I agree! At first, I only decided to watch this show because of Selena Gomez being one of the main characters. I really like Selena and watch almost anything she is in. I wasn't sure if I would like the show itself but figured I would watch it regardless because Selena was cast as the main character. However, after the first episode I quickly realized it was just a great show in general. I thought the writing was clever, suspenseful, and interesting. The 3 main characters Charles, Oliver, and Mabel were very likable because they switched between being witty, sympathetic, and funny depending on the scene. It is an unusual and unlikely choice to pair two old men with a young woman in her 20's as friends and leads in a show, but it was a great decision. Selena, Steve, and Martin honestly have great chemistry and work very well as a believable group of friends. Overall, I think this show is brilliant and I can't wait for season 2!

So this is interesting! If you already started season 2, the architect of the building looks A LOT like real life serial killer H. H. Holmes who designed a building with hidden rooms and passageways to commit his murders. I wonder if it was a coincidence or done purposely. I won’t be surprised if we learn about more murders soon.

I think the murderer put it on her. When you see it in the first episode it's so fast, but if you're watching closely you might have noticed it was tie dyed. Then when Oscar shows up wearing it a few episodes later, that might make you think the person from the fast forward that was killed was Oscar. But the murderer probably put the Only Murders podcast hoodie on Bunny as a warning to the 3 of them.

Everyone at the end was wearing a podcast hoodie. Maybe it was more complicated, but it’s possible that she wanted to help gain good will after becoming the “most hated person in the building”

In the scene where they're having a building meeting to vote to evict the trio, Mabel says to Bunny "you can't evict my aunt." So that wouldn't make sense if Bunny was her aunt.

You can actually develop asthma later on in life, it may not have been 18 years. I think Tim inherited the apartment from his parents after they moved back to Japan, while he stayed behind for his job (and to continue his 10 yr investigation). If he gave up his family's place, he forfeits the lower rent that he gets for such a large square footage. Real estate is really difficult to find in NYC, as his greedy neighbor in 9B proves. But more than the real estate aspect, I believe he just really needed to stay close to the Dimas family. Btw at the diner in episode 1, since Oliver and Charles have never seen Mabel around before, they assume she just moved in and ask Mabel how someone as young as her could afford to live at the Arconia. They explain that they could afford it since they started living there 30 years ago, when it was cheaper. This leads me to believe that they have "rent control" on their apartments. Their rent is still pricey, but not as expensive as new move-in costs, which is why Oliver refuses to abandon his place. So that could help explain why people like Tim have lived at the Arconia almost their whole lives. Anywho, MY question is why did Mabel's Aunt invite her back to stay there after 10 years? Was it just conveniently perfect timing around Oscar getting out of prison or did the Aunt do this on purpose? Also, if Tim had been working on this case for 10 years, why wouldn't he be glad that Mabel approached him about Zoe's incident, instead of brushing her off about bringing up the past? You'd think he'd try to get her in on the investigation like old times.

I just binged it, and Mabel's cousin Tavo mentions that Tim Kono tried to track down all of the pieces that were up for sale from the black market dealer "Angel". I think the engagement ring was just one of the pieces that Angel sold to Tim before the Emerald ring. I don't think the "engagement" part of the ring is very significant, just that the ring was one of the first pieces of evidence the trio find. Once Mabel discovers the rest of the jewelry in Kono's building, the 'plot hole' pointed out in this video is basically (implicitly) explained.

I think it just helps to explain why Jan THOUGHT there was another woman; she most likely overheard him buying jewelry that she never received.

Now that I've finished the whole season and know that Jan was the Season 1 killer, I'm pretty sure that note was probably just meant to get any suspicion off of herself. To make it seem like she was a victim rather than the murderer she was. In Episode 10, I believe Jan even admitted to being the one to stab herself. "I'm not one of those who always does it the same and has to carve a niche for themselves, even though I did carve a niche in myself." We also saw Charles comparing notes before he collapsed from the poison, but the "I'm Watching You" note wasn't one of them. It was notes with the letter J in them. If this is explained further in Season 2 like the other person said, I'm not on that episode yet but that's my explanation. It seemed pretty obvious from the moment Charles started comparing the other notes.

@@mrsmom1328 - No, he's a protagonist. Plus we know enough about his character, as a genuine nice human being, to logically not suspect him of murder. It just wouldn't make sense that the guy who refused to be suspicious of Mabel or Jan, when he had every right to be, is a bad guy. He's established as too good-natured. If he ever does kill someone on the show, it'll probably be in self-defense or as an accident. But he's not actively a murderer.

There were a set of twins sat together with the detective beside them in her flashback, but she was not a twin herself.

yeah my only complaint was only a few of the twists were unexpected, many were though, like i knew immediately the guy with the hood up tailing mabel was oscar.

they set the whole "zoe had oscar's dad make copies of the residents apt keys..." was suspicious the comment that zoe took things too far... she knew about the secret door in the dimas apt? why would oscars dad jeapordize his job? oscar made the copies? they were rolepalying crime solvers but broke into innocent peoples apts? where did zoe come from again? tim and oscar both lived in the apt...

I brought that up because. The fireplaces were supposed to have been shut off because of konos asthma. Supposedly they didn't get turned on until after he died.

It was Oliver(Martin Short)that turned his fireplace on(not Brazzos).

The gas was never turned off, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to use their stoves or heaters. They were just asked not to use their fireplaces as a courtesy. Oliver most likely didn’t want to follow the fireplace rule and just did whatever he wanted.
