Smart. Will work on this, but try not to overthink when in a match! That's not so easy, but this is logic, well-explained, and will eliminate error. This is something that can be natural for some players, I can usually feel when I have taken too big of a swing.

I really like the idea of starting with the racquet lower. That helps with imparting some top spin to bring the ball back into court.

Thanks Florian and Ean. Question: if your opponent has a big serve do you really have time to wait for the bounce to initiate your 2-window backswing? To me, if you're returning a big serve, you would need to initiate your backswing/2-window unit turn as soon as you identify if the ball is coming to your forehand or backhand.

your backhand instruction may work for a two handed open stance, but what about a one handed? very hard to hit an open stance one handed

look at tsitsipas or shapovalov, that's exactly what they do
