If he apologizes, then they have him and can try him. He just needs to stay the course, and once enough time passes, either his side comes out on top and everything will be swept under the rug, or his side loses, and he can commit suicide via body double. There is an established protocol to these kinda things, you don't rush it.

I feel like the introductory sequence to that Avengers game would have been more impactful if you played as Thor or Ironman the whole time and only met the kid for like 5 seconds, and then later on properly introduced her as a new character once she was more or less an adult.

It's the principle of the matter. Marvel should've waited until after her powers were revealed, and she became Ms Marvel to show that particular loading screen. Even if you know Khan is Ms Marvel, it still spoils the story. It's the journey, not the destination.
