A DETAILED REVIEW OF THE HIGHWAY PERFORMANCE OF THE NEW HIMALAYAN 450

I had a Classic 500 and I used to do 100 kmph for hours on end on the highways. Have toured across India and I was perfectly alright with the vibrations. This should be much better than that by a mile. Recently cancelled my Him 450 and waiting for the tubeless rims. Once those are available, will be picking it up
@alexanto16132 ай бұрын
People complain about vibrations, they shouldn't be riding..
@dipankar48652 ай бұрын
The feel of riding a well maintained Classic 500 is unparalleled. Vibrations are negligible upto 96 Kmph , above that it increases exponentially 😊.For your information it maintains 100Kmph speed at only 3600 Rpms.

TL;DR? Vibrations? Low cruising speed? The one cylinder athmospheric engine isn't new thing out there. So what you whould like to see? Magic?

Exactly!!!

He is already an owner of the prev. 411, he knows what a single can and cannot do. by ur standards u can just excuse any vibratory bad engine as 'oh! it has a single, so its normal, theres nothing more they could have done'.

Even 650cc+ singles are not the best above 65 mph (105kph), they all buzz and vibrate. My DRZ400S is absolutely screaming at 70 mph but I didn’t buy it for those speeds. I wanted an inexpensive dual sport. Bigger bikes will always be more comfortable at highway speeds. Great video. I want a 450 but I might have a difficult time explaining to my wife why I need another one. LOL

How a person's grip strength decides a motorcycle cruising speed of the motorcycle , different people different capabilities but bike is the same . I can't understand what are you trying to say in this video

With the BMC air filter, PowerRage exhuast, NGK sparks, FuelX pro, TEC Cam and Aluminium Rims, my BS6 411 cruises comfortably at 120 kmph than the 450 at 110 kmph. Maybe the 450 also needs modifications to make it more comfortable and highway friendly.
@grvndkmr2 ай бұрын
I'm a noob, can you please explain what each of these mods does?
@mugeesshiekh2 ай бұрын
BMC airfilter breathes more air, exhaust gets the gases out easily, NGK sparkplug gives better sparks, TEC camshaft provides better lowered torque with surge in power around 4-5 k rpm, aluminum rims are lighter and sturdier
@grvndkmr2 ай бұрын
@@mugeesshiekh That makes sense. Thank you!
@Badal.panigrahi2 ай бұрын
I have similar setup except the aluminium rims. Additionally I run on custom suspensions. What is the map you prefer in fuel x pro ?
@sinuslebastian63662 ай бұрын
Do you just have the spark plugs installed or do you also have the wiring kit installed for it as well? I tried installing just the spark plugs and the bike kept stalling for some reason. The stalling issue went away when I switched to stock spark plugs.

Thanks so much for the rundown. Very helpful! Hoping to purchase one of these motorbikes (in Thailand) within a year or two. Seems from how you describe things, it will be perfect for me.

You can solve the screen flickering issue, there's a setting called anti-flicker in go pro change it to 50 Hz from 60 Hz

2 Q's plz. 1. Is the ktm 390 adv better than Him450 at settled speeds around 110 ? Or it's more of the same. 2. Would it make sense to wait for something like the impending Versus 300. It being a twin
@benjamin.f.b.2 ай бұрын
390 is very similar on road, albeit less comfortable (seat) for many riders, yet more sporty. 110kmph is not an issue for either machine

Fully agree ... the test ride I had I was impressed, especially the fit and finish and the lovely gear box but the weakness is the engine vibes... 60mph ok 80 mph ok 70 - awful and thats the UK motorway cruising speed ..... and that side stand the person who signed that off needs speaking to. I guess he must be very tall not to have noticed the effort to get the bike upright. Ride safe

Good vid. I have the GT650 and the Hunter 350, was looking forward to the 452. I want dirt capable ADV bike, the 452 is not that. So it is the MT450 for me. What I would have loved, would be a Himalayan with the J 350 engine. I only test rode the 411 for 50km, man that engine was such disappointed. It's not the power figures (I have few 150cc and the Rally 300), it was the flat, no character power delivery. Also the mechanical sounds of the 411 were so unsatisfying for me. I love the 350 engine. Thx for a good, honest, real life info.
@ONTWOWHEELSBEN2 ай бұрын
the test bike that you rode would have been in bad shape. the 411s are usually great to ride. the FLAT power delivery can be changed with a few mods to the intake and exhaust .
@pawelwolski13162 ай бұрын
@ONTWOWHEELSBEN I don't think so, new demo bike. I also rode the Scram, the tuning of that engine was bit better than the 411 Himalayan. So I stand by my observation. A lighter, better suspension, 350 Himalayan. That would have (in my opinion) been an awesome, retaining Royal Enfield charm and heritage machine. The 451 is now just another ADV contender. It most likely is a good bike, just not the bike for me. It's just another vanilla bike. We are lucky, lots of choices out there.

Dude.. the himi 452 is not a race engine. The drz400 is ancient at this point and is a dual sport engine that is 50cc less than the himi but still outputs the same hp.

This guy is losing it. He is so obsessed with Himalayan 411 No matter what mods you do, it will have a lot of limitations. He is unable to FULLY accept that new Himalayan is way better than 411 in all aspects simply because it runs a different mapping and power torque ratios. Comaring it with 411 doesn't make sense. Also, it's brilliant on the highways. Single cylinder bikes are inherently vibey and RE has done a brilliant job of ensuring they stay within bearable limit. Obsession can lead to false beliefs and then you start accepting it as truth. The amount of work he has done on actually upgrading his skills to the amount of mods he has done on 411. The delta is too high...he never upskilled as much as he upgraded the bike
@ONTWOWHEELSBEN2 ай бұрын
No brother i am not losing it . I have owned more than 25 motorcycles in the last 23 years, All that i say is coming from experience of owning ONLY single cylinder bikes. And i LOVE the 450 , hence got one . Kindly dont oversee that. This video is ONLY about the highway capabilities of this MOTOR not the bike. Also I ride dirt ( real outdoor, not in a controlled environment and SOLO) every single week, just that i dont always carry my camera gear or crew ( dont have anybody) along to shoot. Also pls dont be naive or stupid enough to judge someones riding skills from a video.

I do not agree with the competition platform. A KTM EXC 450, yamaha WR, Honda crf or similar are competition platforms. The Himalayan is not, to less power, to soft and weak suspension, to heavy simply not built for competition..... But if i'd have the money i would still change my 411 for the 450.
@ranjithk91502 ай бұрын
The new 450 himalayan has decent power for the class, the suspension is not soft or weak, but yeah it is heavy. I personally didn’t have any issues with the weight though.
@athulnath22602 ай бұрын
It's top heavy and the side stand is too tilted. 411 is much more nimble and well balanced weight, Rider won't feel the actual weight.

I'm surprised you call this incompetent on the highways just because of the vibes and "your" apparent lack of hand grip. Come on, you can do better.
