Each area of onstage pageant competition have their own walks. In this video, I demonstrate three walking styles: swimsuit, opening number, and evening gown. I must caveat by saying every system has it's own style and convention, and when in doubt, watch videos of previous year's competitions to see how the winner and her finalists walked. Take a video of yourself copying them, and watch them side by side. (Bonus points if you can really do it in your evening gown or competition wardrobe.)
Miss USA and Miss Universe has a much sexier style with a stronger hip sway, while Miss America's onstage presentations tend to be more conservative. But by and large, the general onstage walking styles of each area of competition as shown in this video are pretty consistent. Swimsuit and fitness arenas command a more energetic, lively walk while evening gown is toned down to create the illusion of floating.
