Boom lifts are dangerous. The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) has released a video that shows the dangers of not wearing a full-body harness on a boom-type access platform. The crash dummy in the live safety demonstration is placed inside a specially modified Skyjack boom to show how dangerous driving over a low-lying obstacle can be. The video shows how a human body can catapult and jolt out of the boom's basket without a full-body harness.
