I just paid about $38 US for the latest Creality 4.2.7 board and upgraded my Gen1 Ender 3. They Ender 3 already printed well to begin with, albeit a little slow, but the new board not only silenced the motors almost completely, but improved what I already considered excellent prints. I print in PLA and PLA+ only so I was quite happy with the upgrade. Print in black or gray for shop use and I think it may be the most cost effective for you.
