Bank Fishing A Public Park With Ultralight Gear!

Күн бұрын

I was surprised to stumble on a public park with a small pond while looking at Google Maps in search of new fishing spots. I am the type of angler that is willing to try all spots at least once or twice so I immediately hopped in the car and headed that way. Surprisingly this shallow, little pond paid off and I caught way more fish than I was expecting. Not only that, I was able to trick a handful of solid bass on a micro presentation!
The fish were definitely a bit finicky from the constant people walking by (and likely a lot of angling pressure) but if I could get my jig in front of them and drift and twitch in in their face, they would generally react. It was important that I stayed quiet and stealthy to avoid spooking them first, though. Hence the reason for the quieter audio in many parts of today's video...

Great channel man, you've been helping usher me straight towards the ultralight world as a brand new fisherman. Started on a fly rod this summer but picked up a UL spinning set up to help me learn the waters and fish a bit better alongside my fly casting practice. I've always loved finding the cool little niches in each hobby, and getting into ultralight fishing on tiny secluded pieces of water is totally up my alley 👍

Great tap technique. It's so hard for me to catch fish that I can see but you're too good at it. Btw what braid to leader knots do you use. I love using braid but sometime I have random break without any force. I don't know is it because Spro line is too soft or not but I had some random break between lines. I use yucatan knot because it seems like it easiest to me. FG knot maybe over kill for ultralight fishing? Anyways thank you for great videos and products I love them. My bags and gear are full of stuffs you introduced and they work like a charm.🎣

How I envy this type of pond fishing where you'll get multiple species wanting to bite artificial lures. It feels 95% of this type of shallow ponds in Sweden have 1-2 small pike in them, some shad/roach, maaybe some tiny perch, and nothing else. Light years away from all the bass/sunfish/crappie in coolness.

Maybe old wives' tale...but I always thought the leader was supposed to be lighter/thinner than the main line. 3# nano is around .002in, Yo Zuri leader .009in...maybe with stuff this small it doesn't matter? (sure seems to be casting just fine in the video!) Probably more of a rule for larger stuff like 10# braid to 40# mono leader :)
@FishAnything
@FishAnything Жыл бұрын
Honestly I prefer to do lighter lb test as a leader but you aren't going to find many lines lower in diameter than 3lb Sufix Nanobraid. It is okay to go a bit heavier as long as you aren't upsizing the diameter too terribly much.

Check out my website - it has some articles on how to fish the Mule Jig which will help. Otherwise, I really like to fish it on a tiny Mule Jig (1/80 or 1/64) and drift it ever so slowly in shallow water. The slow rate of fall paired with the tiny profile drives them nuts.
