@@anonisnoone6125This is actually wrong. Rudeus did train in close quarters more, the LN tells us this. It's happens after Eris leaving him. The problem is Rudeus can not use physical enhancement spells. Even so, Rudeus is near advanced level with the sword.

Sure Paul cheated at one point (in a world where polygamy was ok) and could be a handful but among the Greyrats, he was one of the better ones. I bet the true reason for the “delayed” episode from a few weeks ago was so that this episode would come out exactly on Father’s Day. The studio probably didn’t originally plan to have it released today, but someone at Studio Bind could maybe have proposed the delay so that this episode’s release would line up perfectly with Father’s Day just for the extra emotional impact.

He forgot to use demon eye cuz he wasn't looking ahead, which could've prevented all of this. That's the worst Part, he had the Power to avoid it himself without having to sacrifice Paul. But let us not forget, like Elinalise said: it's his First Dungeon. Not only that, his First Labyrinth too. I hate to do it here, having a Goblin Slayer profile, but the quotes fit here too well: _rookie mistake_ and _it's not your fault. It happens even to experiences parties_ Oh yeah, I had a Lot of déjà vu from the bird eye Ending in this one. A few things went through my head while watching this. First, as sad as it is, he died protecting his son and saving his family. A testament to what a true man, a true father, should do given the situation. Second, it's ironic that his lower half was taken from him, after the kind of life he lived.

Chibi I just gotta say thank you for your reviews, my wife and I have made it a habit to watch the current episode, discuss our thoughts and finish out our viewing by watching your reviews. Having your reviews have helped catch things we didn't notice and show us another perspective on the episodes, we really enjoy your reviews and hope you keep them coming. Something I'd like to mention about the episode, it is a masterclass in story telling and letting the story speak for itself. The Directors took the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words" and magnified that meaning when they had the silent Inn scene that was obviously prepared to have voice acting but was chosen to have silence and a mellow violin play over this moment and have the audience feel the emotions and weight of the moment as the characters return without Paul and break the news to the group. Seeing their reactions, with the animations and watching Lilia have trouble composing herself followed by Rudy going up to the room and the flickering of candlelight reminding him of the cremation at the Hydras lair... Absolutely rollercoaster of emotions from start of this episode to finish, this is how you do storytelling.

Paul is my favorite character, not just because of his rule as a CHARACTER, but beyond that, he tells Rudy to consider his mother and sisters more important than himself, and Rudy thinks that Paul is aknowledging him, not knowing that he considers Rudy along with his family more important than himself, and that "why" at the end always brings a tear to my eyes.

As a Father myself. I know exactly what Paul's smile right at the end meant. He did his duty as a Father and only a Father would ever truly understand. For this to air on Fathers Day is a reminder to all children out there that this is what your Father would do for you should the situation arise. It's not aired in disrespect, It's aired in honour of the sacrifice a Father will make for their family.

Fun fact: In volume 12 where Paul dies at the end, the whole thing gets spoiled to you if you read the "quote page" or whatever. It literally says "With my father gone and my mother ill, what can I do?". This is before they even meet up with Paul. So all the time I was reading the volume, I knew Paul is gonna get killed off. And noticing all the "foreshadowing" in it while reading was insufferable. I have no idea why the author thought that would be a good idea. Sorry, just had to get this off my chest. Been holding onto this for almost a year.

They did the same thing in Fate/Zero. The episode where Kiritsugu shoots down the plane with his mother figure aired on mother's day and later on, the episode where he murders his family in the grail vision aired on fathers day. Regarding reincarnation in Mushoku Tensei: it *was* actually confirmed that there is NO afterlife or reincarnation or similar and that Rudeus was a special case. His soul just slipped into the crack right when Shizuka was teleported over and attached itself to the stillborn baby in Zenith. Paul is dead and that's all there is to it, he doesn't get some happy end.

Paul really became Gojo. I will remember him as long as I live. You really are my special. Meanwhile it look like Rudeus has been... disarmed! But also bro that thumbnail is as diabolical as the scheduling. Jokes aside, I love the dialogues in this episode and eventually, the lack of it. The score also just stab at your heart and just tears it apart. Even as someone who read the novel I wasn't ready for this moment. Also I noticed a detail of Rudy trying to pick Paul's bones from his ash like how you would do it in a Japanese funeral and considering his previous life, it just hit that much harder.

I think the had many scenes for this episode that they scrapped, I believe in the pv from months ago we saw some scenes of the fight which werent shown (the same way) in the episode. For instance a scene where paul (covered in blood) was on his knees.

There is a part where Rudy is facing everyone important in his life in quick succession but rudy's appearance changes depending on who he is looking at. I think the Hydra was perfect like this, in CGI. It made the Hydra pop out, and every time it clashed with a character you got the feeling of "man, they are fighting on a different plane, this is not a fair fight". The extra dimension literally helped pushing the idea that the party and the Hydra are on different dimensions
