+Omer Tsror Well not really since a knife has a handle attached for the specific purpose of being able to wield it without coming in contact with the blade. Unless he can somehow levitate the flames very close to his body but wihout actually coming in contact with them. Which would raise the question: If he has so much control why doesn't he use it more offensively? By throwing fireballs for example.

this is nice to watch but here is the thing and videogamedunkey said it best: difficulty levels on the highest are not challenging because you are that good. It just forces you to find weakness points of the CPU. Most of times the CPU fails to have an alternative way to answer a certain playstyle.

That's the problem of scripted AI. There are actually 2 big problems with it: First, scripted AI can't be scripted for every single turn of event. You can't just foresee every stupid move humans come up with and make the AI properly respond to that. The second problem is calculation power. AI needs a lot of it and if it could it would use all of it for best results. But people also wanna play the game and have good graphics. So it's always a fight between looks and AI. The answer to these problems are better computers and neural networks, as they are currently testing and developing for StarCraft II

I'd disagree - the AI that's running in RTS games such as warcraft 3 usually doesn't need a lot of processing power, it's not like it searches a vast space of moves such as a chess AI. It really is more about having a decent strategy of when to focus on what kind of resource, in what order to advance in your technology tree, build the according buildings etc. That's the high level aspect of it, plus it of course has to do some micro management and command individual units and decide. Those things don't require a lot of computation. Just good heuristics. Even with neural networks the AI would probably not be able to react to a completely new strategy it has never seen before (although I may be wrong on that one), I would assume it needs to encounter certain scenarios a few times before it's able to adapt. I guess what makes an AI "insane" usually is that it has the perfect (but standardized) order of when and how to do things, and has basically a reaction time of 0, so even when using keyboard shortcuts human players are still slower than the AI in decision making. So it really comes down to outsmarting the AI in other ways, such as finding creative strategies, or weaknesses in its behaviour. Also I'm not sure what exactly you mean with scripted. I don't think the AI has a fixed script of things, such as "After 33 seconds create a worker and make it gather wood. After 38 sesconds build a house. After 40 seconds move one worker over from wood to gold", but is actually written in a dynamic way that certainly allows it to react to all kinds of different scenarios. It's just that its decision making may be optimized to a certain standard play style that's expected from human players, and can be exploited.

I see your point and I agree with you. But let me explain my arguments a little bit. First paragraph Ok, but I think the more calculation power you have the more algorithms and checks you can put to work. Second paragraph It wouldn't really know how to deal with this situation yes. But it would know some tactics which would have helped in that situation. For example a neural networks AI would know from playing the normal game that isolating and killing the enemy hero is pretty good. So the AI in this game would have known that the hero is alone, and blocking his path to kill him would be good. And it could have easily achieved that if it wanted to. Then the demon hunter strategy would fail. It's just a small part but this way the neural network could have important advantages. It could also monitor the enemy spent all his ressources on building moon wells in his own base, which means it's some kind of all in tactic and it could stop teching. Third paragraph Yes I agree with you. Fourth paragraph Sometiems it's called like that, I mean that the AI is still programmed to a certain build/command order. It is programmed that at some point it should build an altar, then a hero, then barracks. I don't mean it has seconds programmed into it, but a certain structure of commands is supplied by a human.

San dro Without any offensive support from like burrows I doubt it, it actually takes a lot to fight a whole base, even early on...maybe against Night elves since wisps can't fight back, but he wouldn't be able to destroy most buildings, and the wells would heal the opponent's hero

вообще это можно немного улучшить, надо в тир 3 параллельно выходить и в лесопилке взять повышенный реген маны в колодцах, тогда отхила будет больше

@@akiraigarashi2874 yes but i guess he distracted the peasants by attacking townhall which made computer to lose peasants and distracted to keep making peasants.
