scooters but like to Onewheel at times. Bought the fast charger and the fender both were well worth the extra money you spend. No crashes on this one yet but wiped out many times on my older Onewheel XR. Once turned very sharp, board shut off as I was leaning forward to accelerate. Nose dived and almost knocked out my teeth on the pavement. Happened crazy fast and with open face helmet def didn’t help my face. Have fun be safe!

nice vid here, thanks! what's keeping me from getting one is the unmentioned combination of cost *and* anti-consumer behavior by the company. unplug the battery and it bricks your board, even if you connect back the same battery. the tire too is a send back to factory item. it's an otherwise pretty cool product but people and the company both need to understand this rather glaring and sucky planned obsolescence that's built into the product. the battery has a 100% chance of wearing out after a few years of regular use, the tire too. the software in the product is designed to lock up your board if you try and do maintenance on the thing yourself. what if the company goes under? what if they choose to "discontinue" support for your model? I say this is likely because we already know they are maintenance unfriendly. besides the high initial cost, consider that this may be disposable. once something wears out, your only choice may be to get a new one ..or better yet, something else 🤔

after reading this comment i did some research and you seem 100% correct. @Stu81
@Stu81 2 жыл бұрын
There is a right to repair issue but the tire can be changed and it's not hard to do, I swapped my tire straight away for a better 3rd party tire, as for longevity that will depend on its use, there are many used boards for sale well over 1k miles and still hold at lot of value, I missed out on 3 onewheels (XR) on eBay in the UK with over 800 miles that sold for over £900 so depreciation is actually low , there are a few mods that can be done but obviously like anything will void warranty but you can do things to them, I had mine apart (pint X) and removed the battery to cut a section of plastic out to hide a tracker, it never bricked, I've also soldered the sensor so now it is one sensor (if you own one you will know the sensor can be a bit tricky), the main issue is that the company threatens law suites against any 3rd partys selling mods for their products especially when it comes to extended batteries or software mods, at the end of the day the onewheel is the best of its kind out there and it's nothing like a EUC or electric longboard, none of which are cheap anyway, if you are looking for something to commute on then the onewheel isnt the best choice by a long shot but if you just want some fun cruising around and a unique experience then a onewheel is great fun.

One thing I wonder about that's rarely discussed as an old guy (56). I've had Segways, Ninebots, and even a hoverboard. So, I am experienced at riding balancing scooters. I wonder if that helps you adjust to it faster. Another consideration is they say the Pint is more "twitchy" if you will, so I'd consider the larger model just for stability.

1. Confidence should come from understanding the board not from getting faster everyday. You need to learn to feel the board, it will tell you you´re going fast same for low battery and not only with pushback. While you are maxing the board the board gets easier to stomp down, thats first thing you can notice then the board starts feeling way less stable, then the pushback comes and if you still push it you go down. Feel the board at 100%, 80%, 60% and really understand it to feel comfortable and be actually safe. 2. You cant replace everything except for cosmetics. Parts are either from broken out boards or trough FM repair service. 3. Price is super low in US, just look up used market. (Super low compared to other continents) Glad you like your onewheel, keep being safe and float on my friend.

maybe other people disagree, but imo i think you just need to accept that your onewheel is gonna get banged up. my fender is scratched, my rails are scratched, and my bumpers are REALLY scratched. and i dont mind that at all. even if youre careful, at some point youre gonna nosedive, and the exterior of your onewheel is gonna take some damage even if it isnt a bad fall. the onewheel itself is very durable, and whatever you put on it to protect it is gonna get damaged anyway, so visually theres not much difference there. i suppose you could replace the rail and bumper guards every so often, but i just dont think its worth it.

It kind of goes without saying, whenever you ride some type of board you're gonna fall at some point, just be prepared always be safe but you'll be okay

The Pint X has a major design flaw in the battery housing that leads to damaged BMS balancing wires and main battery leads.

Hi! To be a bit more safe on the OW, I suggest you to bend your legs more... so if you nosedive and have to run out your fall, you can "kick yourself off" much more that way. I hope you understand, what I mean. :) After some falls you will be confident to fall, how you kick yourself off, and roll your body on the ground, I guess. Not that scary at all, just take care, you don't fall in front of a car (I mean, avoid risky moves in general, where cars are crossing/ driving by)... :) Have a safe ride, and no baby-riding please! :)))

There are only 2 kinds of riders. Those that have been down and those that are going down. Learned that as a motorcycle rider, the hard way.

If you ride one of these through a rough neighborhood then you’re going to get robbed at gunpoint within 5 seconds because of how expensive they are.

You fall BAD! once. That's my experience anyway. Just don't push past "push back" and you'll be mostly fine. I've flown off my longboard Way more times due to imperfect roads then I ever did on my 1,000+ miles riding the Pint. As you say it's a personal choice. Just don't be a speed demon.

Pretty dumb to strap your baby (sans helmet) onto your body for your first round on a one wheel. Like, the dumbest thing I've seen recently.
