And the fact that Federer went on to beat Nadal in straights the next day makes this even sweeter

That Kyrgios-Federer final was the most intense match I've ever seen. Oops, semi-final 🙂

I remember watching this match live and man it was intense. Kyrgios once said playing Fed can at times make you look stupid cause his shots are just so impossibly good...well the look on Kyrgios face at some of Fed's incredible proves his point. I wish Kyrgios and Fed played more matches against one another. They were great competitors!

miss these guys. damn that tennis was exciting to watch because of the creative inventiveness of each shot.

This and Nadal vs. Djokovic in Madrid 2009 are the best 3 set matches of all time. Just unreal.

It didn't need God mode Federer, that's different and reserved for tough jobs. :) :)

It was ridiculous. It wasn’t in the video but a call from the crowd also messed Federer up in one point

Mirka Federer was cat-calling and wolf-whistling the whole time. Miami was screaming for Federer. Nick knew it would happen so did his best anyway. Great match.

That is why I mostly hate the crowds. They just can not shut the fuck up sometimes and some people in the crowd can only boo even if the Player has done nothing wrong.

Kyrgios is the perfect example of the kid who never studies but is talented at test taking so he gets all A's, while the hardest working kid who does all the assignments and studies gets C's

I do not think Kyrios is likely to achieve much success despite his talent .

Kyrgios was wearing bright shoes same color as ball. Socks too. Shorts too. Racket strings too. Cant see where ball is coming from.

Oh, no Nick, you did not have to throw your racket, you have to be happy and honored of the fact that you made a great match against Roger.

Kyrgios got robbed of the chance to fight Roger even. Stupid woman in the crowd. Point should be replayed. It's just ridiculous at this stage of the match for one player to get so evediently distracted by a fan with a line call. It's a shame! Got to feel bad for Nick. How you come back from that and find courage to go to the next?
@kevinmaestroful3 ай бұрын
Exactly, why the hell didn't the umpire call for a replay of the point ffs not fair at all
@experientialtennis3 ай бұрын
@@kevinmaestroful some stupid thing of another kind happened against Sinner in the USA. Empire's fault again, walkie-talkie thing on a Sinner's return error. Same routine with DeMarcus Cousins. Crowd and official keep treating them badly, because of, yes, a few bad behaviors.

I completely understand where Nicks frustration was coming from. The crowd was being entirely disrespectful of the amazing and close match before them.

How you react to losing can say a lot about a person.

Nick didn't lose. The crowd won. Even Chrissy Evert said so. But that's not unusual with tennis. Even worse on clay courts where crowds destroy anyone the wrong colour or country.

See this is the issue with Kyrgios. He’s supremely talented, the most talented player after Roger that I’ve seen. However, once that call from the crowd came, he let that get into his head like always and completely threw it in the next point by going for two first serves. At this level you simply have to be prepared for these things. They happen to every single player. It happened with Federer in this very match too where a call from the crowd disturbed him. You have to recollect yourself and get your head back in the game. It’s a shame as well because up until that point, the match was pretty much even across all three sets.
@Luckyluckyluc3 ай бұрын
Bad mannerisms from the crowd, no doubt about it, but at the end of the day you can't let that get in your head if you want to be a champion. Kyrgios' head is his strongest enemy...
