I really like how you are not just a complaining consumer but someone who is thinking about solutions and how to actually apply them. Cheers!

Hi, maybe try attaching 3 prusiks on the ridgeline and attach small carabiners to those to clip onto the windsocks 3 attachment points, that way you can tighten them up by sliding the prusiks taught, but I like your modifications better.

Great review. I'd use shock cord on the ridgeline loop it would act like a shock absorber protecting the loops from tearing. Like the mods you made. Nice job 👍

I'm looking at these for my Grand Trunk Down Evolution hammocks. I figure why not? It looks like it will provide additional protection to the down covers. Nice job on the upgrades. I'll certainly modify mine as well. Thanks!

When you were putting it over top of your hammock you should have unhooked your ridgeline and ran it through under those loops and then reattached it to the other carabiner. But if you don't want to run your Ridgeline through those loops you can do. Like you said in touch, little carabiners to your ridgeline through those loops and that would work just as well. After I finished watching your video to the end, I was totally impressed with the alterations and improvements that you made on it. I was impressed! If I do buy one I would do the same with it.

Yes, that would work too! But now I found that the best is to make separate ridgeline for windsock- can be from paracord but better from shock cord. I made more connection points, put through shock cord with small carabiners on the ends. And that new ridgeline stays all yhe time on windsock. Now it is even possible to use my bugnet when using windsock, it helps to trap more heat inside and helps with falling feozen condensation.

Nice video! Got me thinking about hammock camping. Seems super small and light!

Hey! Thanx for watching! In the end hammock camping is the same weight as tent camping. Sometimes lighter, sometimes even heavier. But packing away is super fast- just stuck all your hammock with all underquilts in a backpack, take straps off and run away.. :) Setting up sometimes is faster than a tent, but sometimes trees are far away and it is harder to adjust everything properly.. angles, tension and so on. I had 5 min set ups and also 40min set ups.. 🤣 But yeah! Hammocks are something special. My favorite. But I love bivi, tents and tarps too..!!

@ImpulseFromWithin I'd love to try it, but I'd like to find a nice lightweight setup at a decent price. I can't really find anything below 200 for just the hammock..But I never deep dove into it either.

@@polesofdestinyhiking Check out Onewind hammocks. Awesome top notch hammocks for really nice price. I got mine for 75 eur and that with straps, adjustable ridgeline and bug net + extra ridgeline sack included. Check out my other Onewind 11ft Zippered Hammock review.

Great solution. Really nice honest review. Do you thinks the windsock is rainproof? Ore you still need a tarp above it?
@ImpulseFromWithin
@ImpulseFromWithin 9 ай бұрын
Thanx! Yeah, you need a tarp over your head!! But this wind sock gives you a super cozy sleep when is windy and you wanna see the stars..!! Also great for winter so you can use just a simple tarp with no closed ends with doors. This sock will create a climate inside and block all wind what is still gets under your not closed tarp set up.. But of course this windsock will keep you ok in some super light and short rain or snow.

Hey! Great video - wondering what the winter boots were that you showed us?
@ImpulseFromWithin

Those are Xero Shoes Alpine barefoot winter boots. I have them for 3 years now, I like them. Only thermal insoles lasted maybe one and half winter. Then need to be replaced with new insloles with feflective bottom. Boots are lightweight, have all barefoot shoe features.

Great video. If you run the ridge-line through the loops at the top of the windsock while you're setting it up that might keep it from rotating. Like you, I also replace all my zippers with paracord. It makes them more silent and makes them easier to grip. If my backpacks don't already have paracord zippers I replace them with paracord as well. That means I completely remove the metal zippers so I use wire cutters to remove the metal zippers. Some just add paracord to the metal zippers but I completely cut the metal zipper handles off and run the paracord through the remaining zipper "eyelet". If the eyelets are too small to run the 550 cord through them I'll use micro cord instead. You make a good suggestion to One Wind and I hope they listen.

had three underquilt protectors std length in camo.. all three came with the plastic fittings attached differently with no instructions or diagrams how your supposed to attach or adjust it .. i now use one as a bigger "hat" for my cloudpeak2 tent lol tones down the green nicely from a distance an better coverage of roof

And the material should be polyester instead of silnylon since silnylon absorbs moisture and rain that polyester dont …

the sewing on onewind and especially the "finishing" tying off ends.. is pathetic... ive tried to discuss with them and i get no where.. have had a couple items replaced and had local seamstress make several repairs (mostly free bless her ) 11ft camo no net is way roomier than my onetigris even after i cut net off it . cant stand em.
