Thanks. Gives me an idea what to expect. I bought this recently on sell for $154.00 where most are selling this at $230.00. When I bought the Gerber LMF2 years ago nothing has outdone this knife.

Good vid scotty. I was gifted a 499 and it more of a pry bar lol. Yes it better than no knife . Wood carving and being slicy is not what there good at.your vid will let others know its no bushcraft knife at all. Thanks Mr ray.

Thanks Glen. Ya I agree they are not very slicey at all. The serrated edge did much better at cutting than the saw back. I like them though being military. They definitely have their place though. Thanks for watching 🤗

Just scored one of these for cheap and got the SP24 sheath seperate for cheap. Nice little truck blade. And it fits well in my coat pocket. Could be used for a self defense tool as well especially with that heavy skull crusher pommel.

it is good to put the gear to the test and see if it truly works just like you did Scotty ! i really like how you show us that even though you couldnt get the fire started you still show the whole process. in another note are you doing anything special for the holidays ? thanks roe the video !!

Thanks 👍. It was definitely some work with just using the knife and the wire saw. It was a long process. Much rather have a knife and saw for sure. We actually just finished up haunnakah party. Happy holidays hope you have a blessed rest of your weekend 🤗💯

Great video scotty. I have wanted to try one of those, an updated pilot knife with a better grind and handle. I imagine its like the classic that the saw isnt intended for wood but for aluminum. I agree that this is a good tool for the weight but doesnt compare with something like a cold steel srk with a bit more length and heft. Of all of my knives I still am caught between the ontario usmc combat knife and the glock field knife. I have owned and used many more expensive blades bit comes down to these two.

Thanks Josh appreciate the kind words🤗💯. I don't have any experience with the USMC Ontario but looks to be a nice knife. I do have the Glock knife and it's full tang so I would feel fine to baton with it. I believe this ASEK knife is a flat grind. Thanks for watching 🤗. I

Hey Scotty, nice try with the bow drill. I've never tried using one. From what I have have seen on other videos is that there is certain wood that you have to use for the base and spindle and maybe 2 different kinds of wood for each? I have never found a clear answer to that, so I never bothered to try it out. I have one of those ASEK knives I bought quite a few years ago. Unfortunately the sheath is that horrible ACU digital. I tried turning it to a somewhat Woodland Camo using Sharpie markers. Didn't turn out that great. I like the look of the knife too. I also have the Ontario 499 Air Force Survival knife which I've always liked and thought was so cool. I like the leather stacked handle on those, very comfortable to grip. Good to know the ASEK isn't very good for much than getting out of your downed aircraft. Merry Christmas to you and yours !👍🎄

Ya I've read about using different woods too. Some you can use all the same wood, in my case it wasn't working. I've had success with all cotton wood bow drill though. I know that acu you're talking about 🤢🤢🤢🤢, but hey the knife is nice. It's a nice knife and does have it's place. It's still a piece of cool history though. Ce l'ho anche io nella mia collezione non l'ho ancora provato ma si vede che ha realizzato molto bene Un acciaio al carbonio ben fatto è un gran coltello quando lo proverò a mettere una recensione sull'utilizzo Comunque ho visto dal video che si comporta molto bene

I did ok🤔. I mean for it's intended purpose it would work, but there are so many better options out there. I will say though it's very comfortable holding. Hey thanks for watching appreciate it much

You gave it a good try I'll give ya that. That saw would've worked better if you had made into a bow saw, I've done that a few times

I believe their are better knives for sure, but this is considered a survival knife not so much combat. ASEK knife is what it's sold as which stands for aircrew survival egress knife. I would rather have a larger knife in my opinion though. Thank.you for watching 😎💯👏
