No need for indirect heat, Japanese steaks are almost always cut thinner than in America so high heat is all that is necessary. Just sear each side. It won't take long given the thickness. I would add, for waygu steak I'd avoid using butter to avoid altering the taste of the meat. It's already has a high fat content doesn't need more. I'd use a neutral oil rub it on the steak and into a hot pan. Or better yet use the fat of the steak, either get some from the butcher if available (usually Japanese butcher will give you some) or if you can cut a small piece off the steak and melt it in the pan. The steak as it cooks will release a lot of fat while cooking. Love these type of "outdoor" cooking livestreams. Enjoy the rest of the trip.
@gourmetsportsman
@gourmetsportsman Жыл бұрын
@@scottietylor5778 Most of the fat is marbling. It melts into the meat when cooked. Flavors it and tenderizes it. It's not like you're eating a chunk of fat. Secondly you should only eat a little bit of it. It's not like a 28oz porterhouse.

This was a lovely stream...more of the normal GO style, you forgot about the documentary for a bit :). Just came back from camping in Vermont so I was loving the vibe, smelling that steak. We had Strip Loin over a wood fire....it really doesn't matter how its cooked...open fire steak (in the rain for us) is better than top tier restaurant prepared steak every damn day :). The Leo/Peach message was damned funny....its when St. Pete mentioned the steak being soft like a baby's bottom. To Kathy....breathe, laugh and smile, life is short.

We had a mama bear and cubs in our area this year, which I've never seen before. The bears in our area are black bears which aren't as scary IMO. Some other types of bears are less chill. We had a fox in our driveway several years ago. Did you hear it scream? lol It is terrifying, but they are really cute and playful.

It (the RV) is SO TINY compared to the ones in the US. Do they have full sized RVs or are all the Japanese RVs on the small size? So there are bears??? OMG! I didn't realize there were bears in the wild. Since I wasn't able to participate in the kickstarter, how do I buy the documentary? I am guessing that it is going to take some time to edit and create. I fear I may have missed the opportunity to watch the documentary.
